Kent R. Nelson age 21 of Detroit Lakes, MN died Monday August 23, 2010 in Bozeman, Montana.
Kent Nelson was born on April 17, 1989 in St. Louis Park, MN to David and Deanna David Nelson. He grew up and attended school in Detroit Lakes, MN, graduating from Detroit Lakes High School in 2008. He was currently a student at Montana State University, where he served in the Reserve Officer Training Corp., was treasurer of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, and was also an honor student.
While at Detroit Lakes High School he was a member of the swim team. Kent was an artist. He also enjoyed snowboarding and playing bass guitar. He had a warm, loving open heart, and was always there for others. His smile would light up a room and people were naturally drawn to him.
Kent is survived by his parents, one brother, Derek Nelson, of Detroit Lakes; one sister, Savannah Nelson, of Detroit Lakes; maternal grandparents, Ron and Barbara David, of Walker, MN; one niece, Alice Nelson; several aunts and uncles; and Godparents, Barry and Pearl Cervenka, of Bemidji, MN.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Edwin and Marie Nelson.
Dr. Donald G. Peterson
Dr. Donald Gordon Peterson, 91, of Oxlip passed away on Monday, February 22, 2016 at his home.
He was born on March 2, 1924 in Minneapolis, MN to Russell and Naomi (Jernell) Peterson. Don grew up in Minneapolis but he spent his summers working on his grandparents’ farm in Oxlip. At the age of 17 Don spent nearly a year in the hospital after being diagnosed with polio. He graduated from Edison High School in 1943. Don attended the University of Minnesota and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in natural science and a minor in zoology in 1946. He continued at the U of MN to earn a Master of Arts degree with a major in secondary school administration and a minor in zoology in 1949. He went on to teach science at Temple University and also served as Director of the Evening School of the Community College and Technical Institute of Temple University. Don spent two summers at Eckels College of Mortuary Science in Philadelphia as a guest lecturer. In 1965 he began teaching at St. Cloud State University and also continued his studies at the U of MN to earn his doctorate in 1968.
He retired from St. Cloud State in 1993.
On December 26, 1964 he married
Melva Peterson at Zion Lutheran Church of Crown. Don and Melva had a son Jim and Melva had five children with her first husband Clements Peterson.
Don enjoyed reading, politics, history, keeping up with current events. He was always learning things to educate himself as well as teaching others. He loved to learn about family ancestry and local history. Don was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church of Crown, a member of the Cambridge-Isanti School Board, and Cambridge Memorial Hospital Board.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Melva in January 2014, sons Tommy and Terry Peterson, brother Gordon W. Peterson and sister-in-law Betty Peterson.
Don is survived by his children Marnie (Lynn) Guthrie of North Branch, Lori (Terry) Daudt of Longville, Cathy (Ken) Drilling of Isanti, Jim (Karen) Peterson of Oxlip, daughters-in-law Allison Adkins of Longville, Judy Peterson of Milbank, SD, 15 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren, brother R. Dale Peterson of Oxlip, sister-in-law Marilyn Peterson of Maple Lake, as well as many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Robert Carriere
Robert W. Carriere, 93, formerly of Foley and Cambridge, Minnesota, died September 6, 2015 at the Good Shepherd Community in Becker, Minnesota, surrounded by family with his wife at his side. He was born January 26, 1922, in Buhl, Minnesota, the son of Joseph and Emily Carriere. Robert graduated from Middle River High School in 1939 and enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II, and was commissioned into active duty shortly after graduation from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. He spent most of his service time in the Pacific, where he served honorably on the U.S.S. Heywood through the end of the war. Robert married
Eva Anderson on June 15, 1947, in Middle River, Minnesota. One son and four daughters were born to them. After completion of his Master’s Degree from the University of North Dakota in 1955, Robert spent the remainder of his working years as the Foley High School Principal. Robert was an active member of the Maywood Covenant Church in Foley and spent years ushering at both Maywood and North Isanti Baptist Church in Cambridge. In addition to his faithful service to his church families, Robert was also an active volunteer in the community, teaching 55 Alive, served as an election judge, fulfilling duties as campground host at various state parks, and compassionately volunteering time to his community family at GracePointe Crossing (formerly known as River Hills).
