Lucille Wharton
LOUISIANA Lucille Wharton, 87, of Louisiana, died at 10:30 p.m. Dec. 31, 1999, at the home of her daughter in Louisiana.
Funeral services for Mrs. Wharton will be today at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana. The Rev. Steve Ballinger will officiate. Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery near Louisiana.
Mrs. Wharton was born Oct. 7, 1912, in Clarksville to William and Lottie White Wigginton.
She was married to Glen Wharton on Oct. 12, 1940, in Louisiana. He survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Glen Wharton and Tom Wharton, both of Louisiana; two daughters, Mary Alice Silvey and Norma Jean Richards, both of Louisiana; one brother, Roy Wigginton of Hannibal; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Charles Bill Wharton; one grandson, Charles (Chuck) Wharton; and one brother, Raymond Wigginton.
Mrs. Wharton was a member of the Rebecca Lodge in Louisiana and a member of thes Hickory Grove Neighbors Club. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Louisiana.
Pallbearers will be Robbie Welch, James Wharton, Johnny Wharton, Eric Wharton, Larry Silvey, Jeff Silvey, Frank Raddatz and Robert Welch, all grandsons and great-grandsons of Mrs. Wharton.
Honorary pallbearers were all grandchildren of Mrs. Wharton.
Dale Hooton
PARIS Dale Hooton, 70, of Holliday, died Jan. 1, 2000, at his home after a lengthy illness.
Private funeral services for Mr. Hooton will be held at a later date.
Mr. Hooton was born Aug. 5, 1929, in Rowlesburg, W.Va., to Fred Stanley and Mirinda Elizabeth Hartsell Hooton.
He was married to Alice Marie Jackson on March 1, 1949, in Mount Lake Park, Md. She preceded him in death Dec. 14, 1996.
Survivors include one daughter, Karen Stipp of Madison; one son, Bruce Hooton of Tampa, Fla.; one granddaughter, Heather Renee Stipp of Monroe City; and two sisters, Rose Marie Eakin of Elkins, W.Va., and Helen Hebb of Hambliton, W.Va.
He was preceded in death by one son, Richard Dale Hooton; and two brothers.
Mr. Hooton served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
Mr. Hooton owned and operated his own heating and plumbing sales company in Chicago, Ill., before retiring in 1977 and moving to Holliday.
The Agnew Funeral Home in Paris is in charge of arrangements.
Leona Carpenter
HANNIBAL Leona E. Carpenter, 90, of Hannibal, died at 2:23 p.m. Jan. 8, 2000, at Beth-Haven Nursing Home in Hannibal.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at James O'Donnell Funeral Home. The Rev. Tim Goodman will officiate. Burial will be at Grand View Burial Park.
Mrs. Carpenter was born Nov. 8, 1909, in Monroe City to Charley B. and Otie Lee Snyder Quilling.
She was married to Virgil Carpenter on March 10, 1935. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include one sister, Fern Smith of Hannibal.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Frances Elizabeth Carpenter; five brothers, Julius Quilling, Albert Quilling, Emery Quilling, Bill Quilling and Paul Quilling; and two sisters, Goldy May Quilling and Mary Underhill.
Mrs. Carpenter was a machine operator with International Shoe Co. She retired as a housekeeper at Town House Motel.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital.
Pallbearers will be Jim Dent, Kelly Wilson, Bill Quilling, Jim Pearce, Elton Smith, Lealon Smith and J.D. Underhill.
Honorary pallbearers will be Sharon Pearce, Connie Russell, Leolonda Smith, Audrey Dent, Marilyn Denish, Anita Barnard, Carol Jo Hagney and Paula Morawitz.
Mildred Bozarth
HANNIBAL Mildred C. Bozarth, 82, of Hannibal, died at 7:20 a.m. Jan. 9, 2000, at Beth-Haven Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at James O'Donnell Funeral Home. The Rev. Tim Goodman will officiate. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
Mrs. Bozarth was born July 9, 1917, in Hannibal to Charles A. and Selma L. Koblitz Howell.
She was married to Kenneth E. Bozarth Sr. on May 29, 1938, in Boonville. He preceded her in death March 21, 1965.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth E. Bozarth Jr. of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Keith S. Bozarth of Springfield, Ill.; three daughters, Judith M. Mallett of LaGrange, Barbara A. Brown and Linda S. Bozarth, both of Hannibal; six grandchildren; Pam Wade, Jeff Sohn, Sarah Bozarth, Doug Mallett, Lenae Hultz and Derek Mallett; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Matthew N. Bozarth and Anthony A. Bozarth; five brothers; and two sisters.
Mrs. Bozarth retired as a desk clerk at Holiday Inn.
She was a member of South Side Christian Church.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of services Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Building Fund at South Side Christian Church.
Pallbearers will be Eldon Bowers, Bob Parker, Terry Ellison, Dr. Lynn Walley, Don Adkison and Jerry Vice.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mrs. Bozarth's grandchildren.
Roy R. Robinson, 100
AUBURN Roy R. Robinson, 100, of Elsberry, died at 12:07 a.m. Jan. 8, 2000, at his home.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Auburn Presbyterian Church in Auburn. The Revs. James Williams and D. Randall Cone will officiate. Burial will be at Mill Creek Cemetery in Silex.
