Jewel Edsel Gay, age 79, of Shakopee, died on Monday, March 12, 2012, at St. Gertrude's Care Center in Shakopee. Born in Smithville, Tennessee, on April 23, 1932, the son of Willie and Susie (Pirtle) Gay. He married
Marinda Hudson. Jewel served in the United States Army. He worked his entire career for Northern Construction Company, based in Lakeville.
Jewel is survived by wife, Marinda; daughters, Linda Kubiszewski and Andrea Gay; grandchildren, Jessica Kubiszewski, Kenneth Kubiszewski, Cody Gay, Kristyn Barrington, Mathan Schoknecht, Mamie Schoknecht; great-grandchildren, Jabin Kubiszewski, Austin Egbers; brothers, Ralph Gay, Ronald Gay; sisters, Evelyn Underwood, Naomi Cripps, Dean Waggoner. preceded in death by parents; brother, Austin Gay; infant brother, Donald Gay.
Charles Goebel

Chuck Goebel, age 79, of Shakopee, died on Sunday, March 11, 2012, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. He was born in Arlington, MN, on August 3, 1932, the son of Alfred and Cora (Timm) Goebel. Chuck married
Carol Willmsen on June 21st, 1953, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Arlington, MN. Chuck served in the United States Army. He was a member of the American Legion Post 2 in Shakopee. From 1967-1975 he was the owner of Chuck's Pastry Shoppe in Shakopee. He enjoyed spending time with family, woodworking, fishing and camping, all the local sports teams, and having coffee with the guys at the bakery. Survived by wife, Carol; children, Brenda (Dave) Groschen, Linda (Gary) Kube, Rhonda (Steve) Rosvold, Kevin (Margie) Goebel; grandchildren, Mike (Amy), Katie (Devin), Joe (Cassie), Jesse (Tiffany), Adam (Krystal), Kristin, Matt (Sonja), Danielle, and Dylan; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Austin, Jordyn, Brady, Connor; sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Dwaine Felmlee; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Allen and Lois Willmsen; sister-in-law, Connie Peik. preceded in death by parents, Alfred and Cora Goebel; and infant son.
Richard D. Kintigh

Richard D. Kintigh, age 62, of Eagan, died on Saturday, March 10, 2012, at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina. He was born in Goshen, Indiana, on November 13, 1949, the son of Roland Bud Kintigh and Mary Louise Barney Barnhart. He was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, and graduate of Indiana University, with a BA in Education. Richard started an alternative education center for children in Bloomington, IN. He also taught in Houston, TX. Richard was a partner for a restaurant in Austin, TX. Avid golfer, fan of Hoosier basketball and the local sports teams. He also enjoyed traveling to Mexico and family vacations, especially 4th of July trips to Rochester, IN, to the family cottage.
Loving husband and father to Kelly and Alec, both of Eagan; also survived by brothers, William (Bonnie) of LaGrange, IL, Tom of Martinez, CA; mother-in-law, Patricia (Lee) Kness of Savage; father-in-law, J.C. Kohlrusch of Shakopee; sister-in-law, Janae (Mike) Larsen of Shakopee; many nieces and nephews. preceded in death by parents, Bud Kintigh and Barney Seward; brother-in-law, Wade Kohlrusch; step-mother-in-law, Patty Kohlrusch.
Gregory A. Hergott

Gregory A. Hergott, age 51, of Shakopee, died on Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Shakopee.
Greg was employed as a custodian by the Shakopee Public Schools. He loved life, and had an easy going nature about himself; he tried to please everyone with his huge heart. Greg would always pull for the underdog, and was a natural athlete, excelling in baseball. He enjoyed spending time on his motorcycles.
Survived by daughter, Jennifer (Derek) Everett; sons, Joel, Alan, and Ben Hergott; parents, John and Deanna Hergott; grandchildren, Katelynn Hergott and Carter Everett; brother, Dave (Brenda) Hergott; sister, Renee Carkhuff (Steve Walden), all of Shakopee; many nieces and nephews. preceded in death by nephew, Ryan Carkhuff.

Alex was born in the Ukraine on January 6, 1986, the son of Val and Tatyana (Titarenko) Trofim.
Virginia M. Pickus

Virginia M. Pickus, age 78, of Savage, died on Sunday, February 26, 2012, at her residence in Savage. Born on July 7, 1933, the daughter of George and Annie (Lallak) Coleman. She married
Gordon E. Pickus on April 1, 1950. Virginia worked for Green Giant Container Company, and later Silgan, both in Savage.
Virginia is preceded in death by her husband, Gordon; son, Henry; parents; brothers and sister, Irv, Howard, Bucky, and Irene.
Survivors include her sons and daughters, Eugene (Judy), Vernon (Susan), Darrell, Bonnie Jeurissen, Joanne (Jim) Nelsen, Irene (Mike) LeMieux, Sandy Pickus, and Brenda Pickus; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Elgar A. Thune

