Sarff, Carl Michael
October 17, 1955 - July 6, 2015
Age 59 of Chaska. The world's greatest Green Bay Packer's fan, Carl Michael Sarff, has been added to Heaven's All Star Line Up. He was born October 17, 1955 in Rice Lake, WI to Dona Mae and Carl Jackson Sarff, older brother to Susan Jacqueline. Carl Michael passed away in his sleep from kidney failure in his home in Chaska, MN with his loving wife, Julie, and his children by his side on July 6th, 2015. Carl Michael Sarff grew up in Chetek, WI. The high school football star graduated in 1973. He packed up his roller-skates and moved to the Twin Cities. In 1979, he was in a life-altering car accident that left him in the hospital fighting for his life. It was there that his flirtation with the nurses landed him a wife, Pamela Reischel. They married
in 1980 and had 2 beautiful children, Justin Carl and Haley Marie. Although the couple divorced, Carl claimed Pamela's third child, Christopher Jerome, as his own. In 1997, Carl mixed business with pleasure by marrying Julie (Harmening) Shewchuk, his new business and life partner. He also adding Julie's daughter, Nicole (Shewchuk) Phillips, to his family tree. Living in Chaska, MN, the couple grew their successful cleaning business. Their loving home is where Carl loved to putter in his garden and where he proudly earned his first Girl Scout patch for patience. Carl, the “animal whisperer,” loved to play with his cats—“the boys"—and his dog, Roxy. He loved playing a good game of cribbage, watching WWE, Monster Trucks and, of course, his beloved Green Bay Packers, all while pacing in the kitchen and meticulously organizing his Tupperware. When he was not vacationing in some tropical paradise, Carl loved the Minnesota State Fair. He loved walking through all the buildings and trying the new foods, but he could not leave without getting a foot-long hotdog with sauerkraut and onions. He was a dedicated member of Diamond Lake Lutheran Church where he greeted everyone with a smile and was the "coffee man of the kitchen." He had many loves and many gifts, but his greatest gift was making people smile, especially his grandson and little buddy, Myron. Whether you knew him as Carl, Mike, dad or grandpa he will always be remembered as an amazing man with an immense amount of patience, his constant dedication and his positive outlook on life. preceded in death by parents Donna Mae Severude and Carl Jackson; stepfather Kenny Severude; grandparents Severt and Esther Solum; first wife’s father, Jerome Reischel; mother-in-law, Virginia Nyblom and father-in-law Lester Harmening. Survivors include Julie, his loving wife of 18 years; first wife, Pam Nichols of Brooklyn Center, MN; son, Justin Sarff (fiancé Katherine Denne) of Zimmerman, MN; daughter and son-in-law Haley (Stephen) DeLong of Minneapolis, MN; step-daughter, Nicole (Cori) Phillips of Glencoe, MN; son, Christopher Sarff Norbom and girlfriend, Anna Denanath of Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren, Myron DeLong and Hunter Phillips and sister, Susan (Dave) Tindell of Birchwood, WI. A celebration of Carl Sarff's life will be held at Diamond Lake Lutheran Church, 5760 Portland Ave. Minneapolis, MN 55417 on Friday, July 10, 2015, visitation at 10:00, and service at 11:00. In lieu of commercial flowers, feel free to bring flowers from your garden since Carl loved to putter in his.
