Hazel P. Johnson
Hazel P. Johnson, 85, of Clarkfield, died March 23, 2004 at the Clarkfield Care Center. Funeral services were held March 26 at the Clarkfield Alliance Church with Pastor Carter MacFarlane officiating. The organist was KayAnn Riecke and soloist was Ross Riecke.
Casketbearers were her grandsons: Paul Morain, William Morain, Wylie Morain, Michael Stager, Matthew Stager and Nathan Johnson. Burial was in the Clover Leaf Cemetery, Kandiyohi.
Hazel P. Johnson was born on July 10, 1918 at Kerkhoven to parents Alfred and Anna (Fanberg) Bergstrand. She attended the Kerkhoven Public School.
Hazel married Leland Johnson on Feb. 27, 1940. The Johnsons moved to Clarkfield in April of 1955, where Leland was employed by Mork’s Hardware. She was a member of the Kerkhoven Baptist Church, Benson Baptist Church and Clarkfield Alliance Church.
Hazel became a resident at the Clarkfield Care Center in February 2003, following a fall and a broken hip.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Leland of Clarkfield; her children: Gary of Clarkfield, Richard (and Sandra) of Bloomington, David (and Connie) of Eagen, Barbara Morain of Minneapolis, and Sue (and Roland) Olson of Blaine; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and sister Victoria Rodi.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters; and one brother.
Lynner Funeral Home of Clarkfield was in charge of the arrangements.
Joanna ‘Bobbie’ Lentz
Joanna “Bobbie” Lentz, 84, of Granite Falls, died March 25, 2004, at the Granite Falls Manor. Mass of the Resurrection was held on March 29 at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Granite Falls with Fr. Jim Devorak as celebrant. Burial was in Doncaster Cemetery south of Granite Falls.
Joanna Regina “Bobbie” Lentz was born on June 15, 1919 in Jinnola, MN to Peter and Regina (Young) Theilman. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith and attended public school in Holdingford.
In 1940, Bobbie married Harry Anderson. Harry died in 1945 and in 1946, Bobbie married Arnie Lentz. Arnie died in 1982.
During her active years, Bobbie worked at Dayton’s Department Store in Minneapolis. She moved to Hopkins in 1947 where she worked at the Super Valu Grocery Store and eventually moved to Granite Falls in 1962.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary #69 and a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathy (and Harvey) Beavers of Granite Falls; one brother, Ralph (& Ginny) Theilman of Mesa, AZ; three sisters, Gladys Opholt of Elmhurst, IL; Eilene Bouska of Annandale, and Laura Bixby of Pine City; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands and two sisters.

Avis J. Felska
Avis J. Felska, 86, of Spicer, died March 24, 2004 at Alterra Sterling House in Willmar. Memorial services were held March 29 at Hope Presbyterian Church in Spicer with Rev. Jack Anderson officiating. Burial was in the Granite Falls City Cemetery.
Avis June Felska was born June 25, 1917 in Granite Falls to W. Bix and Emma (Meyer) Griebler. She grew up in Granite Falls where she graduated in 1935. On Dec. 18, 1937 she married P. Reuben Felska in Granite Falls. The couple moved to Redwood Falls where they farmed. In 1981, they retired and moved to Spicer. Following Reuben’s death on Feb. 25, 2001, Avis entered Alterra Sterling House assisted living in Willmar.
She was baptized and confirmed at Hope Presbyterian Church in Granite Falls and was a former member of First Presbyterian Church in Redwood Falls.
She is survived by her son Paul (and Hollie) Felska of Redwood Falls, daughter Barbara (and Bill) Schindele of Willmar; five grandchildren: Cindy (and Paul) Warren, Scott Schindele (and fiance Troy Wittman), Stacey (and Paul) Ryan, Derek Felska, Bix Felska (and fiance Amanda Regnner); five great-grandchildren: Kristin, Kira and Kelly Warren and Jordan Ryan and Logan Felska.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.

Annamarie A. Rebers
Annamarie Rebers, 90, died March 9, 2004, in Walker. Funeral services were held March 16 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Bemidji with Rev. Lon Kuether officiating. Burial was in St. Mark’s Lutheran Church cemetery.
Annamarie Amalia Rebers was born on July 28, 1913 at Vesta to Christian and Maria (Reimer) Schwartz. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She graduated from Redwood Falls High School. She taught Sunday school and grade school classes in Vesta area. She graduated from beauty school in Mankato and was also a nanny to three Windland children in New Ulm.
She married Martin G. Rebers on June 10, 1945. The couple farmed south of Hazel Run for 21 years and retired in January of 1966. They bought a summer resort south of Cass Lake and retired from there in 1976.
She and Martin and four other couples formed a WELS church group later to be known as St. Mark’s Lutheran Church of Bemidji.
She is survived by her husband Martin Rebers of Walker; three children: Caroline Schneider (Marvin) of St. Francis; Martin Rebers Jr. (Deb) of Fort Dodge, IA, and Kenneth Rebers (Judy) of Austin, TX; seven grandchildren, one great-grandson, 13 nieces and nephews; three sisters-in-law: Helma Schwartz of Vesta, Elda Rebers of Belview and Marcella Rebers of Belle Plaine.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, three sisters and one nephew.

