Kenneth J. King
June 4, 1915 - Jan. 7, 2002
LOUISIANA - Kenneth Jesse King, 86, of Louisiana, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2002, at the Maple Grove Lodge Nursing Home in Louisiana.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana. The Rev. Jay Frost will officiate. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery in Louisiana.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at the funeral home.
Mr. King was born June 4, 1915, in Kansas City, Kan., to Jesse and Velma Strahn King.
He was married to Leota Jean Boone on Jan. 18, 1936, in Kansas City, Kan. She survives.
Other survivors include four sons, Stephen D. King of Deerfield, Ill., Gary L. King of Edmund, Okla., W. Michael King of Castleton, N.Y., and Warren B. King of Shrewsbury, Mass.; one sister, Margaret Berglund of Stanley, Kan.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. King worked for Hercules Inc. for 31 years, starting at Sunflower Ordinance Works in Lawrence, Kan. He was transferred to the Allegheny Ballistic Laboratory near Cumberland, Md., in 1960, and to the Louisiana, Mo., plant in 1964. He retired in 1977.
Pallbearers will be Stephen King, Gary King, Michael King, Warren King, Darren King and Al Schraer.
Memorials may be made to Pike County Home Health & Hospice, in care of the funeral home.
Zelma McLellan
Jan. 29, 1915-Jan. 7, 2002
HANNIBAL Zelma B. McLellan, 86, of Hannibal, died at 1:45 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, at her home.
Funeral services for Mrs. McLellan will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, at Smith Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Michael Kyle will officiate. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Park Cemetery, Columbia.
Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m.Thursday until time of services at the funeral home.
Mrs. McLellan was born Jan. 29, 1915, in Boone County, Mo., to Walter and Glellan Sapp Bullard. She was first married to William K. Baldwin, who preceded her in death Nov. 12, 1960. She was later married to James M. McLellan Jr., on Oct. 29, 1964, in Columbia. He preceded her in death July 24, 1982.
Survivors include one stepdaughter, Mary Schaeffer, Kent, Wash.; two stepgranddaughters, Christiee and Lisa Schaeffer, also of Kent.
The family also wishes to include as survivors, one nephew, Robert Bullard, Canoga Park, Calif., one stepson-in-law, Hank Schaeffer; and her close friends, John, Corliss, Drew, Geoff and Ally Morthland.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert Bullard and Ancel Bullard.
Mrs. McClellan formerly worked for Boone County National Bank in Columbia, and also at the Boone County Court House. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and the Hannibal Woman's Club. At the time of Mr. McLellan's death, he was editor and publisher of the Hannibal Courier-Post. The McClellans came to Hannibal in the summer of 1977, from Brookings, S.D.
Memorials may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church.
Pallbearers will be William J. Schneider Jr., Loren M. Mills Jr., Hank Schaeffer, Pat Blue, Geoff Morthland and Norbert Peters.
Harold J. Tourney
July 11, 1929 - Jan. 7, 2002
HANNIBAL - Harold Junior Tourney, 72, of Hannibal, died at 3:50 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2002 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.
Funeral services wil be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at Smith Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Bill Dexheimer will officiate. Burial will be in Grand View Burial Park.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Tourney was born in Philadelphia July 11, 1929, to Chester and Bessie Brocksmith Tourney.
He married Myrmell E. Schaeffer March 25, 1951, in Palmyra. She preceded him in death Oct. 27, 1998.
Survivors include one daughter, Terri Stroker of Hannibal; three sons, Ronald W. Tourney of Clay Center, Kan., and Dan Tourney and Mike Tourney, both of Hannibal; nine grandchildren, Andy Tourney of Maryville, Heather Tourney and Jeff Tourney, both of Clay Center, Kan.; and Kristin Bush, Julie Bush, Krystal Stroker, Nicolas Stroker, Lucas Tourney and Makenna Tourney, all of Hannibal; one sister, Delores Gray of Quincy, Ill.; and one brother, William J. Tourney of Hannibal.
The family wishes to include as survivors two daughters-in-law, Lisa Tourney and Jeri Tourney.
