Kay Brand
Kay J. Brand, age 40, died December 26, 1998, from injuries suffered following a motor vehicle accident in Rushford, MN.
Funeral services were held January 2, 1999, at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN, with the Reverend Roger James officiating. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery in Little Falls.
Kay Janel Hansen was born May 30, 1958, in Little Falls to Lyle and Loretta (Piasecki) Hansen. In July 1974 she married Glen Hoheisel and together they farmed in Pierz, MN, until moving to Stockton, MN, in 1977. They were later divorced. Kay began working for Lucas in Rushford in 1984 and moved to Rushford in 1989. In September of 1990 she married Leroy Brand. Kay was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hart, MN. Kay will be remembered for her love of bowling, caring for her St. Bernard “Cruiser,” being an avid Vikings fan, gardening and watching her son, Tim, wrestle.
Survivors include her husband, Leroy Brand; one daughter, Jennifer Lynn Hoheisel of Rushford; one son, Timothy Joe Hoheisel of Rushford; mother, Loretta Rudie of Little Falls; maternal grandmother, Lucille Piasecki of Little Falls; three brothers, Tom (Karen) Gerwing of Little Falls, Rick Hansen of Greys Lake, IL, and Dean (Kathy) Hansen of Okinawa, Japan and two sisters, Karen (Eugene) Kuchinski of Pierz, MN, and Jayne Gerwing of Little Falls.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lyle and maternal grandfather, Casimer Piasecki and her paternal grandparents.
Marybeth Field
Marybeth E. Field, age 56, a resident of Cushing, MN, died December 17, 1998, at the Greater Staples Hospital.
Memorial services were held December 20 in the Lincoln Evangelical Free Church in Lincoln, MN, with Rev. Brian Burton officiating.
Marybeth Elizabeth Field was born on September 3, 1942, in Little Falls, MN, to the late Joseph George and Florence Elizabeth (Bates) Chandler. She grew up near Randall, MN, and attended school in Little Falls, graduating with the class of 1960. For years she worked several jobs around the country and returned to Cushing 16 years ago. She operated Beth’s Home Care Service and ran the Corner Cafe until illness slowed her down. She was a member of the Randall Presbyterian Church and participated in the activity of the Lincoln Evangelical Free Church in Lincoln.
Marybeth is survived by her twin daughters, JoAnne Eberhardt of Little Falls and Janell Mares of Cushing; a son, Kenneth Anderson of Cushing; three sisters, Darlene Foster of New Mexico, Gwen Maxwell of Lincoln and JoAnne Johnson of Oregon; two brothers, Clifford Chandler of Randall and Donald Chandler of Kirkland, WA, and nine grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, June Zimmerman and an infant sister.
Dorothy Holmquist
Dorothy E. Holmquist, age 74, a resident of Minneapolis, MN, died December 27, 1998, in Minneapolis.
A funeral service was held January 2, 1999, at the Albin Funeral Chapel on Nicollet Avenue in Minneapolis. A private interment took place at Acadia Park Cemetery, Mendota Heights, MN.
Dorothy was born January 29, 1924, in Little Sauk, MN. Her parents were Edward and Sigrid Holmquist.
Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law, Willmar L. and Joyce Holmquist of Little Falls, MN; three nieces and one nephew.
Richard L. Schultz
Richard L. Schultz, Sr., age 71, a resident of New Brighton, MN, passed away.
Funeral services were held December 30, 1998, at Messiah Lutheran Church, Mounds View. Interment was at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery in Swanville, MN.
Richard was a life member of Circle-Lex VFW Post #6583, Lino Lakes and member of Ruth Adams Band at Nye’s in N.E. Minneapolis.
He is survived by children, Robert, Belinda McCormick, Richard Jr., Barbara Kampa, Kurt, and their spouses; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Cora Stumpf and Alice Koenig; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ione.
Henry J. Mueller
Henry J. Mueller, age 77, a resident of Minneapolis, MN, passed away.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held December 22, 1998, at the Church of the Annunciation in Minneapolis, MN. Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Henry serviced his country during WWII with the 88th Sea Bee Battalion, and was a Branch Sales manager for the Eureka Company.
Henry is survived by wife Nancy; children, Greg Mueller and wife Kathy, Carol DeWitt, Mary Jane Mueller and husband Dave Ray, and Charlie Mueller; sister, Elizabeth C. Mueller; brother, Lawrence Mueller and wife Sally; grandchildren, Sarah and Stephen Mueller; nieces and nephews.
Robbie J. Pollock
Robbie J. Pollock, age 35, a resident of Burtrum, MN, died December 23, 1998, at the Long Prairie Memorial Hospital in Long Prairie, MN.
Funeral services were held December 28 at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls. Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetry in Sparta, WI.