Marie Friedrich
Marie Louise Friedrich, 76, died March 16, 2004, at St. Peter Community Health Care Center. Funeral services were held in Crosslake and New Richland. Burial was in St. Olaf Cemetery, New Richland.
Marie was born April 18, 1927 in Manhattan, NY. After the death of her mother, Louise Henrich, Marie was adopted by her grandparents, Walter J. and Bertha Henrich. She grew up in Williston Park, Long Island, NY. She married Howard Friedrich of Jasper, MN on Aug. 17, 1946. They lived in New Richland where they owned Friedrich Furniture and Friedrich Funeral Home.
Marie is survived by her husband, son Larry (Cynthia) Friedrich of St. Peter, daughter Mary Ann (Thomas) Kramer of Granite Falls; granddaughters Laura (David) Eyre of Hinckley, Heather (Dylan) Hooper of Dillingham AK; foster-granddaughter Rebecca (Christopher) DeVries of Wahpeton, ND; grandsons Jeremy (Christine) Kramer of Owatonna, Colin (Kimberly) Kramer of Minneapolis; great-granddaughters, Lindsey, Brittney, Madison and Gabrielle Kramer of Owatonna, Emily DeVries of Wahpeton, ND; Ellen Eyre of Hinckley; sisters-in-law Margie Friedrich of Worthington; Edith Henrich of Ocala, FL; Jeanne Henrich of Ridge, NY; Emily Henrich of Zephyr Hills, FL and nieces and nephews.
Emma Ims
Emma Is, 86, died Sunday, April 11, 2004, at the Granite Falls Municipal Hospital. Her funeral was held April 14, at 1 p.m. at the Granite Falls Lutheran Church Church with Pastors Bob Knutson and Liza Simpson officiating. Burial was in the Hillcrest Cemetery of Granite Falls.
Emma Martha Ims was born on July 12, 1917 in Granite Falls to Joseph W. and Martha (Schmecher) Riley. She grew up in the Granite Falls area and graduated from high school in Granite Falls.
On Nov. 26, 1941, Emma married Kenneth J. Ims in Granite Falls. She assisted her husband in his farming operation and during her active years was involved in numerous activities and organizations. She was a member of the Minnesota Falls Ladies Community Club and the Valley Riders Saddle Club (which she she co-founded with her husband and friends).
She is survived by her children, Jerome (and Mary) Ims of Granite Falls Robert (and Marlys) Ims of Willmar; Steven (and Beverly) Ims of Granite Falls, and Lynette (and Mark) Bakker, also of Granite Falls; one sister, Ruby Peterson of Granite Falls; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Kenneth in 2001; daughter Rosalind St. Dennis; sisters Mary Brown, Hildred Riley and Katherine Riley; brothers Joseph Riley and her twin brother Robert Riley.

Keith Ward
Keith E. Ward, 74, Rockville, MO, died at his home April 5, 2004. Mr. Ward moved in April 1986, from Leslie, AR to the farm home of his sister, Doris E. Miller, where he raised sheep.
Keith E. Ward was born April 20, 1929 at Greene County, IA, to L.C. and Gayle Ridenour Ward. He served in the United States Army as a paratrooper during the Korean War. After his discharge from the United States Army, he farmed his parents’ farm at Montevideo until the fall of 1981 when he moved his beef cattle herd to a ranch near Leslie, AR.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Dale and Warren Ward. Keith Ward is survived by three sisters, Helen Manee, Remer; Faye Tanoff, Montevideo; Doris E. Miller, Rockville, MO; one brother, Ray E. Ward, Rusellville, AR, and nieces and nephews.
Judy Hess
Judy Deanne Hess, 60, forerly of Hanley Falls, died Feb. 17, 2004 in Orange, CA. She was the daughter of Luella (Maasch) and Kenneth W. Rikke of Hanley Falls. Memorial services were held March 27 in Yellow Medicine East Cemetery.
Judy is survived by her husband Charles (Chuck) Hess, one son Chad and two grandchildren; twin sister Joyce Wright of Vadnais Heights, Collette and Lenard Warnke of Echo, Shirley and Roger Gordon of Garden Grove, CA, Kenneth R. and Carol Rikke of Echo, Linda Rikke of Bradenton, FL, Pamela Rikke of Denver, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Peter Benson
Peter Alan Benson, 23, of Montevideo, died Monday, April 12, 2004, near Waseca, as the result of an automobile accident. Funeral services are pending with Lynner Funeral Home of Clarkfield. Peter is the son of Bob Benson of Montevideo and Charlene (Heimark) Benson of Arkansas.
Lynn Rondell
Lynn Rondell, 19, of Granite Falls, died April 22, 2004, at home. Private family services were held Monday, April 26. Burial was in Doncaster Cemetery in Granite Falls.
Lynn Marie “Boo-Boo” Rondell was born Dec. 5, 1984 in Watertown, SD, to Owen Rondell and Cleo Mulligan. She grew up in Watertown and attended school in Morton. In 1994, her family moved to Granite Falls. Lynn was involved with her culture and sang with the Upper Sioux Youth Drum Group. She played softball for the Upper Sioux.
She is survived by her mother Cleo Mulligan of Granite Falls, her father Owen Rondell of Watertown, SD; her sisters: Elray Blue of Granite Falls and Jessica Rondell of Watertown, SD; her son Elijai Rondell, and special friend Justin “Snoop” LaMorie; two nephews and one niece and aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother Priscilla Blue, and her uncle Elroy Blue and two aunts, Francis and Jessica Rondell.
