Thelma Marie Sharp
Thelma Marie Sharp, age 81, of Norborne, Missouri, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2006 at her home.
She was born October 30, 1925 in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Lawrence and Edna Robey Feltenberger. She attended schools in the Kansas City, Missouri area.
On January 20, 1944 she married Leonard Royce Sharp in Kansas City, Kansas at the Methodist Central Parsonage at 1:00 a.m. He survives at the home.
Thelma and Leonard had lived in the Kansas City and Raytown, Missouri area. They then moved to Carrollton where they owned and operated Felt Sharp Floor Covering. They moved to Camarillo, California where they managed apartments, retiring to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1998. They then moved to Norborne in 2003. She attended Methodist churches and was a member of the Women’s International Bowlers Association.
In addition to her husband, Leonard Royce Sharp, she is also survived by five children, Lawrence Dale Sharp and wife Gaye, Lee’s Summit, Missouri, James Royce Sharp and wife Velma, Havelock, North Carolina, Janice Lynn Johnson and husband David, Norborne, Missouri, Joyce Elaine Utterback, Blackwater, Missouri, Greg Alan Sharp and wife Kathy, Norborne, Missouri, one brother, Lawrence Harold Feltenberger, Kansas City, Missouri, fourteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Her parents, Lawrence and Edna Feltenberger, and one sister, Virginia Pape, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 5, 2006 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri, with Reverend John Mohler and Reverend Karen Coy officiating. Burial will be in Missouri City Cemetery, Missouri City, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 7-9:00 p.m., Monday, December 4, 2006 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.

Raymond August William Kasten
Raymond August William Kasten passed away at his home in Marceline, Missouri on December 1 with his wife of eight years, Helen, at his side. Raymond was born in Carlinville, Illinois on August 26, 1932. He was raised on a farm where his love for agriculture and livestock began. After graduating from Carlinville High school, he was drafted into the United States Army, where he was a hero on the front lines during the Korean War. After serving his country Raymond attended the University of Illinois. He returned to Carlinville where he started a family and began a career in the Livestock, Nutrition business. Early in his career with Wayne Feeds he achieved top honors as the number one Salesperson. Later in his career his unconventional techniques and reputation made him sought after by other feed companies and farmers throughout the Midwest. His career and love for a new adventure found him residing in South Dakota, Nebraska, and Missouri. He used all of these experiences to raise Grand Champion Cattle for his son. After Ray retired he spent time living in Phoenix, Arizona but found it unbearable not living the rural way of life. Fortunately Ray met Helen and they were joined in marriage on November 14, 1998 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Brunswick, MO after which they made their home in Marceline, MO where they lived happily. He was member of the Salem Lutheran Church at Forrest Green, MO. Raymond was a man with integrity, a good sense of humor, and lived his life with a high moral standard. He will be missed greatly. He is survived by his wife Helen, four children, Dana Ray Kasten (Chandler, AZ), Karla Kay Lucas (Wendell, ID), Patti Jo Kemp (Gig Harbor, WA), and Sharon Marie Kasten (Gilbert, AZ), his four grandsons, Dalton Ray Kasten, Shaun Thomas Lucas, Nathaniel Michael Lucas, and Keanen Richard Kasten, two step-children, Rick L. McGown (Marceline, MO) and Joyce Raylene Mallory (New Cambria, MO). Five Step-grandchildren, Amanda, Jesscia, Ashley, Julie and William, His brothers, Richard Kasten (Brownston, IL), Carroll Kasten (Mesa, AZ), and his sister Ellen Chase (Athens, IL) and the mother of his children, Dorothy O’Neill (Redding, CA). He was preceded in death by his daughter Kim Marie Kasten, his brothers Dean Kasten, and Don Kasten and sister Eleanor Kasten. His father Irvin Henry Kasten and his mother Cora Henrietta Perrottet. Funeral services were held at the Salem Lutheran Church at Forrest Green, MO on Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. Pastor Laurence Carlson and Pastor Glen Drewitz officiated. Burial was in the Elliott grove Cemetery at Brunswick, MO. Military Honors were provided by the Rucker-McAllister Post # 7 American Legion aof Brunswick, MO. Pallbearers were Paul Manson, Doug Grotjan, Leslie Heisel, Vic Dankert, Bill Blunk and Calvin Lyons. Honorary Pallbearers were Jim Staub, Wendell Armour, David Saupe and Bob Malham. Memorials may be made to, Salem Lutheran Church, St. John’s Lutheran Church or the Disabled American Veterans. Funeral arrangements were by the Gibson Funeral Home at Brunswick, MO.
