Randal W. Johnson, 49
Died: April 7, 2004, in Merit Care Hospital.
Randal W. Johnson, 49, of Detroit Lakes, MN, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on April 7, 2004, at MeritCare Hospital, in the presence of family.
Randy was born December 29, 1954 in Detroit Lakes, MN, to H. Warren and Delores (Morton) Johnson. Randy grew up on the family farm south of Lake Park. Life on the farm included 4-H, showing cattle at the State Fair, softball games and cattle judging.
Since 1984, Randy owned and operated Randy's on Lake Eunice, where he identified and connected with many different groups of people, all of whom he considered good friends. These people included team penners, golfers, music lovers, race enthusiasts, sports fans, card players, hunters, fellow trivia buffs and Jeopardy watchers. Randy was particularly proud of his "little bit of heaven", his farm just north of Lake Eunice.
Randy's friends and family will miss his generosity, sense of humor and quick wit! His positive attitude and tremedous courage these last few years were amazing.
He was preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by his mother, Delores Johnson, Hawley, MN; five sisters, Vicki (Mike) Reek, Fargo, ND, Nancy (Eric) Wermager, Hawley, MN, Karla (Scott) Dahl, Cleveland, OH, Carmen (Troy) Olson, Hawley, MN, Stacy (Kent) McKercher, Bemidji, MN; one brother, Mark (Bonnie) Johnson, Fargo, ND; ten nieces and nephews (and two more on the way).
Ronald P. Brantner, 51
Died: Friday, June 4, 2004, in SCCI Hospital, Fargo.
Ronald P. Brantner, 51, Moorhead, MN, died on June 4, 2004, at SCCI Hospital, Fargo, ND.
Ronald was born on May 20, 1953, in Burbank CA. He grew up and attended school in Glyndon, MN, graduating from Glyndon-Felton High School in 1971. He then continued on to Concordia College and received a Business Degree in 1975. Ronald had a love of life that was contagious including working on the farm, bicycling, cross country skiing, playing tennis, listening to rock-n-roll, and spending time with family.
Ronald is survived by his mother; Arlys Brantner, Dilworth, MN, two brothers; Kelly (Teresa) Brantner, Felton, MN, Steve (Anne) Brantner, Eden Prairie, MN, one sister; Polly (Neil) Hanson, Glyndon, MN, one niece; Abigail, and seven nephews; Erik, Jerod, Matthew, Justin, Cody, Taylor, Maxwell, and one grandmother, Olive Brantner, Moorhead, MN.
Ronald is preceded in death by his father; Perry Brantner, and one brother; Douglas Brantner.
Earl A. Moran, 95
Died: February 25, 2005, in his home at the Evergreens in Moorhead.
Earl Moran, 94, Moorhead, MN, went home to God on Friday, February 25, 2005, at his residence, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Earl A. Moran was born on February 12, 1911, to Earl and Viola (Adkins) Moran, in Moorhead, MN. He grew up and attended school in Moorhead, graduating from Moorhead High School in 1930. Earl was an all-around athlete. Beginning in the eighth grade and throughout his high school years, he started on five straight Moorhead High teams that advanced to the state basketball tournaments. He was named "All-State" the last three of those years.
Earl attended Concordia College, 1930-1934, and was a "key" to the school's first ever basketball conference title, in 1930-31. Earl earned "All-State" honors in basketball that year. The next fall, he was a "running back" for the Cobbers' first conference football champions. He continued as a dual-sport "stand-out" throughout his college years.
Earl married
the love of his life, Wilma Hazel Quick, on April 13, 1933, in Sisseton, SD. They made their home in Moorhead until 1962. They lived in Bloomington, MN, until 1976. Earl retired from the beverage business that year, and they moved to Detroit Lakes. Wilma died on March 16, 1986. In 1996, Earl moved to Glyndon, MN. In 2002, he moved to The Evergreens in Moorhead, where he lived until the time of his death.
Earl is survived by one son, John (Carol) Moran, Detroit Lakes, MN; two daughters, Pat Johnson, Glyndon, MN, and Erlys (Dick) Barnett, Moorhead, MN; eight grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Viola; his wife, Wilma; a great-grandson, David; and a son-in-law, Kenneth E. Johnson.
In lieu of flowers, the Moran family requests donations be sent to Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Lydia M. Swanson, 95

Lydia M. Swanson, 95, of Moorhead, died on Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at Moorhead Healthcare Center, Moorhead, MN.
Lydia was born on December 29, 1909 in Baudette, MN to Henrik and Emma Nelson.
She grew up and attended school in Alvarado, MN.
Lydia managed the Rex Hotel for 14 years until her retirement in 1961.