He was preceded in death by one son, Donald Eugene Tourney; and one grandson, Bret Michael Tourney.
Mr. Tourney was a truck driver. After his retirement he continued to drive buses for Hannibal Public Schools and later drove for Hannibal Trolley Company. He was a member of the Saverton Community Church.
Memorials may be made to the Saverton Community Church.
Pallbearers will be Gerald Foubester, Richard Lane, Jim Lennox, Raymond Nicosia, Kevin Smith and Mike Smith.
Edna F. Pracchia
Aug. 30, 1902 - Jan. 21, 2002
LOUISIANA - Edna Florence Pracchia, 99, of Clarksville and formerly of St. Louis, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, at her home.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. today at Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana. Father Tom Waickman will officiate. Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Louisiana.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of services today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Pracchia was born Aug. 30, 1902, in Seattle, Wash., to Clifford and Emma Kammerer Hill.
She was married to Louis Dewey Pracchia Sr. on Aug. 12, 1923, in St. Louis. He preceded her in death in 1969.
Survivors include two sons, Louis D. Pracchia Jr. of Ridgecrest, Calif., and Charles J. Pracchia of Lonedell; one daughter, Jane R. England of Clarksville; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to include as survivors, two daughters-in-law, Geri Pracchia and Viola Pracchia; and one sister-in-law, Rosemary Pracchia Arico of St. Louis.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Clarence Hill; and three great-grandsons.
Mrs. Pracchia had been employed as a sales clerk for Stix-Baer & Fuller in St. Louis for several years. During the war, she worked as a riveter for Douglas Aircraft Co. in St. Louis. She was a member of Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Clarksville.
Loren Kraft
April 3, 1927 - Jan. 20, 2002
PARIS - Loren (Slim) Kraft, 74, of Paris, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, at Audrain Medical Center in Mexico.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Paris. The Rev. John Grimmett will officiate. Agnew Funeral Home in Paris is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Kraft was born April 3, 1927, in Waynesville, Ill., to John and Edna Wright Kraft.
He was preceded in death by two brothers; and two sisters.
Mr. Kraft was a mechanic for Baller Motors in Monroe County for 35 years and then a janitor for eight years.
Arthur D. McUmber
Jan. 11, 1913 - Jan. 23, 2002
HANNIBAL - Arthur Dean McUmber, 89, of Hannibal, died at 9:55 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, at his home.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. Dr. Robert Manning will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until time of services Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. McUmber was born Jan. 11, 1913, in Webster, N.Y., to Arthur and Martha Warren McUmber.
He was married to Dorothy V. Arnold on May 14, 1943, in Pueblo, Colo. She preceded him in death July 3, 1994.
Survivors include one daughter, Sarah McUmber-House of Hannibal; two sons, Tony McUmber of Hannibal and Stuart McUmber of New London; and four grandchildren, Abby Montjoy, Lydia McUmber-House, Ian McUmber-House and Madeline McUmber-House.
The family wishes to include as survivors, one son-in-law, Dale House; one daughter-in-law, Becky McUmber; and one great-granddaughter, Amie Victoria Montjoy.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Nava McUmber.
Mr. McUmber began his military career in 1931 with the U.S. Army, serving a tour in the Canal Zone of Panama as a member of the U.S. Army Band. From 1935 to 1937, he served with the 7th Cavalry. In 1942, 2nd Lt. Arthur McUmber graduated from the U.S. Officer Candidate School. He served as an intelligence officer with a heavy bomber wing in Italy during World War II. In 1961, he retired from the U.S. Air Force with the rank of lieutenant colonel. His last post was at Whiteman Air Force Base in Knob Noster, where he was chief of intelligence for the 15th Reconnaissance/Technical Squadron.
Following his career in the Air Force, Col. McUmber took up a second career in civil service. He and his family moved to Hannibal where he worked as a claims investigator with the Social Security Administration. In 1968, he was transferred to Randallstown Md., to assist that office in investigating and processing claims. He retired from the Social Security Administration in 1973 and returned to settle in Hannibal.
Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army or the Northeast Missouri Humane Society.
Glenda Hanson
Oct. 2, 1943 - Jan. 23, 2002
BOWLING GREEN - Glenda Hanson, 58, of Bowling Green, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, at St. John's Mercy Hospital in St. Louis County.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at Kirks Funeral Chapel in Bowling Green. The Rev. Mike Bronson will officiate. Burial will be at Antioch Cemetery in Cyrene.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, at the funeral chapel.
Mrs. Hanson was born Oct. 2, 1943, in Cyrene to Lesley and Garnett Lovell Kerns.
Survivors include four sons, Stephen Hanson of Bowling Green, Kelly Hanson and Roger Hanson, both of Jefferson City, and Matthew Hanson of St. Louis; one daughter, Kristi Eth of St. Louis; one sister, Fay Inlow of Bowling Green; three brothers, Bill Kerns of Hannibal and Leo Kerns and Lesley Kerns, both of Louisiana; and four grandchildren.
Mrs. Hanson worked as an aid at Ruth Jensen Village in Bowling Green.
Memorials may be made to Antioch Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Darin Inlow, Kevin Inlow, Bob Kerns, Ed Kerns, Eric Benn and Brandon Mudd.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Kerns, Shawn Kerns, Tadd Kerns, Ross Korte and Michael Butler.
Mildred K. Baker
Oct. 21, 1923 - Jan. 23, 2002
KERRVILLE, Texas - Mildred K. (Mickey) Baker, 78, of Hunt, Texas and formerly of Hannibal, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, in a Kerrville, Texas, hospital.
The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Kerrville. Burial will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery. Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville is in charge of arrangements.
A Rosary will be at 6 p.m. today at the funeral chapel.
Mrs. Baker was born Oct. 21, 1923, in Shamokin, Pa., to Peter and Julia Bodak Koback.
She was married to Alvin Baker on Sept. 1, 1945, in Santa Barbara, Calif. He survives.
Other survivors include one son, Darryl Baker of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Tillie Panagos of the state of New Jersey and Charity Sweeney of the state of Maryland.; and two grandchildren, Kimberly Ann Righter of Bethesda, Md., and Jody Michelle Young of Round Rock, Texas.
The family wishes to include as a survivor, one sister-in-law, Linda Baker.
Mrs. Baker had been a resident of Hunt for 11 years. After graduating from high school in Shamokin, she served two years in the U.S. Marine Corps Womens Reserves during World War II. She received her degree from Ohio University and was a public school teacher for 17 years at Phillips Elementary School in Marietta, Ohio and for seven years in Hannibal. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Comfort, Texas, a member of the Retired Teachers Association and an avid golfer.
Pallbearers will be members of the Knights of Columbus.
Frances M. Morris
June 5, 1903 - Jan. 22, 2002
BOWLING GREEN - Frances M. Morris, 98, of Bowling Green, died at 2:05 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, at Country View Nursing Facilities.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at Friendship Baptist Church. The Rev. Richard Harsell will officiate. Burial will be at Green Lawn Burial Park in Bowling Green. Kirks Funeral Home in Bowling Green is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of services Saturday at the church.
Mrs. Morris was born June 5, 1903, in Vandalia to Charles D. and Peoria Laura Branstetter Barrett.
She was married to Cecil C. Morris. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Glenna Hulsey of O'Fallon; one son, Barry Morris of Kansas City, Mo.; and seven grandchildren, Linda Leader, Malcolm Hulsey, Barbara Alsup, Mark Hulsey, David Hulsey, Joshua Morris and Kalyn Morris.
The family wishes to include as survivors, one son-in-law, Thomas Hulsey; and seven great-grandchildren, Jonathan Leader, Carrisa Kaufmann, Rachael Alsup, Nicholas Hulsey, Austin Hulsey, Nicholas Hulsey and Alexis Hulsey.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Rudolph Barrett.
Mrs. Morris was a homemaker and a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

HANNIBAL - Charles M. (Mike) Miller, 59, of Blue Springs and formerly of Hannibal, died at 4:15 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at his home.