Leona C. Mason
Leona C. Mason, age 61, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2006 at Ray County Memorial Hospital, Richmond, Missouri.
She was born July 25, 1945 in Chillicothe, Missouri, the daughter of Jesse and Margaret Hedrick Jewell. She graduated from Chillicothe High School.
On April 4, 1964 she married Don Mason in Chillicothe, Missouri. He survives at the home.
Leona was a loving housewife and mother. She was a member of the Carrollton Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
In addition to her husband Don, Leona is also survived by one son, Danny Mason, Carrollton, Missouri, three sisters, Betty Asmussen, Chillicothe, Missouri, Connie Jewell, Clearwater, Florida, Virginia Holtzclaw, Gladstone, Missouri and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents and one brother, Wayne Jewell, one sister, Linda Moore and one sister in infancy, Shirley, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Saturday, December 9, 2006, at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri, with Tom Wyatt officiating. Burial will be in Carroll Memory Gardens, Carrollton, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m., Friday, December 8, 2006 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.

Helen Sophia Blockberger
Helen Sophia Blockberger, 99, of Brunswick, MO died on Thursday, December 7, 2006 at the Brunswick Nursing Home. She was born on July 24, 1907 at Forrest Green, MO the daughter of Gustave and Emma Linneman Sanders. She was married to Theodore Blockberger on April 8, 1927 at Forrest Green, MO. Ted preceded her in death on October 12, 1981. Helen had been a housewife and homemaker. She was a Christian. She is survived by her daughter, Yvonne Tracy and her husband Vernal of Columbia, MO and her granddaughter, Bambi Tracy also of Columbia, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and three sisters. Funeral services were held at the Gibson Funeral Home in Brunswick, MO on Saturday, December 9, 2006 at 10:30 A.M. Reverend Wendell Turner officiated. Burial was in the Elliott Grove Cemetery at Brunswick, MO. Pallbearers were Rick Hayes, Kenneth Reichert, Jackie Garvin, D.L. Utterback, Steve Harmon and Charlie Hamilton. Memorials may be made to: The Brunswick Nursing Home, or to the Elliott Grove Cemetery.
Vernon “Vernie” Garner
Vernon “Vernie” Garner, 89, a former Independence, MO resident died on Sunday, December 10, 2006 at the Ashton Court Care and Rehabilitation Manor in Liberty, MO.
Funeral services will be held at the Gibson Funeral Home in Brunswick, MO, Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at 1:30 P.M. Reverend Lanny Lybarger officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12:30 to 1:30 P.M. Burial will be in the Elliott Grove Cemetery at Brunswick, MO with Military Honors provided by Rucker-McAllister Post # 7 American Legion of Brunswick, MO. Memorials may be made to the Elliott Grove Cemetery. He was born on August 27, 1917 at Triplett, MO the son of Richard and Stella Utterback Garner. Vernon served his country during WWII as a member of the US Army. He was married to Hester Campbell on January 24, 1948 at the Chariton County Courthouse in Keytesville, MO. Hester survives him at Liberty, MO. Vernon had lived in Independence, MO most of his life. He had worked for Armco Steel until his retirement in 1980. He was a Baptist and had been a member of the Rucker-McAllister Post # 7 American Legion at Brunswick, MO. He is also survived by one daughter, Shelia Snyder of Independence, MO; one son, Thomas V. Garner of Salisbury, MO; one brother, Donald Garner also of Independence, three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers. Pallbearers were Steven J, Matthew A, and Johnnie S. Snyder, Richard Wayne Garner and Clifford Lockard.
Barbara J. McClain
Barbara J. McClain, age 75, of McKinney, Texas, and formerly of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2006 in Texas.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, December 16, 2006 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri, with Pastor Jeff Maxwell officiating.