Robert was preceded in death by his father and mother, sister Clara and brother-in-law Sam Jacobs, sister Gladys and brother-in-law Bruce Dunning, brother Raymond and sister-in-law Lael, brother James “Snooky”, and granddaughter Gina (John and Barb) Holmquist.
Survivors include Eva, his loving wife of 68 years, sister-in-law Mildred (“Snooky”) Carriere, children Lowell (Marilyn) Carriere, Jan (Steve) Skadsberg, Barb (John) Holmquist, Beth (Terry) Young, Nancy (Willy) Watsabaugh, 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and many other family members and friends.
Robert's family would like to thank the healthcare and hospice staff of Good Shepherd Cottages, who so lovingly cared for him.

Jeanne Watson
Jeanne Elizabeth Watson, 89, of Cambridge passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2015 surrounded by family and loved ones.
Jeanne was born on March 10, 1926 in Cambridge at her parents PH and Maggie (Hanson) Larson’s home in Cambridge. Her parents had a large livestock barn located where the city parking lot is now, by the Heartland Bus garage, and as a young girl she loved horses. She and girlfriends would travel to the twin cities every summer to ride in the Aquatennial parade.
As a high school student during the war, Jeanne worked as a Red Cross volunteer in the evening rolling bandages and other tasks for the war effort. After graduating high school in 1944, Jeanne took classes at MN School of Business and eventually took a job with Insulation Sales in the Twin Cities.
She wed James R. (Bob) Watson on June 1, 1947. They had two sons Steve and Jim. Jeanne and Bob worked together in the family business for several years. After retirement, she and Bob wintered for many years in Apache Junction, Arizona.
She loved feeding the birds year round and was always quick to report how much grape jelly she had used. Other favorite pastimes were sitting on her deck looking out over Paul’s Lake and the public access, Saturday morning breakfasts at Peoples Café and weekday coffee at Herman’s Bakery where she loved visiting with her many wonderful friends. Her grandchildren and two great grandchildren were a true blessing which she cherished in her final years.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents PH and Maggie Larson, husband Bob, sisters Beverly, Phyllis and Frances. She is survived by her sons Steve (Jane), Jim (Pam), grandchildren Katherine (Jeremy) Schmidt, Joshua, Sam, Betsy, Margaret, Amanda (Keith) Swanson, great granddaughters Nevaeh and Angela, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Francis Norberg
Francis V. Norberg, age 83, of Stanchfield, passed away on Thursday, September 9, 2015 at Cambridge Medical Center.
Frank was born on January 30, 1932 in the log cabin on the farm that his great grandparents, Peter and Anna Mattson, homesteaded in 1872. The farm was located in Springvale Township of Isanti County. His parents Alphonse and Rachel farmed until Frank and his brothers and sisters could help. Frank was an independent milk hauler for Braham Creamery. He also worked for Leaf construction. He enjoyed playing pool with his friends at the Braham Tavern and going to the casino.
Frank will be missed by his brothers Bob, Tom, Dave, and Jim as well as sisters LaVerne, Dorothy, and Laura. He will also be missed by his many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by a baby brother; his parents; brother Harry; and sister Pat.
Louise Hipp
Louise C. Hipp, 91, of Cambridge, formerly of New Brighton passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2015 at GracePointe Crossing Gables West.
She was born on July 23, 1924 in Duncan, Oklahoma to Thomas and Lona (Hickey) Chance. Louise grew up in Vernon, Texas where she attended grade school and graduated from high school.
