Vasquez, James

Age 58 ~ Of St. Paul passed away peacefully on April 23, 2013 following a battle with pancreatic cancer. JV was born in St. Paul on Sept. 13, 1954. He worked for years in the warehouse of The Sportsman's Guide, but he was best known during his life as a brilliant drummer who was a part of many bands, including the 1970s local Twin Cities funk/soul/ R&B group The Band of Thieves. JV will be missed by his loving partner, Beverly Williamson; mother, Jackie (Rich) Osuna; father, Masedonio "Doe" Vasquez; children, Diego (Gaby) Vasquez, Tiana Darst, Alexis Vasquez and Alain Vasquez; sister Gena (Joseph) Vasquez-Garcia; half-sister Melissa Vasquez; nephew Joseph Garcia; and many other loving relatives and friends. A memorial gathering to celebrate the life of JV will be held on from 4-6 p.m. on Monday, April 29, at Thompson County Park's Dakota Lodge, 1200 Stassen Lane, West St. Paul, Minn.

Age 72 of West St. Paul, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2013, after battling cancer. Retired Director of Services for Students with Disabilities at Inver Hills Community College. Master gardener, volunteer and nature photographer. She is survived by her brothers, Ron (Ann) and Bob (Elaine); nieces and nephews, D'Anna, Theresa, Michael, Tina, Jennifer, and Brett; her special dog, Sophie; and many loving relatives and friends. Special thanks to Health East Hospice and Good Samaritan of IGH. Preceded by her parents, Myrl and Sally; sister, Merle Ann. Memorial service Monday, May 6, 5PM at Augustana Lutheran Church, 1400 S. Age 55 of St. Paul, Formerly of Lapeer, MI passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2013. He was born October 27, 1957 in Lansing, MI to parents John and Gloria (Fattal) Michelson. Tom graduated from Macalester College in St. Paul in 1982 with degrees in Theatre and Religion. He married
wife Laura (Dopkins) of Wausau, WI on July 18, 1987. Tom loved conversing, music, art, literature, poetry, nature, good jokes, bad jokes, good food, good wine, and his family. He will be remembered for his dynamic and magnificent voice, which was taken from him at the end. He is survived by his loving wife, Laura, daughter Hannah of Stillwater, OK, son Nathaniel of St. Paul, his parents John and Gloria Michelson of Lapeer, MI, sisters Patricia (John) Barsalou of Linden, MI, Carolyn Dougherty of Flushing, MI and several loving nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Saturday, April 27 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Willwerscheid Funeral Home, 1167 Grand Ave, St Paul 651-228-1006 . A memorial service will be held on Sunday April 28 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 900 Summit Ave, St Paul at 3:00 pm, with visitation prior to the service at 2:00 pm and a reception following the service. Rev. Norma Rae Hunt will be officiating. Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers to the family or to St Paul's United Church of Christ.

Son Joe Schuster preceded him in death. Schools, St. Francis de Sales, Cretin High, United States Merchant Marine Academy of 1945, U of MN 1948 BS ME, Lt. Jg USNR, Second Assistant Engineer US Coast Guard, licensed unlimited horsepower. Joe's most notable wartime experience during winter months of WWII was to Murmansk Russia when the casualty rate was at its highest. Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 AM, Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at the Historic Church of St. Peter in Mendota. Burial following Mass, at Fort Snelling cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Church of St. Peter.

Age 61 of St. Paul, MN made a graceful exit Saturday, April 6, the second anniversary of his cancer diagnosis. preceded in death by parents, Phyllis Jane Chamberlain and Philip Alward Kilbourne, step-father, Jack Middlebrook, and step-brother, John Middlebrook. Survived by wife of 16 years (friend for 45), Marysue Moses; step-daughter, Eliza Swanson; siblings, Kathy DiVittorio, Tom (Joan) Kilbourne, Anne (Amos) Hamilton, and Peter Kilbourne; and many nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts, uncles and "outlaws" from the Kilbourne/ Moses extended family. A brilliant and accomplished actor, an eloquently entertaining writer, and a comic genius, Phil earned his BFA from Boston University and his MFA from The Ohio State University. He performed in hundreds of plays, mostly in Massachusetts and the Twin Cities, where he was named Best Actor 2005 by City Pages. Phil persevered through the challenges of metastatic melanoma with acerbic wit and grit. His kind heart, amazing intellect, deep, loud voice, culinary expertise and spontaneous sense of the absurd will be sorely missed by family, friends, colleagues and fans. Memorial donations preferred to CaringBridge, Jungle Theater, Penumbra Theatre, or St. Croix Hospice. Memorial celebration will be on Monday, June 10, 2013, 7 PM, Jungle Theater, Minneapolis.

Age 92 of Bloomingtonand SE Mpls. Preceded by her sister, Frances Miller. Jean was called the "Energizer Bunny" by family and friends. She had many medical problems but kept "going and going." She organized many a family and friend get- together. She remembered everyone's birthday with a card (and a lot of cakes.) She was the picture taker at all events, leaving us with many memories. She will be missed by many but especially by her husband of 72 years, Bjorn; also survived by daughter, Karen Larson; sons, Ross (Sharon) and Eric (Laurie); 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, including her sister's children, Anne, Mark, Chad, Laura and Jane. Visitation 10-11 AM, Service at 11 AM, Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Peace Lutheran Church, 8600 E. Bush Lake Rd., Bloomington.