Lydia is survived by her husband Ben Swanson, Moorhead, MN; one daughter, Gladyce Bjelverud, Baudette, MN; one sister, Violet O'Donnell, Le High Acres, FL; and one granddaughter Lori (Dino) Kulas, Alexandria, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Edward and Herbert; three sisters, Myrtle Nelson, Helen Mohn, and Elsa Haack; and two infant grandchildren.
Ilah L. Wibe, 78
Died: Monday, March 21, 2005, in Meritcare's Palliative Care Unit, Fargo, ND.
Ilah Wibe of Moorhead, MN passed away at MeritCare Palliative Care Unit, in Fargo, after a short battle with cancer on March 21, 2005.
Ilah Lucille Wibe was born to Anton and Nora (Anderson) Wibe on July 2, 1926 in the Rollag area. She was baptized at Rollag Lutheran Church and confirmed in 1941 at Highland Grove Church. She attended country school in Clay and Becker County. She later moved with her family to the Hitterdal area, graduating from Hitterdal High School in 1943.
She received her RN degree at Trinity Hospital in Jamestown, ND and Certificate in Public Health Nursing from the University of Minnesota. She worked in Public Health nursing in western North Dakota, Alaska and the Red Lake Indian Reservation in Minnesota. She worked in various hospitals in Helena, MT, Ada, MN, Bismarck, ND and St. Luke's in Fargo, ND. She retired in 1986 from the VA Hospital in Fargo. She was currently a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Moorhead, MN.
Ilah is survived by her brother Arvo (Beverly), Hitterdal, MN: sister in law Ruth Wibe (Hollis Heimark), Moorhead; eight nieces and nephews, eighteen great nieces and nephews and five great-great nieces and nephews, her two aunts, Orpha Anderson of Pelican Rapids, MN and Ethel Turner of Fair Oaks, CA.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brother Orris.
Ilah enjoyed gardening, family geneology, quilting and traveling. Ilah will always be remembered by her family for her independence.
Ramona K. Braseth,

Ramona K. Braseth passed away on January 24, 2004 in her home at rural Lake Park, Minnesota.
Ramona Braseth was born March 13, 1940. She attended Lake Park Schools until the age of 14. She moved to Clio, Michigan to live with her brother, Everett, and his wife, Ada. She graduated from high school in Swartz Creek, Michigan. She married
Bob Millwood in 1959 and had 3 children. She lived in Michigan until she retired from AO Smith Corporation and moved back to Lake Park in October, 2003. Ramona was an active member in the ladies auxiliary for the Eagles and the AmVets. She worked with the Red Cross. Ramona loved animals and she did a lot of volunteer work to raise money for the Humane Society. She was also very interested in Native American culture.
Ramona is survived by two sons, Teddy (Carol) Millwood, Gwinn, MI, and Toby Millwood, Skandia, MI; two brothers, Benneth (Sue) Braseth, Lake Park, MN, and Donald (Leanne) Braseth, Coon Rapids, MN; five sisters, Elda (Carlton) St. Denis, Beach Park, IL, Alvida Denton, Lancaster, OH, Geneva (Gordon) Bennett, Hawley, MN, Carol Braseth, St. Cloud, MN, Rachel (Curtis) Anderson, Lake Park, MN; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her two beloved dogs, Tegan and Sabie. Ramona was preceded in death by her parents, Anna and Oscar Braseth, 2 brothers, Everett and Kenneth, one sister, Barbara Vaag, and her daughter, Terri Millwood.
Richard A. McGough, 5
Died: Thursday, June 10, 2004, in his home.
Richard Allen McGough was born on September 10, 1945, to Ed and Edna (Melsness) McGough in Moorhead, MN. He grew up and attended school in Moorhead, and this is where he met and on January 31, 1965 married
, Jane Kronbeck, his loving and devoted wife of 39 years.
He worked for Fargo Foundry as a welder and then for Wally Oscarson as a carpet installer before becoming a partner in Twin City Carpet. Richard retired in 1988 due to health issues.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his sons, grandsons and nephews. His love for his family was immeasurable. His grandchildren, Tommy, Jake, Ryan and Nikki Sue were the light of his life.
On June 10, 2004, at his home in Downer, Richard peacefully left his family here on earth and joined his family in heaven consisting of his parents and 2 brothers, Chuck McGough of Valley City, ND and Joe McGough, Dilworth, MN; and 4 sisters, Margaret (McGough) Braaten, Moorhead, MN, Virginia (McGough) Zasada, St. Paul, MN, Beverly (McGough) Larson, Moorhead, MN, Shari (McGough) Bowlus, Dilworth, MN; and 2 sister in laws, Dori McGough, Valley City, ND and Linda McGough, Detroit Lakes, MN; and 2 brother in laws, Byron Bowlus, Dilworth, MN, and Earl Braaten, Moorhead, MN.
Richard leaves behind a family who loved him dearly. His wife Jane of Downer, MN; daughter Tammy (Corry) VanMil, Lake Park, MN; two sons, Kevin (Susan) McGough, Downer, MN, Keith (Teresa) McGough, Glyndon, MN; 4 foster sons, Vern Halvorson, Moorhead, MN, Bemo, Berto and Jermey Martinez of Downer, MN; one brother, James McGough, Detroit Lakes, MN; and three sisters, Dorthy Lemke, Moorhead, MN, Carol (Robert) Swenson, Dilworth, MN, Susie Hanson, Dilworth, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
We are returning our husband, dad, grandpa and brother to you, God, to care for him until the day comes when we can be with him again surrounded by your love in heaven.