On February 2, 1945 she was united in marriage to Edwin Hipp in Paris, Texas and soon after moved to New Brighton, MN to the Hipp family farm (Lakeside Berry Farm). They would raise their four children in New Brighton. On April 9, 1963, Louise and Edwin divorced and she moved off the farm. She worked for several years at Land-O-Lakes. She lived for a time in New Brighton, Roseville and she spent the last 13 years in Cambridge.
Louise was a member of St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in New Brighton. She was also involved with the New Brighton VFW, New Brighton Eagle Auxiliary #3718 and Eagle REAC Senior Club, St. Ann Society at St. John The Evangelist Church, New Brighton Historical Society, and the Holy Family Guild at Little Sisters of The Poor. While living in Cambridge she attended Christ The King Catholic Church.
She enjoyed cooking, sewing, rug looming, painting, cross country skiing, golfing and square dancing. Louise loved to plan parties and was always the one you could ask if you needed help with advice.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Winston and Johnny Chance, sister Madge Rich, daughter Judy Hockert and daughter-in-law Connie Hipp. She is survived by her children Jim (Merideth) Hipp of East Bethel, Tom Hipp (Colleen Javes) of Ham Lake, Patty Pavel (John Huot) of North St. Paul, son-in-law Mike Hockert (MaryAnn Cleary) of Cambridge, 11 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, sister Lucille Webb of DeBerry, TX, as well as numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Arthur Valerius
Arthur M. Valerius age 82 of Elk River, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August, 12, 2015.
He was born to John and Martha Valerius on November 27, 1932 on the Albertville family farm.
Art attended Elk River public schools, until he was needed to work on the family farm.
He married
Yvonne Albert on October 31st 1953. Together they raised six children: Robert, Daniel, Roxanne, Larry, David and Christine.
Art proudly served his country in the Army National Guard. He worked at Aluma Craft from 1959 to 1966 and took a position at Hoffman Engineering from October 24, 1966 until he retired on January 1, 1995.
After his beloved wife Yvonne died in September 1995, Art married
Jeanne in June 1996. They later would divorce.
Art loved to travel. He spent his last years at his daughter, Christine’s, farm in Nowthen, MN where he enjoyed watching nature.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Yvonne; sons Robert and Larry; brothers Alfred and Ralph.
He is survived by his children Daniel (Diane), Roxanne (Brad) Kalk, David (Wendy) and Christine (Steve) Koehler, 14 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren; 1brother Gilbert (Anna Mae), sister-in-law Ann Valerius, brother-in-law Rick Albert and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Kathy Bohman
Kathy L. Bohman of Isanti, passed away in her home after a long struggle with cancer.
She was 54 years old.
Kathy was born September 26, 1960 She and her 2 sisters were adopted to Einer and Lois Jensen on March 19, 1963. Kathy grew up on a farm near Rush Point where she helped her parents for years, baking beside her mother, and farming beside her father. She drove tractor at the age of 8 and loved bailing hay every summer.
She was a shy but very kind person that loved watching out for others who were less fortunate. Kathy enjoyed Track, Cheerleading, and Dance-line while attending Cambridge High School.
She graduated in 1979. During her 11th grade year she worked at the Cambridge Laundry and Cleaners.
Kathy worked at the Cambridge State Hospital the summer before attending Saint Cloud Beauty College for 2 years, graduating in 1981.
Kathy worked as a hairdresser for 8 years in Cambridge and Saint Cloud.
She started working for Creative Memories Corporate office and enjoyed sharing her artistic abilities. After her father passed away in January of 1999 she left Creative Memories to move home in June of 2000 to help her mother on the farm. She met and married
the love of her life, Bob Bohman on October 6, 2001 in the rose gardens along the shores of Duluth, Minnesota. They lived in Isanti for a couple years and then moved to Bigfork, MN where they lived for 10 years. Kathy enjoyed living in northern Minnesota, especially visits from their children, Campfires, wildlife, and nature at it’s best. “God’s country!” (she always said) “Isn’t it beautiful?” Kathy enjoyed working side by side with her husband Bob who managed a Polaris pro race team for 4 years. Kathy did all the travel arrangements for the racers and really enjoyed doing all the photography for the team action shots were her favorite. But her favorite thing to take pictures of was of her family.