Margaret Linneman
Margaret Linneman, age 84, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Saturday, December 16, 2006 at Life Care Center, Carrollton, Missouri.
Margaret was born December 31, 1921 in Carrollton, Missouri, the daughter of Frank and Mary Dunn Bates. She attended country schools.
In 1943 she married Earl Wheeler in Carrollton, Missouri and he preceded her in death. She married Bernard Earl Linneman on September 8, 1962 at the United Methodist Church in Carrollton. He preceded her in death on September 7, 1999.
Margaret was a cook at Evert’s Restaurant in Carrollton.
She is survived by one son, Roy Wheeler, Houston, Texas, two granddaughters and two grandsons.
She was also preceded in death by seven brothers, Ora, Bennie, Bill, Walter, Frankie, Orville and Onie Bates and one sister, Mary Ethel Staton.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 19, 2006 at Carroll Memory Gardens, Carrollton, Missouri, with Reverend Bert Hughes officiating.
Visitation was Monday evening from 7-8:00 p.m. at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.

Angie Mae Stevens
Angie Mae Stevens, age 93, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Monday, December 18, 2006 at Life Care Center, Carrollton, Missouri.
She was born February 26, 1913 in Wakenda, Missouri, the daughter of Robert and Grace Staton Wilson. She graduated from Wakenda High School.
On August 31, 1932 she married Charles Laughtenschlager. He preceded her in death in 1957. She then married Tom Stevens in Lexington, Missouri on December 25, 1979. He preceded her in death on December 12, 1998. Angie had worked as a line worker for Banquet Foods and was a member of the Carrollton Church of Christ.
She is survived by several cousins, Rosemary Brewer, Estes Park, Colorado, Barclay Staton and Jim Staton, Carrollton, Missouri, Maxine Molina, Warsaw, Missouri and Marjorie Kindle, Lee's Summit, Missouri.
Her parents and one infant brother, William Robert Wilson, Jr., also preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, December 21, 2006 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri, with Tom Dennis officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri.
Visitation was held prior to the service at the funeral home.

Clifton Russell Cowherd
Clifton Russell Cowherd, 83 of Carrollton, Missouri died at 9:00 p.m.
Wednesday, December 20,2006 at Carroll County Memorial Hospital, Carrollton, Missouri.
Cliff was born August 21, 1923 to Dr. Russell V. Cowherd and Clifton R.
Cowherd. Cliff, a lifetime farmer, was a 4th generation Carroll County farmer, a descendent of James V. Rogers, one of the early Carroll County settlers.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Michaels, and his daughter, Dr. C.
Miki Cowherd. In 1984, he married his wife, Emmalie Cowherd.
Survivors include sons Robert Cowherd, Johnathan Cowherd, Andrew Cowherd and stepsons Benjamin Polen and Dallas Polen, 7 grandchildren, Miranda Cowherd, Dallas Polen, Spencer Polen, Luke Polen, Harrison Polen, Hayden Polen, and Annalie Polen.
Cliff attended Eastern Kentucky State, The University of Missouri and was a graduate of The New Mexico Military Institute. He was a WW II veteran serving on the Pacific front through 2 invasions.
Cliff was a former President of The Carroll County Trust Company and the Farmers & Merchants Bank of Hale, Missouri. He served on their bank boards as Board Chairman for many years. He was also a former board member of the Carroll County Savings & Loan.
He was the founder and Scout Master of Troop and Explorer Post 800 of Carrollton, Missouri and had many Eagle Scouts come from his troop. Cliff was a Medicine Man of the Tribe of MIC-O-SA Y and served on many scout committees. He took his troop on summer canoe trips to the Minnesota wilderness and winter snow mobile trips, also to Minnesota. Cliff enjoyed scouting for over 30 years and was awarded the Silver Beaver for distinguished service.
Cliff was a member of the 1 st Christian Church of Carrollton. A memorial service will be held at the 1 st Christian Church during early January. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the 1 st Christian Church, Boy Scouts of America, or Family Choice.