Robert “Robbie” Jay Pollock was born June 3, 1963, in Toma, WI to the late Charles and Cleta (Johnson) Pollock. He grew up in Toma and graduated from Toma High School with the Class of 1981. He attended Tech School in LaCrosse, WI, graduating from there in 1985. He lived in Arizona, Texas and later moved to Little Falls and presently was living in Burtrum. He worked for the past five years as a maintenance person at Falls Fabricating in Little Falls. He enjoyed music, his guitar, electronics, fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his fiance, Cynthia Maciej of Burtrum; daughter, Jamie LeMieur-Pollock of Little Falls; sister, Toni Erickson and husband David; and niece, Tiffani Erickson of Kilgore, TX, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and step-son, Josh Odden.
Casketbearers were Tim Maciej, Lenny Maciej, Kelly Maciej, Ray Zanda, Scott Young and Butch Zimmerman.
Fred Yasgar
Fred Yasgar, age 81, a resident of Sobieski, MN, died December 25, 1998, at the Lutheran Senior Citizens Home in Little Falls.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held December 28 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski, with Father Raymond Donnay officiating. Burial was in the St. Stanislaus Parish Cemetery. Military rites were conducted by Little Falls V.F.W. Post #1112.
Fred was born August 22, 1917, to George and Martha (Wroble) Yasgar in Sobieski, MN. Fred was united in marriage to Catherine Rossa on July 21, 1941, in Elmdale, MN. He then served in the Army during World War II. After the service, he farmed in Swanville Township. Fred also worked for Hennepin Paper Company in Little Falls for 17 years. He also bartended in Flensburg and Sobieski. Fred was a member of the V.F.W. He very much loved to bike ride.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine Yasgar, of Sobieski; sons Lawrence Yasgar of Huron, SD, Roger Yasgar of Champlin, MN, Bernard Yasgar of Moorhead, MN, and “Yub” Eugene Yasgar and wife Roxy of St. Cloud, MN; daughters Marie Frank and husband Al of Maple Grove, MN, Jane Spiess and husband Michael of Ellsworth, WI; and Kathleen “Tina” Frank and husband Gerard of Randall, MN; brothers, Bob Yasgar of Sobieski and Frank Yasgar of Little Falls, MN; sister Celia Fussy of Sobieski; 19 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son David; brothers Ted, Joe, and Lawrence; and sisters Gertrude Palashewski and Isabel Trutwin.
Casketbearers were Mike Yasgar, Ron Yasgar, Derrick Frank, Jeremy Frank, John Holtz, and Joe Trutwin.
Rosamond A. “Rose” Poissant
Rosamond A. “Rose” Poissant, age 94, a long-time area resident of Little Falls, MN, and Brainerd, MN, formerly of St. Cloud, MN, died December 28, 1998, at Bethany Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held December 31 at St. Mathias Catholic Church with Father Seamus Walsh officiating. Burial was in St. Mathias Church Cemetery.
Rose was born in Stewart, MN, on November 12, 1904, to Bernard and Josephine (Forcier) May. She had been a member of the Christian Mothers and St. Mathias and St. Francis Catholic Churches in Brainerd.
Survivors include two sons, Wallace Poissant of Mesa, AZ, and Irving H. and his wife Irene Poissant of Cold Spring, MN; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Mary) Koering of Fort Ripley, MN; 22 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; one brother, Raymond May of Brainerd; and, one sister, Frances Doucette of Brainerd.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred; two sons, Kenneth and John Poissant; two grandsons; four brothers and sisters, Winnifred May, Lawrence May, Fred May, and Florence Moran.
Corinne Brooks
Corinne Lanell Brooks, age 18, of Lincoln, MN, died unexpectedly on December 25, 1998.
Funeral services were held December 29 at the Lincoln Evangelical Free Church with Reverend Terry Stumbo officiating. Burial was in the Scandia Valley Cemetery.
Corinne Brooks was born on October 10, 1980, in Minneapolis, MN, to Laurie Bencker and Luxton Brooks. She lived in the Minneapolis area where she attended elementary school. In 1991, she moved with her mother to Lincoln and attended Staples-Motley Schools where she was currently a senior at the Staples-Motley High School and was a member of the Yearbook Committee. She worked several jobs in the area, including Hardees, was a waitress at the Ten-Hi in Motley and worked at the Cennex Station in Staples. She also enjoyed babysitting.
Survivors include her mother, Laurie Bencker of Lincoln; her father, Luxton Brooks of Newport, MN; two sisters, Amy Jill Pittman and Ashley Breanna Brooks; one brother, Joseph Brooks; maternal grandmother, Sonja Bencker of Lincoln; paternal grandparents, Melvin and Ruth Brooks; paternal great-grandmother, Dorothy Franklin of Staples; five aunts: Diane Hogle, Lisa Kelley, Natalie Lee, Darla Brooks, Lori Coenen; six uncles: Allen Bencker, John, Gary, Mark, David and Justin Brooks; special friend: Brian Tweeter and James Brandon; as well as many cousins, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Herb Bencker and uncle, Steven Brooks.
