Erik B. Engle
Leon and Carole Gerjets of Proctor are saddened by the death of their grandson, Erik B. Engle, 21. The Detroit Lakes resident died Sat., Aug. 31, 2002 in Fargo as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident.
He was born in Detroit Lakes to Allen and Lynette (Gerjets) Engle. He attended Minnesota State University-Moorhead from 1999-2000 and was a recent graduate of the Auto Body Repair Program at Northwest Technical College in Detroit Lakes. He was employed with Elite Auto Body in Detroit Lakes at the time of his death.
Survivors also include his parents and a sister Lindsey Engle, all of Detroit Lakes, grandparents Alfred and Janice Engle of Frazee, great-grandparents Laverne and Leona Lubitz of Perham and Olga Buse of Lennox, S.D.
Interment was in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in rural Frazee.
Roy Hylla
Dave Hylla and his daughter Ashley are mourning the death of his father and her grandfather, Roy Hylla. The Holdingford resident passed away on Mon., Sept. 16. He was 77.
Roy was proud to be a dairy farmer tending the same land as his father before him near St. Wendel. He retired from farming in 1998.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Rosemary, a son and granddaughter, his parents, three brothers, and two sisters. He will also forever live in the memories of his four other children and their families. Roy will also be missed by his ever-loyal basset hound, Hanna.
He is also survived by a brother and a sister.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Roy's life will be held on Fri., Sept. 20 at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in St. Wendel at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. today (Thurs.) and after 9 a.m. Friday at the Miller-Carlin-Brenny Funeral Home in Holdingford.
Rosemary Bjorn
Rosemary Bjorn, who was born in Midway and graduated from Proctor High School in 1941, died Wed., Sept. 11, 2002. She was 78.
The Minneapolis resident was born to Jack and Olga McDonald and attended schools in Midway and Proctor. She married David Bjorn in Augustana Lutheran Church in 1943. They lived in Proctor for several years before moving to Minneapolis.
She is preceded in death by her husband David, her brother Roderick McDonald and her parents.
She was very proud of her family, especially her loving grandchildren.
Rosemary is survived by her children Susan (Bruce) Marx, Stephanie (James) DeBenedet, Daniel (Mary), and Sharmon (William) Jarvi, eight grandchildren, brother Daniel (Joane) McDonald, six nieces, three great-nephews, and many relatives and friends.
Service was held in Augustana Lutheran Church. Arrangements were made by Bell Brothers Funeral and Cremation Services.
Georgetta Mae Myhre
Georgetta Mae Myhre, 72, of Meadow St., died Thurs., Sept. 19, 2002 in Bayshore Health Center.
She was born in Duluth on October 20, 1929 to George and Florence (Riley) Paradise. She attended St. Rose Catholic School and was a Duluth Cathedral High School graduate. On Feb. 14, 1953, she married Marvin Myhre in Duluth.
Georgetta worked in the Dietary Dept. and Housekeeping for both St. Mary's Hospital and St. Luke's Hospital for over 20 years. She was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church. Georgetta liked to bake, and enjoyed camping and family gatherings. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Marvin; three children, Joan (John) Slattengren, Tim (Julie) Myhre, and Paul (Cathy) Myhre all of Duluth; one brother, Richard (Lillian) Paradise of Herbster, Wisc.; nine grandchildren, Tanya Slattengren, Emily (Mike) Halonen, Laurie Slattengren, Jamie (Matt) Thompson, Brian Myhre, Sydney Myhre, Alexis Myhre, Mike (Nikki) Davis and Missy Davis; and four great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in Oneota Cemetery.

Clarence 'Clem' B. LaSota
Martha 'Marty' Johnson of Saginaw is mourning the death of her father, Clarence 'Clem' B. LaSota. The Duluth resident died, Fri., Sept. 20, 2002 in a Duluth hospital. He was 86.
Clem was born in Royalton, Minn. He was a 1936 graduate of Royalton High School. Following high school, Clem began his Great Lakes career as a coal passer for Pittsburgh Steam Ship Co. During WW II, he was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve, serving on the Great Lakes. in 1943, he married Eva Mary Skroch. Clem was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. He was a consult on the tourist attraction, William A. Irving, including conducting tours of the engine room.
Clem is also survived by another daughter and three grandchildren.
Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.
Christie Helen Annis
James Annis of Saginaw is mourning the death of his mother, Christie Helen Annis. She died Sun., Sept. 22, 2002 in Duluth. She was 96.