Patricia Ann Bahr Dickson
Patricia Ann Bahr Dickson, 69, of Independence, Missouri, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2006, at her home.
Patricia was born April 3, 1937, in Carroll County, Missouri, the daughter of Edward Phillip and Agnes May Thomas Bahr.
She received her education in Bosworth, Missouri and graduated from Bosworth High School.
Patricia was emloyed as a waitress at Evert’s Restaurant and Main Street Restaurant in Carrollton, Missouri and at several restaurants in the Kansas City area retiring in 2003.
She was a member of the First Christian Church, Bosworth, Missouri.
She is survived by one daughter, Kathy Dickson, Independence, Missouri; one son, Ricky Dickson, Carrollton, Missouri; four nephews and their wives, Richard Thurlo and his wife, Patty, St. Joseph, Missouri, Gail Thurlo and his wife, Linda, Carrollton, Missouri, Dwane Thurlo and his wife, Dee, State of Kansas, and Bruce Thurlo and his wife, Dawn, El Dorado Springs, Missouri.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Mildred Dorotha Bahr Umpherman.
Cremation Graveside Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m., December 30, 2006, at the Pleasant Park Cemetery, east of Carrollton, Missouri, with the Reverend Bert Hughes officiating.

Winifred (Winnie) J. Garrison Miller
Winifred (Winnie) J. Garrison Miller, 85, of Carrollton, beloved wife of Maurice and mother of Sybil, died December 24, 2006 unexpectedly at Carroll House. Winnie was born on October 16,1921 in Wayne City, Illinois, the daughter of Samuel and Sybil Garrison, and grew up near Roanoke, Missouri where her father farmed. She graduated from Roanoke High School and worked several years at the ASCS Farm Program offices in Fayette and Columbia, Missouri. During the Depression she met her future husband Maurice Miller, and after their marriage on January 17, 1943, she moved to Tacoma, Washington, Los Angeles, California, and Muskogee, Oklahoma to be near his military bases. Later during the War, she worked in Kansas City, Missouri. After the war, they resided in Columbia until Dr. Miller completed his DVM degree at the University of Missouri in 1950. It was then that they moved to Carrollton where they worked together to establish his veterinary practice and resided there until the present.
Winnie was active in the Women's Club, the Girl Scouts and the First Christian Church. Always fashionable, she was a full-time homemaker, excellent cook and bridge enthusiast. While she enjoyed her travels to Mexico, Colorado, New York, Texas, Florida and Europe, she loved her family, friends and home most of all.
She is survived by her husband Dr. Maurice Miller of Carrollton and their daughter, Sybil Miller, of Austin, Texas, as well as many nieces and nephews: Donald and Jeannette Garrison, Jr.; David and Marty Garrison; Dr. Matt and Georgia Lynn Garrison Baker, Mike and Alice Garrison, Steven and Donna Garrison, and Janet Garrison Trussell. She was preceded in death by her brothers Donald Garrison of St. Charles, Missouri and Charles Garrison of Independence, Missouri, and her parents, Samuel and Sybil Garrison of Roanoke, Missouri.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, December 30 at the First Christian Church, Carrollton, Missouri at 10 am. She will be buried at Oak Hill Cemetery in Carrollton. Donations may be made to the First Christian Church, the Arthritis Foundation, or the charity of your choice.
Wilma Frances Rose
Frances Rose died Sunday, December 24, 2006 at Shirkey Nursing Center of Richmond MO. She was 86 years of age. Frances was born November 15, 1920 in Rural Carroll County and was the daughter of Rolla and Irene Bowles. She attended Star school in Carroll County and later graduated from Bogard high school in 1938.
On July 20, 1941 she married Norman Franklin Rose. They lived in Rural Carroll County until 1993 when they moved to Braymer, MO. Frances and Norman had four children, Martha, Robert, William and Jana.
Frances lived a happy life on the farm. She loved being in the country maintaining her garden and flowers. She also enjoyed playing cards, bowling and embroidery work. She worked for many years at the Carroll County Hospital. Frances was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and a friend to all. Frances was a member of the Mandeville Methodist Church, Mandeville Merry Mixers, and the Ladies Club of the Christian Womens Fellowship.