Elgar Arnold Thune, Jr., age 77, passed away 2-24-12 at Friendship Manor Nursing Home, Shakopee, MN. Elgar Arnie was born in 1934 to Ruth (Torgerson) and Elgar Thune, Sr. in Worcester, Massachusetts. The family lived in Chicago and Saint Paul before settling in Adams, MN. After graduating from Adams High School, Arnie joined the Army and spent time in Germany and touring Europe. Then returning from duty, he worked for Minneapolis Moline for a number of years. Arnie spent the later part of his life in Albert Lea, MN where he worked for Streeter Company. He was a machinist before retiring.
Arnie was a colorful character in Albert Lea. He enjoyed his apartment above the Eagles Club where he had wonderful neighbors. Arnold spent many hours walking or riding his red scooter around town, touring the parks, gardening, shopping, hanging out at the antique store, greeting the workers at the bank and hospital cafeteria. He enjoyed going on trips. He visited many exotic locations around the world. Arnold was a unique person, and he will be missed by many.
Our family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers needed in Arnie's battle with dementia, especially Valley View Assisted Living of Jordan, Community Care of Shakopee, Friendship Manor Nursing Home, Heartland Hospice, Scott County Social Services, and McNearney Funeral Home of Shakopee.
Survivors include sister, Barbara Panser of Owatonna, MN; brother, Bob (Susie) Thune of Austin, MN, 2 brothers-in-law, 10 nieces and nephews, many great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by parents, Elgar Thune, Sr. and Ruth Thune; sisters, Beverly Lillquist and Lenore Dammann.
Cornelia E. Berens

Connie E. Berens, age 81, of Shakopee. Beloved mother and grandmother, peacefully left us on February 23, 2012 to join her heavenly Father. Born July 8, 1930, in St. Paul, MN. She attended the College of St. Catherine & moved to Shakopee where she began a teaching career. She met and married
Anthony Bud Berens and raised her family.
Connie had a zest for life. She was a member of the St. Mark's CCW for many years. She was a very religious woman who loved gardening, travel, golf, bowling and spending time with her family. Connie served as a Girl Scout leader, election judge, chamber of commerce volunteer and as a tax preparer for low income families. Her energetic spirit touched so many lives in so many ways. Her laughter and smile will be remembered by all.
Survived by children, Paul (Cindy), Ken, Mary (Dave) Hauger, Patricia (Bob) Kane, Ellen (John) Walker; grandchildren, Zach, Caitlin, & Kelsey Berens, Lexi Berens, Emily & Maria Hauger, Matt & Shannon Kane; siblings, Catherine (Leonard) Schmidt, Clare Vogel, Marion Theis, Alice (Jerry) Pahl, James (Alice) Vogel; brother-in-law, Gene Peltier; many nieces and nephews. preceded in death by her husband, Bud Berens; parents, Mary and Peter Vogel; brothers, John (Dorothy) Vogel, and Joseph Vogel; sister, Ann Peltier; brother-in-law, John Theis. Rosemary F., age 86, of Shakopee. Born on August 6, 1925, in Slayton Village, Minnesota, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Pille) Kopel. After high school, Rosemary went on to become a nurses assistant. She married
Frederick Ashton on September 25, 1945. Rosie enjoyed to work, but her number one priority was her children. She was active at her church, Church of St. Mark in Shakopee, and especially liked helping with Loaves and Fishes. Rosie was a nurses aid at St. Francis Hospital.
Survived by daughters and sons, JoAnn (Bob) Smishek, Bob (Sandy), Nancy (Bob) MacDonald, David; 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; sister, Leona Schafer; daughter-in-law, Nann Ashton. Preceded by husband, Frederick; son, Donald; sisters and brothers.

Amy Ellen Crooks-Larca, Blue Sky Woman. Mahtiya To Winyan, age 65, of Prior Lake, born on November 13, 1946, in Pipestone, MN, the daughter of Amos and Rosemma (Coursolle) journeyed to the Spirit World on April 1, 2012. Member of the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community.
At various times, Amy served as the Chairman, Vice Chairman, and Secretary/Treasurer of the SMSC Business Council.

Earl J. Weckman died at home on the family farm on 3/28/12, just 3 days short of his 86th birthday. Born on April 1, 1926, the son of John and Anna (Schneider) Weckman. Earl married
Marian Stelten on May 29, 1945, at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Chaska. For 40 years, he was the Treasurer of Jackson Township. Besides his wife, Earl's other loves were farming and family.
Earl was preceded in death by his wife, Marian (1992); parents, John and Anna; Siblings Silvinus Weckman, Viola Casserly, Bernadette Streitz, Germain Weckman, Ralph Weckman.

Patricia L. Sopsic, age 64, of Shakopee, died on Monday, March 26, 2012, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Born on September 8, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Patrick and Georgiana (Manac) Homer.
Patricia worked for the University of Minnesota Physicians, and was the Operations Manager for Radiology and Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
Survivors include her husband, John; sons, Paul and wife Karen, and John and wife Jennifer; daughter, Jennifer; grandchildren, Kira and Brooke, Christian, Wyatt; father, Patrick Homer; brothers and sisters, Geoffrey, Mark, Brian, Laura, Cindy. preceded in death by her mother, Georgiana.