The former Nisswa native was born in Wallace, S.D. In the mid-1930s, she moved to Minneapolis where she owned and operated a small restaurant with a friend from Sweden. In Feb. 1941, she married Floyd Emery Annis in St. Paul. Christie and her husband moved to Nisswa, Minn. in 1950, where they owned and operated the Roy Lodge located on Roy Lake for 10 years. Christie was a charter member and very active in the Lutheran Church of the Cross of Nisswa. In 1995, Christie moved to Duluth to live near her son.
Survivors also include a sister of Wyoming, two grandchildren, one great-grandson, and many nephews and nieces, all of Duluth.
Burial was at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis. Arrangements were made by Bell Brothers Funeral and Cremation Services.
Cecelia Mae Johnson
Services were held last week for former Saginaw resident Cecelia Mae Johnson. She died Tues., Sept. 24, 2002 in Duluth at the age of 90.
The Duluth resident was born in Devils Lake, N.D., and had been a Duluth resident since a small child. Cecelia was formerly employed as an executive secretary for Duluth Central and East High Schools for 25 years, retiring in 1976. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, the Twin Ports Genealogical Society, and the retired secretaries.
Cecelia was preceded in death by her parents, sister Patricia, brothers Bernard and John, and a daughter Roberta.
She is survived by a son, two daughters, a sister, eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.
Violet 'Vi' Alyce Fuller
Suzanne Koski of Proctor is saddened by the death of her mother, Violet 'Vi' Alyce Fuller. The Faith Haven Apartments resident died Sat., Sept. 28, 2002, in a Duluth hospital. She was 82.
Vi was born in Duluth. She graduated from Denfeld High School in 1939. She married Harlow Fuller in Duluth in 1942. She was a member of the American Legion Post Home Auxiliary of West Duluth, the Haven Flock Church Group, and Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
She is also survived by three other daughters, a son, 12 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, a niece, three nephews, and numerous friends.
Interment was in Oneota Cemetery.
Lawrence 'Lorry' Otto Clemens
Bridget Seeland of Saginaw is mourning the death of her father Lawrence 'Lorry' Otto Clemens of Alborn. He died Mon., Sept. 23, 2002, in St. Luke's Hospital. He was 61.
Lorry was born in Jamestown, N.D. He was an Army veteran, serving from 1958-1961. He was the lead singer and guitar player for a number of bands, and had the honor of playing for Johnny Cash, Johnny Lydell and Dave Dudley.
He is also survived by a son, two other daughters, nine grandchildren, three sisters, a brother, the band members, and a special friend Kathy Wark.
Inurnment was in Maple Grove Cemetery, Cloquet.
Ann M. Ohme
Norman Ohme of Proctor is mourning the death of his mother, Ann M. Ohme. She died Wed., Sept. 25, 2002, in the Worland Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Worland, Wyo. She was 92.
She was born in Lewistown, Pa. She married Elmer Ohme in 1933 in Ottawa, Ill., and they moved to Pool Location near Hibbing in 1941. She was a homemaker and member of the First Baptist Church of Chisholm and its sewing circle.
She is also survived by another son, two daughters, ten grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.
Interment was in Chisholm Cemetery.
Allen George Skur
Services were held last week for Allen George Skur. The Saginaw resident died Tues., Sept. 24, 2002 in a Duluth hospital. He was 61.
He was born in Virginia, Minn., to George and Alice (Johnson) Skur. Allen graduated from Cook High School in 1959 and went to Virginia Jr. College for two years and graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1963 with a Bachelor's Degree in business. Allen received the Eiijah Watts Sells Award for Honorable Mention in the CPA National Examination for finishing in the top ten, and was also awarded the Harold C. Utley and gold medal for the highest grade in the State of Minnesota upon completing the CPA exam. He was employed for McGladrey and Pullen LLP for 30 years, retiring in 1997, and was currently employed as the CFO for Miner's Inc. He was past president of the Optimist Noon Club, past president of the National Association of Accountants, past president of the Youth Junior Achievement, Chairman of the UMD Advisory Board and on the Board of Directors for Goodwill Industries. Allen was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and former treasurer/executive director.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years Ardell (Walsh) Skur, daughters Carrie (Frank) Haydon of Brooklyn Park, Minn., Sherry (Mark) Beckman of Hayward, Wisc., Christy (Steve) Pouti of Chisago City, Minn., Lori (Paul) Sinnott of Duluth, a son Jeff Skur of Saginaw. six grandchildren, a sister, a brother, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Interment was in Sunrise Memorial Park.
