Anna M. Wilson
March 29, 1907 - Jan. 3, 2002

HANNIBAL - Anna M. Wilson, 94, of Hannibal, died at 1:55 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at Hannibal Regional Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Smith Funeral Home & Chapel in Hannibal. The Rev. Tim Goodman will officiate. Burial will be at Barkley Cemetery in New London.

Visitation will be from noon until time of services Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Wilson was born March 29, 1907, in Buell to Charles and Ellen Sheets Langford.

She was married to Chester B. Wilson on Aug. 16, 1936, in Hannibal. He preceded her in death Dec. 18, 1954.

Survivors include one daughter, Marilyn Kay Baker of Lee's Summit; and one granddaughter, Heather M. Decker of Pleasant Hill.

The family wishes to include as survivors, one son-in-law, Mike Baker; one grandson-in-law, Scott Decker; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Florence Wrightman and Erma Hopke; and three brothers, Joe, Ray and Paul Langford.

Mrs. Wilson was a longtime member of South Side Christian Church. She was employed at the S.S. Kresge Store in downtown Hannibal for many years before her retirement.

The family wishes to say that she was greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

Larry R. Hickman

PERRY ­ Larry R. Hickman, 60, of Topeka, Kan., and formerly of Monroe County, died Dec. 29, 1999, at his home.

Graveside services for Mr. Hickman will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Lick Creek Cemetery in Perry.

Mr. Hickman was born July 28, 1939, in Monroe County to Moss and Margaret Street Hickman.

Survivors include one aunt, Della Street of Perry; and several cousins in this area.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Hickman had resided in Kansas since he was a child. He was a graduate of Topeka High School.

Memorials may be made to the Lick Creek Cemetery.

Kenneth Lisenbee
Oct. 18, 1918 ­ Dec. 30, 2000

EWING ­ Kenneth E. Lisenbee, 82, of Ewing, died at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at his home.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, at Ball-Davis Funeral Home in Ewing. The Rev. Tim Smith will officiate. Burial will be at Ewing Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Lisenbee was born Oct. 18, 1918, in Versailles, Ill., to Joe and Goldie Belle Briggs Lisenbee.

He was married to Louise Hopkins on June 3, 1951, in Quincy, Ill. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Dennis Lisenbee of The Colony, Texas; one daughter, Pam Lisenbee of Ewing; two grandsons, Craig Lisenbee and Scott Lisenbee, both of The Colony; four brothers, Carlos E. Lisenbee of Ewing, Eldon E. Lisenbee of Los Banos, Calif., William T. Lisenbee of Owasso, Okla., and Donald Lisenbee of Garland, Texas; four sisters, Eliose Brown of Paris Ill., Betty June Brewer of Sarasota, Fla., Evelyn Olps of Covington, L.A., and Letha Belle Whitaker of Ewing.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur Lisenbee and Warren Lisenbee; and five sisters, Gladys Boling, Marguerite Favre, Louise Hughes, Deloris Calvin and Dorothy Baxter.

Memorials may be made to Ewing Memorial Center Association.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Lisenbee, Craig Lisenbee, Scott Lisenbee, Dick Lisenbee and Gary Whitaker.

Ruby Lee Edwards Fruechte

ELSBERRY ­ Ruby Lee Edwards Fruechte, 63, of Oceanside, Calif., and formerly of Elsberry, died Dec. 28, 1999, in San Diego.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Jan. 15 at First Christian Church in Elsberry. The Rev. Clela Anderson will officiate. The cremains will be interred later at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C.

Earlier memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at United Church in Lake San Marcus, Calif., and at 4 p.m. Sunday at First Congregational Church in Glendale, Calif.

Mrs. Fruechte was born Dec. 13, 1936, in St. Charles to John Carr and Mary Lee Howard Edwards Jr.

She was married to the Rev. Leland Louis Fruechte on April 9, 1960, in Webster Groves. He survives.

Also surviving are one son, Brent Lee Fruechte of Sheboygan, Wis.; one daughter, Caryn Lee Olson of Westlake Village, Calif.; three grandchildren, Renee Leigh Olson, Natalie Marie Olson and Riley Louis Olson; her parents of Elsberry; and one brother, John Howard Edwards of St. Charles.

Mrs. Fruechte worked with her husband in the ministry for nearly 40 years.

During the 1980s and 1990s she worked as a real estate agent in California.

Mrs. Fruechte became a member of First Christian Church in Elsberry at an early age.

She was a 1954 graduate of St. Charles High School and attended Lindenwood College in St. Charles. She taught in a one-room school at Portage Des Sioux in St. Charles County.

In 1980 she received a bachelor's degree from Eastern Illinois University.

She was a seamstress who enjoyed hat making, embroidery work and sewing for her granddaughters.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church in Elsberry, in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.

John W. Holman

HANNIBAL ­ John W. Holman, 43, of Hannibal, died at 1:36 p.m. Jan. 3, 2000, at Hannibal Regional Hospital.

Funeral services for Mr. Holman will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. President Matthew Schuck will officiate. Burial will be at Barkley Cemetery in New London.

Mr. Holman was born on June 6, 1956, in Hannibal to Joseph M. and JoAnn Engleman Holman.

Survivors include his mother of Hannibal; three brothers, Tom Holman and Dan Holman, both of Hannibal, and Greg Holman of Center; three sisters, Mary Martin of Center, Barbara Mayfield of Macomb, Ill., and Leigh Holman of Hannibal.