She is survived by three children, Martha Burns and husband Norman of Braymer, Robert Rose and wife Beverly of Carrollton and Jana Burdge and husband Glenn of Shippensburg, PA. She had eleven grandchildren; Shane Rose, Aaron Rose and Jason Rose all of Carrollton, Jeremy Rose of Hale, Julie Hayes and husband Marc of Pleasant Hill, Suzann Clevenger and husband Bobby of Braymer, Nancy Maasdam and husband David of Tina, Rusty Burns and wife Heather of Triplett, Scott Burns of Braymer, Carrie and Allison Burdge of Shippensburg, PA. Frances also had eleven great grandchildren, Emma Jean Rose of Hale, Vincent and Loren Hayes of Pleasant Hill, Amanda, Ryan and Steven Clevenger all of Braymer, Stephanie Jones and husband Cohlby of Savannah, Brittany and Emily Maasdam of Tina, Emma and Kaitlyn Burns of Triplett.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband Norman Franklin Rose, one brother, Billy Bowles, one son William Rose and one grandson Richard Rose. Three sister-in-laws and one brother-in-law as well as her Grandparents also preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, December 29, 2006 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri, with Reverend Dennis Bennett officiating. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery, Bogard, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 12:30 until service time on Friday at the funeral home prior to the service.

Deborah (Debbie) Elaine Isaacs Veach
Deborah (Debbie) Elaine Isaacs Veach, 51, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Wednesday December 27, 2006, at her home.
Debbie was born January 6, 1955, in Chillicothe, Missouri, the daughter of Joe Wyckliffe and Ruth Ann Wampler Isaacs. She attended Bogard Grade and graduated from Bogard High School in the class of 1973. On June 16, 1973 she was united in Marriage to Gary W. Veach at the Mandeville United Methodist Church.
Debbie was Office Manger at Mulch’s Country Mart and was a member of the Carrollton United Methodist Church in Carrollton, Missouri.
She is survived by her husband Gary of the home ,her Mother Ruth Ann Isaacs, one daughter Molly Veach and Kurt Reyburn, a special caregiver, one son Josh Veach and friend Sarah Scharff all of Carrollton, Missouri, one brother Richard Isaacs and Connie Bowman of Bogard, Missouri, one sister Connie Hartman and husband Mike, of Carrollton, Missouri, nephews Donnie Joe Isaacs, Mikel Isaacs and Amberlynn Curry, Casey Hartman, Joe Braesch, Shawn Leppert, nieces Whitney Hartman, Angie Braesch, Kelly Leppert, Emily Bowman.
Debbie was preceded in death by her father Joe and her Paternal and Maternal Grandparents.
Funeral services were held Sunday December 31, 2006 at the Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri with the Reverend Pat Gorsett officiating. Burial was in Ebenezer Cemetery, Bogard, Missouri. Visitation was Saturday, December 30, 2006 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.

Willard Claude Critcher
Willard Claude Critcher passed away December 31, 2006 in Lexington, Missouri.
He was born September 3, 1914 near Linden, Missouri, the son of John N. and Minnie B. Taylor Critcher. He married Grace Hartman on July 18, 1973 in Miami, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on January 1, 1995.
He is survived by a daughter-in-law, Fern Hartman Deatherage, a stepson, Jim Hartman, four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Paul Critcher, Hermitage, Missouri, and one sister, Marie Zumwalt, Peoria, Arizona, plus a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one stepson, Donald Hartman, two brothers, Jacob and Snowden Critcher and one sister, Kathryn White.
Claude mad a career in the military, serving first in the United States Army and then in the United States Air Force, retiring in 1967. He was a veteran of World War II. He later worked for the Police Department in Blue Springs, Missouri and was a caretaker for the Masonic Lodge. He was a lifetime member and Past Master of South Gate Lodge #547.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Gibson Funeral Home, Waverly, Missouri, with Brother William Koch officiating. Burial will be in Waverly Cemetery, Waverly, Missouri. Military services will be provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Pence-Lovell-England Post #1773, Carrollton, Missouri.
Visitation will be held from 7-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at Gibson Funeral Home, Waverly, Missouri.