Mr. Robinson was born Nov. 6, 1899, in Humeston, Iowa, to Perry and Lena Coffey Robinson.
He was married to Elvessa Ellis on Oct. 12, 1924, in Pike County. She preceded him in death Jan. 25, 1994.
Survivors include one son, Roy E. Robinson of Elsberry; one daughter, Martha Veasman of Benton, Ark.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Louise Peterman; one brother, Herman Robinson; and two sisters, Lucy Lindow and Mabel Patterson.
Mr. Robinson had been a cattleman and farmer at Elsberry for many years.
Mr. Robinson was a member of Auburn Presbyterian Church. He also was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. He had been a member of the Auburn School Board and East Missouri Riding Club.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of services today at the church in Elsberry.

Selma Bert
CHESTER, Ill. Selma D. Bert, 91, of Chester, Ill., died at 3 p.m. Jan. 5, 2000, at the Swanwick House in Chester.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. today at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chester. The Rev. Dennis Schaefer will officiate. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Chester.
Mrs. Bert was born Feb. 9, 1908, in Chester to Frederick and Christina Meyer Welge.
She was married to Andrew J. Bert Sr. on Sept. 9, 1925, in Chester. He preceded her in death April 5, 1985.
Survivors include two sons, Andy Bert of Chester and Gerald Bert of Hannibal; two daughters, Rudelle Gross of Steeleville, Ill., and Verdelle Meyer of Sparta, Ill.; one sister, Evelyn Eggemeyer of Chester; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and nine stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Irene Fox, Mabel Cincemino and Flora Rohlfing; and one brother, Adolph Welge.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chester and the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality.
Visitation began Sunday and will continue from 7:30 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. today at Welge-Pechacek Funeral Home in Chester.
Memorials may be made for Masses or to St. Mary School.
Elizabeth Tuley
MONROE CITY Elizabeth Jean Tuley, 73, of Monroe City, died at 6:50 p.m. Jan. 9, 2000, at Macon Health Care Center in Macon.
Funeral services are pending at Garner Funeral Home in Monroe City.
Delores Jean Jackson
CENTRALIA Delores Jean Jackson, 72, of Columbia and formerly of Hannibal, died Jan. 7, 2000, at Columbia Regional Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fenton Funeral Chapel in Centralia. The Rev. Fred Erickson will officiate. Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Centralia.
Mrs. Jackson was born Aug. 15, 1927, in Hannibal to Leroy James and Emma A. Lawson Wagner.
She was married to Floyd B. Jackson on Aug. 18, 1956, in Illinois. He survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Chuck Williams of Centralia, Floyd L. Jackson of Sturgeon and Don F. Jackson of Conway; three daughters, Rebecca Putnam of Auxvasse, Connie Fares of Columbia and Alice Jean Cotton of Pekin, Ill.; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Withrow of Mexico; and one brother, Donald Wagner of Hannibal.
Mrs. Jackson was employed in retail sales in Columbia.
She was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Hannibal.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Frank Putnam Jr., Bobby Williams, Floyd Fares, Leroy Jackson, Chris Jackson and Charlie Williams.
Johnnie Cortelyou
TROY Johnnie D. Cortelyou, 86, of Troy, died Jan. 8, 2000, at Parkside Meadows Retirement Community in St. Charles.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Kemper-Marsh Funeral Home in Troy. Burial will be at Troy City Cemetery.
Mrs. Cortelyou was born July 12, 1913, in Hawk Point to John Hunter and Nora Tice Heady Wilson.
She was married to Abram Lee Cortelyou in October 1937. He preceded her in death March 10. 1962.
Survivors include one daughter, Susan Petrowsky of Troy; one son, Abram Lee Cortelyou of St. Charles; two grandchildren; Joseph Petrowsky of Springfield, Mo., and Andrew Petrowsky of Columbia; and one sister, Wibbie Groshong of Troy.
She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Tracy Barnes; and two sisters, Annie Lea Barrett and Doris H. Rohn.
Mrs. Cortelyou was Lincoln County deputy circuit clerk from 1956 to 1966 and was Lincoln County clerk from 1966 to 1982.
She was a member of Troy Presbyterian Church. She also was a member of the Mark Twain Federated Club. She had lived in Troy most of her life.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mattie Stroker
BOWLING GREEN Mattie Stroker, 92, of Bowling Green, died Jan. 7, 2000, at Sidwell Retirement Manor in Bowling Green.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today at Kirks Funeral Chapel in Bowling Green. Burial will be at Curryville Cemetery in Curryville.
Mrs. Stroker was born May 28, 1907, near Curryville to Wylie Powell and Edna Madore Waugh Holman.
She was married to Howard Darnell. He preceded her in death Dec. 31, 1949. She was later married to Clark Stroker. He preceded her in death Dec. 22, 1977.
Survivors include one son, Marvin Darnell of Bowling Green; two daughters, Dorothy Cosgrove of Minneapolis and Joyce Leuthan of Le Coma; and one stepdaughter, Dorothy Moss of New Hartford.
She was preceded in death by one son, Billy Wayne Darnell; one daughter, Shirley Hal; one stepdaughter, Vivian Trowe; one brother, Virgil Holman; and five sisters, Mary Rector, Blanche Dillard, Bess Davis, Madge Wilson and Grace Holman.
Visitation will be from noon until time of services today at the funeral home.