She tried very hard to get the family together for family portraits.
Not always easy to do with 5 kids and their busy families. Kathy always liked to make people smile.
Kathy was always so happy and known for her positivity which inspired many.
She wasn’t afraid to tell people “it’s so much easier to be happy than to be sad or feel sorry for yourself.” Kathy always kept her head held high, and spirits even higher. She had many medical issues over the years and always kept her bubbly and infectious happiness for life intact. She always shared that sparkle with everyone she met. Kathy always had a hug to share with family or friends. “Love, the one thing that is free” she always said. Kathy had a strong faith in God and this reflected in her life in so many ways. She was always giving and thought of other before herself. She enjoyed attending Calvary Lutheran Church of Rush Point. She took part in WELCA, Bible Study, Bake Sales, and fellowship serving refreshments. Kathy worked as a Norwex Independent Consultant for the past two years. She enjoyed sharing her love for the products and meeting new friends. Even though Kathy had her own struggles, she could always find the time to help others by organizing benefits for friends and family.
Kathy is survived by her loving husband Bob, Daughter Aliesha (Bakken) Boettcher and Husband Danny of Stanchfield, Son Steven Bakken and wife Laura of Cambridge, Step Children Brad Bohman and girlfriend Amanda, Brandi (Bohman) Erickson and Husband Mike of Isanti, MN Brennan Bohman and partner Alex of Chicago, IL. Mother, Lois Jensen, of Cambridge, Sisters Cindy (Jensen) Savage of St Augusta, MN and Paula (Jensen) Hoffman and Husband Randy of Cedar, MN. Mother in law Patty Bohman of Milaca, MN. Brother in laws Rick Bohman, Jeff and Roxann Bohman, of Milaca, MN and Tim and Deb Bohman of Elko, MN. 11 grandchildren Ashlyn, Dakota, Conner, Bailey, Danica, Mason, Brayden, Maxton, Tucker, Elliot & Everett), many nieces, nephews, Aunts, Uncles, cousins and friends who were all loved by Kathy so very much.
Kathy was preceded in death by her Father, Einer Jensen, her Father in Law Herman Bohman, her birth parents as well as her birth aunts and uncles.
Mayme Jacobson
Mayme Alma Jacobson, 96, of Milaca, formerly of Crown passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at the Heritage House in Milaca.
She was born on March 21, 1919 in Spencer Brook Township, Minnesota to William and Emma (Ott) Hass. She grew up in the Spencer Brook area. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church of Crown and attended school at the Crown Christian Day School.
In November 1935 she was united in marriage to Levi Manford Jacobson at Zion Lutheran Church they were blessed with six wonderful children. Levi and Mayme bought the farm that Levi lived in growing up and they would farm it for many years.
Mayme was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church of Crown and enjoyed helping with the Ladies Aide and was active in the quilting group. She was a loving farm wife and mother. She enjoyed her flowers, gardening, quilting, cooking, crocheting rugs, and visiting with family and friends, and her beloved four legged companion Ruby.
She was welcomed into heaven with open arms by her parents, husband Levi, daughter Shirley, grandson Aaron Jacobson, brothers Harry, Ben, Otto, Art and Alfred Hass, sisters Ella Olson and Irma Hass.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Lyle Jacobson (Carol Barringer) of Oak Park, LeRoy (Diane) Jacobson of Oak Park, Sharon (Dan) Wilhelm of Monticello, Mary (Gary) High of Coon Rapids, Margie Flack of Long Prairie, seven grandchildren, six step grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Jonathan Lee Chambers, 55, of Cambridge passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the Aspen Adult Foster Care home in Cambridge.