He was preceded in death by his father; and one brother, James Paul Holman.

Mr. Holman worked at the Northeast Missouri Sheltered Workshop and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Joe Holman, Paul Holman, Jason Holman, Stephen Martin, Melvin Mayfield, Willie Richmond, Larry Allen and Bob Martin.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Holman's nieces.

Mary E. Borgmeyer
Aug. 24, 1931-Jan. 4, 2001

HANNIBAL ­ Mary E. Borgmeyer, 69, of Hannibal, died at 6:10 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at Hannibal Regional Hospital.

A Mass of Christian burial for Mrs. Borgmeyer will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 8, at Holy Family Church in Hannibal. Father Mike Quinn will officiate. Burial will be at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and a prayer service will close the visitation on Sunday, Jan. 7, at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal.

Mrs. Borgmeyer was born Aug. 24, 1931, in St. Charles, to Louis A. and Leona Schneidemeier Richter.

She was married to Alfred F. Borgmeyer on Oct. 20, 1951. He preceded her in death on Jan. 29, 1994.

Survivors include six daughters, Nancy Poterjoy, Vandling, Pa., Glenda Dixon, Hannibal, Brenda Sederwall, Lenexa, Kan., Linda Tubbs, ElDorado, Ark., Theresa Webster, Plano, Texas, and Barbara Brown, Valdosta, Ga.; two sons, Daniel Borgmeyer, Cross Lanes, W.V., and Bob Borgmeyer, Hannibal; one brother, Louis Richter, Wentzville; 21 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by an infant sister.

Mrs. Borgmeyer retired after 19 years as secretary for food services at Hannibal Regional Hospital. She was a member of Holy Family Church, where she was organist for many years. She had played the organ since age 9, and served as organist in various churches since childhood. She was also a member of the Council of Catholic Women, Hannibal Regional Hospital Auxiliary and the Lillian Lane Circle of Kings Daughters.

Memorials may be made to the Hannibal Regional Hospital Auxiliary.

Pallbearers will be Aaron Wilson, Cody Malone, Jonathan Borgmeyer, Joshua Borgmeyer, Jason Sederwall, Larry Brown, Dustin Webster and Jason Yeager.

Bessie L. Gottman
June 6, 1915 ­ Jan. 6, 2001

PALMYRA ­ Bessie L. Gottman, 85, of Palmyra, died at 3:40 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Palmyra.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra. The Rev. Bruce Jeffries will officiate. Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery in Palmyra.

Survivors include one son, Dennis L. Gottman of Palmyra.

The family wishes to include as survivors: one daughter-in-law, Laurie Gottman of Palmyra; and one niece, Nora Ruhl of Belleville, Ill.

Capitola Marybelle Birkhead
July 21, 1908 ­ Jan. 4, 2001

WINFIELD ­ Capitola Marybelle Birkhead, 92, of Cape Girardeau and formerly of Winfield, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at Fountainview Retirement Lodge in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. The Rev. Richard Turnbull will officiate. Burial will be at the New Salem Cemetery near Winfield.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Birkhead was born July 21, 1908, in Winfield to Cuba G. and Marzie Day Bacon.

She was married to Cecil Marion Birkhead in 1925, in Winfield. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include one son, Larry Birkhead of Lady Lake, Fla.; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Florence Miller of St. Louis.

She was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Doris; two brothers, Roy Bacon and Freddie Bacon; and one sister, Leslie Bacon.

Mrs. Birkhead was a lifelong resident of Winfield and was employed as the bookkeeper for Ricks Store before her retirement. She was a member of the Winfield Baptist Church, Rebeccas and WINCO.

Memorials may be made to WINCO or the Winfield Baptist Church, in care of the funeral home.

James M. Ellis

HANNIBAL ­ James M. Ellis, 81, of Hannibal, died at 8:57 a.m. Monday, Jan. 8, 2001, at Hannibal Regional Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, at Smith Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Palmyra.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, at Smith Funeral Home, with a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. by Palmyra Lodge No. 18, AF & AM.

Memorials may be made to Mount Zion Christian Church, Shriners Hospital for Children, Shiloh Christian Children's Ranch or the charity of the donor's choice.

Agnes P. Zerbonia
Oct. 5, 1920 ­ Jan. 12, 2001

HANNIBAL ­ Agnes P. Zerbonia, 80, of Hannibal, died at 5:10 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, 2001, at Willow Care Center in Hannibal.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today at Holy Family Cemetery. Father Mike Quinn will officiate.

No visitation is planned. James O'Donnell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Zerbonia was born Oct. 5, 1920, in Ilasco to Pasquale (Patsy) and Clara Haynes Remerio.

She was married to Vincent A. (Jim) Zerbonia on March 4, 1939, in Ilasco. He preceded her in death June 9, 2000.

Survivors include four sons, William Zerbonia, Richard Zerbonia and John Zerbonia, all of Hannibal, and Robert Zerbonia of Durham, N.C.; one sister, Patricia Murray of Hannibal; 18 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Vincent J. (Vince) Zerbonia; and one brother, Floyd C. Haynes.

Mrs. Zerbonia had formerly worked at the Hannibal Rubber Plant and St. Elizabeth's Hospital.

She was a member of Holy Family Church.

Memorials may be made to Holy Family School.
