Martin Tuzinski
Martin Tuzinski, age 80, a resident of Little Falls, MN, died April 4, 1997 at his home.
Funeral services were held April 7 at Our Lady of Lourdes Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls, MN with Father Leroy Kremer officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
Martin was born December 2, 1916 in Little Falls, to Steve and Agnes (Vnuk) Tuzinski. He married Cecelia Janey in 1938 in Sobieski, MN. Martin worked as a mechanic all his life. He worked for Anton Chevrolet in Little Falls and for Brown Steel Tanks in Minneapolis. He also built homes. In 1968, Martin bought and operated the Shell Gas station on the west side. He retired in 1975. His first wife, Cecelia died in 1970. In 1975 he married Betty Lampert, who also preceded him in death.
Survivors include a son, Richard and wife Mary Ann of Little Falls; good friend, Irene Kris of Little Falls; a brother, Bernard of Little Falls; sisters, Angie Cichon and Ann Witt both of Little Falls, and Bernice Gallus of Minneapolis.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Cecelia; wife, Betty; and two sons, Eugene and an infant son.
Casketbearers were Joe Copa, Eugene Vnuk, Chuck Soltis, Daniel Puchalla, Peter Fussy and Ron Witt.
George Peter Czech, Sr.
George Peter Czech, Sr., age 83, a resident of Little Falls, MN died April 5, 1997 at St. Gabriel’s Hospital in Little Falls.
Funeral services were held April 8 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls, with Father Leroy Kremer officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
George was born November 23, 1913 to John and Victoria (Kroll) Czech. He was united in marriage to Christine Auer on December 29, 1941 to Church of Seven Dolars in Albany, MN. The couple lived near Little Falls and farmed their entire married life. George also worked at Camp Ripley before retiring in 1965.
Survivors include his wife, Christine; sons, George Jr. and wife LaVon, Richard, Jerry and wife Natalie all of Little Falls; daughters, Betty Sherry and husband Duane of Little Falls, Pat Boser of Lastrup, MN, Rosie Filsmyer and special friend, Art Jacobs of Opole, MN; brothers, Vince and Leo of Little Falls, Roman of Flensburg, MN and Alois of Arkansas; a sister, Mary Kuchinski of Little Falls; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John, Tom, Edward, Frank, an infant brother, Joseph; a sister, Agnes; and two sons-in-law.
Honorary casketbearers were granddaughters: Charlene Hanson, Shelly Woitalla, Minnie Fischer, Carrie Filsmyer, Christa Filsmyer, Tina, Kate and Faith Czech.
Casketbearers were grandsons, Arnie Wieczorek, Jr., Tom and Tim Czech, Curt and Cory Filsmyer, Chad Boser, Tony Czech, and Cyle Filsmyer.
Robert E. Kick
Robert E. Kick, died at his home in Mesa, AZ on March 21, 1997.
Memorial services were held May 3 at the First Lutheran Church in Little Falls, MN with the Reverend David Steffenson officiating.
Robert Kick was born April 16, 1920 in Pine City, MN to Therese (Engler) and George Kick. He grew up on the family farm in Pine City. He attended Macalester College, St. Paul and practiced for several years as a livestock artificial inseminator in southern Minnesota. Later he owned and operated a shoe repair business in Pine City. After moving to Little Falls, he worked as a printer and typesetter for the local newspaper, The Daily Transcript, owned and operated by Gannett Newspaper. He was also employed as a movie projectionist for Tentilino Enterprises. He retired from both careers after over 30 years of service. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Little Falls for 29 years and a member of AARP (American Association of Retired Persons).
Survivors include his wife Viola “Hap” (Brastad), who he married in 1947 at the Zion Lutheran Church, Browerville, MN, his son Gregory, Zim, MN, his daughters, Paula Forst, Gilbert, AZ and Karla Kalis, St. Cloud, MN, four brothers, three sisters, eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother and brothers, Carl and William.
Roy J. Brenny
Roy J. Brenny, age 71, a resident of Avon, MN, died April 11, 1997, at the Crestview Lutheran Home in Columbia Heights, MN.
Funeral services were held April 15 at the South Elmdale Congregational Church in rural Holdingford, MN with Pastor Ron Stewart officiating. Burial was in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls. Military rites were by the Holdingford American Legion.
He was born August 13, 1925, in Holdingford to Charles and Agnes (Katzmarek) Brenny. He married Louise Young August 25, 1947, at St. Hedwig’s Church in Holdingford. He attended St. John’s University and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Mortuary Science. He was employed by Amoco Oil Company as a rural agent in Holdingford for 20 years. He worked for the Brenny Funeral Home in Albany and Holdingford for 10 years. He was on the Holdingford School Board for 12 years, member of the Holdingford Fire Department for 27 years, member of the Lions Club, Eagles, the Holdingford American Legion and the Albany Golf Club. He was a disabled Navy veteran of WWII.
