Roy Steinbrink
RED LAKE FALLS, Minn. -- Roy Steinbrink, 84, Red Lake Falls, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, in Hillcrest Nursing Home, Red Lake Falls, where he had lived since 1998.
Roy Marvin Steinbrink was born May 12, 1916, the son of Paul and Judith (Lerum) Steinbrink, in Crookston, where he attended school. He later moved to Polk Center Township, Pennington County, where he farmed until retiring in 1977. In 1986, he moved to Fair View Manor, Red Lake Falls.
He is survived by sisters, Hazel Hoiseth and Esther (Gilbert) Weber, both of Crookston.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Orval, Ralph and Kermit; and a sister, Avis Steinbrink.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Monday, St. John's Lutheran Church, Red Lake Falls.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home, Crookston, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Oakdale cemetery, Crookston.
Mary Campbell
ERSKINE, Minn. -- Mary Campbell, 81, Erskine, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, in First Care Hospital, Fosston, Minn.
Mary Ellen Fleischman was born May 23, 1919, the daughter of Adam and Mary (Muir) Fleischman, in Joliet, Ill., where she attended school. She married
James Campbell and they lived in Chicago. In the 1970s, she moved to Fosston, then lived in Crookston before moving to Erskine.
She is survived by a son, Edward (Sheila), Las Vegas; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and brothers, Terry, Joliet, and David (Marianne), Ely, Minn.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Anne Ziegler, Helen Nutini and Esther Terry.
Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, Pioneer Memorial Care Center, Erskine.
Visitation: One hour before services in the nursing home.
Burial: St. Lawrence Catholic cemetery, Mentor, Minn. (Carlin-Hoialmen, Erskine).
Florence Johnson
ROSEAU, Minn. -- Florence Johnson, 88, Roseau, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, in Greenbush (Minn.) Nursing Home.
Florence Johnson was born Jan. 8, 1912, the daughter of Manfred and Beth (Robinson), in Mahtowa, Minn., where she attended school. She married
Elmer Johnson in 1931, in Mahtowa. They lived in Duluth, Minneapolis, Grand Forks and Bemidji. In the 1960s, they moved to Roseau. She worked at Eventide retirement home.
She is survived by sons, Philip (Janet), Roseau, and Lynden, Roseville, Minn.; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Services: 5 p.m. Wednesday, Helgeson Funeral Chapel, Roseau.
Visitation: One hour before services in the funeral home.
Delford Johnson
ADA, Minn. -- Delford "Punk" Johnson, 76, Ada, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at home.
Delford Johnson was born July 8, 1924, the son of David and Bertha (Torske) Johnson, in Ada, where he graduated from high school in 1943. He served in the military during World War II as a member of the 8th Air Force 100th Bomb Group. After the war, he attended UND until joining his father in business in Ada at Ada Feed and Seed. He became a partner in the business with Richard Wagner until retiring in 1985. He married
Betty Remark on Aug. 20, 1948, in Ada.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Clare (Marv) Degerness, Moorhead; a stepgranddaughter; a stepgreat-grandson; a sister, Jocelyn Bennefeld, Ada; and a brother, Ronald (Audrey), Springfield, Minn.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara; a son, Paul; and a brother, Merton.
Services: 3 p.m. Wednesday, Ada Borup High School Gymnasium, Ada.
Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Faith United Church, Ada.

Chester Venn
PERLEY, Minn. -- Chester M. Venn, 87, Perley, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000, in Halstad (Minn.) Lutheran Memorial Home.
Chester Malvin Venn was born Feb. 1, 1913, the son of Martin and Clara (Johnson) Venn, near Hendrum, Minn. He worked on several farms in the Hendrum area. He served in World War II and was discharged on Aug. 28, 1946. He married
Dorothy Olson on Oct. 10, 1936, in Perley, where they lived. During the mid 1950s to the early 1970s, he worked road construction for Strum Construction in North Dakota and Minnesota. He also worked sugar beet campaigns for American Crystal Sugar Co., Moorhead, from the 1950s until becoming a full-time employee in 1973. He retired in 1978. He mowed grass for the city of Perley and worked on the farm for Oscar and Ella Guttormson.
He is survived by his wife, of Halstad; a son, Milan (Mavis), Liberty, Utah; a daughter, Delores (Jack) Clark, Missoula, Mont.; three grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Palmer and Gilbert; and a sister, Isabelle Oien.
Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Kirkebo Lutheran Church, Perley.
Visitation: One hour before services.
Burial: Kirkebo Lutheran cemetery (Fredrikson, Halstad).
George Wheatley
WAUBUN, Minn. -- George W. Wheatley III, 84, Ogema, Minn., formerly of Waubun, died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.
George William Wheatley III was born May 20, 1916, the son of George II and Eva (Nichols) Wheatley, in Baltimore, Md. He served in the U.S. Army. After his discharge, he moved to Dearborn, Mich., where he worked for 24 years as head security agent at world headquarters for Ford Motor Co. He married
Rozella Kilgore on Jan. 20, 1968, in Ann Arbor, Mich. He retired in 1978 and they moved to Florida. In January 1999, they moved to Waubun, and in 2000, to Strawberry Lake, Minn.
He is survived by his wife, of Ogema; a son, Douglas (Rosie) Fairbanks, Ogema; and a brother, Martin, Baltimore.
He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Services: Will be held at a later date (Mattson, Mahnomen, Minn.).
Archie Wander
WAUBUN, Minn. -- Archie Wander, 90, Waubun, died Monday, Nov. 6, 2000, in the Veteran's Administration Medical Center, Fargo.
Archibald Matthew Wander was born Jan. 29, 1910, the son of Leonard "Leon" and Maria (Winter) Wander, in Springhill, Minn. He moved with his family to Waubun, where he grew up. He began shearing sheep and continued this trade in Minnesota, North Dakota and Montana. He worked for farmers in North Dakota during the summers and cut timber in California and Oregon in the winter. He also worked as a warehouser for the California-Oregon Power Co., and worked in construction building mountain highways. He served in the U.S. Army from March 20, 1942 to Sept. 16, 1943.
He is survived by brothers, Orville (Patty), Ogema, Minn., and John (Vera), Moorhead; and sisters, Irene Hamn and Esther Stevenson, both of Portland, Ore., Rosalie Nelson, Grantsburg, Wis., and Jeannette Dalman and Hilma Bice, both of Detroit Lakes, Minn.
He was preceded in death by a sister; and two brothers.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Friday, St. Ann's Catholic Church, Waubun.
Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. today, with at 6: 30 p.m. prayer service, Anderson Funeral Home, Mahnomen, Minn., and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: St. Ann's Catholic cemetery, Waubun.