Survivors include his wife of St. Cloud, MN; children, Karin Flynn of Minnetonka, MN, Charles Brenny of Clearwater, FL, Thomas of Pine Island, MN, Sharon Brenny of Edina, MN, David of Brooklyn Center, MN, Nancy Brenny of Minneapolis, MN, Judy Kobylinski of Holding-ford and Rona Finneman of Minneapolis; seven grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Clarence “Chief” of Carroll, IA, Rev. Kenneth Brenny of Pierz, MN, Connie Lewis of Glenwood Springs, CO.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers (Stanley, Clemens and Allan), one sister (Eleanor).
George E. Kasner
George E. Kasner, age 89, a resident of Foley Nursing Center, Foley, MN, died April 13, 1997, at the Nursing Center. Funeral services were April 16 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Morrill, MN. Fr. Tom Olson officiated. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
George Kasner was born January 29, 1908, in Colorado Springs, CO, to Frank and Edith (Blaske) Kasner. He married Anna Jedlicki April 29, 1930, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Brennyville. He was a lifelong resident of the Foley area. He had farmed in the Ramey area and had lived in St. Cloud from 1947 to 1952. He had also worked for Tenvoorde, Al Hurt Construction, Kurr Ice Co., and Franklin Manufacturing. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Morrill.
Survivors include his daughters, Mary Ann and Basil Watercott, Little Falls, MN, Dorothy Moulzolf, Coon Rapids, MN, Dianne and Jerome Gapinski, Foley, Georgianne and Gary Thorsten, Foley; 18 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; brothers, Alfred and Ralph, Portland, OR. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, April 17, 1986 and a grandchild.
Pallbearers were Jeff Moulzolf, Greg Moulzolf, Kevin Moulzolf, Dan Watercott, Doug Watercott, Darin Watercott, and Darrell and Dwight Watercott.
Philip B. German
Philip B. German died April 3, 1997.
Funeral services were held at Sacred Heart Church in Fresno, CA on April 8. Interment was at Fresno Memorial Gardens, “Garden of Valor”.
Philip was born in Fresno on February 16, 1925, and lived there with his family and many friends for 72 years. He graduated from Roosevelt High Class of 1943. After serving three years as a Surgical Technician with the 91st General Hospital stationed at Oxford, England, he returned to Fresno. Here he met and married Geraldine (Jeri) Doucette and began his family, daughter, Sharlene Scott, and sons Larry, Ronald and Richard. He retired from the Fresno Fire Department in 1978 after 30 years of service. He served on the board of Directors for the Fresno Fire Department Credit Union for 18 years and retired as director in 1979. Survivors include his wife and family as well as brothers, Don and Louis; his sisters, Evelyn Renfro, Eilleen Reinhardt, Patsy Stringfield, Nancy Claxton and Alice Vogel; nine grandchildren, Nicholas and Christopher Harrison, Brian Patrick, Jacob, Nicole, Sarah, Richelle, Austin and Alyssa German. He was preceded in death by parents, William P. and Alice Mae, brother, Bill, and sister, Phyllis.
Judy Pierskalla
Judy Pierskalla, age 51, a resident of S,t. Joseph, MN, died April 12, 1997 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Funeral services were April 16 at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in St. Wendel with the Rev. Gerald Mischke officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
Judy was born April 4, 1946, in Avon, MN, to Anthony and Dorothy (Smith) Pierskalla. She was a member of St. Columbkille Catholic Church in St. Wendel and was employed at Frigidaire in St. Cloud for 30 years.
Survivors include a special friend, Terry Wilkins; brother and sisters, Mary Lou Brinkman of Grey Eagle, MN, Howard of St. Joseph, MN, Joan Silbernick of Little Falls, MN, Doris Kostreba of Holdingford, MN, Carol Spoden of Foley, MN, Linda Stoermann of Avon, MN and Sandra of St. Cloud, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Pallbearers were Kevin Silbernick, Shawn Stoermann, Peggy Hellermann, Kevin Pierskalla, Corey Spoden, Marvin Brinkman and Grant Overcott.
Austin Mohler
Austin E. Mohler, infant son of Kathleen Purinton and Kelly Mohler was born and died April 2, 1997, at St. Gabriel’s Hospital in Little Falls.
Funeral services were held April 7 at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls with the Rev. Nick Landsberger officiating. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Little Falls.
