Rodney Jochim
Rodney Edward Jochim, 73, Herman, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004, at St. Cloud Hospital, St. Cloud.
He was born July 12, 1931, in Barrett to Edward and Alma (DeVries) Jochim.
He was baptized in Hoffman on Nov. 14, 1931.
He attended Grant County District 71 and was confirmed at the Zion Lutheran Church, Barrett, on Nov. 4, 1945.
On March 25, 1965, he married
Dorothy Shoen in Sisston, S.D.
The couple made their home on the family farm in Macsville Township, Grant County, where they farmed and raised their family.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, wood working, and loved attended auction sales.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy; children Craig, Karen and Deanna, all of Herman; sister, Florence Dahl of Kennedy; and best friend Charlette Cornillie, Elbow Lake.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Arvid Torgerson
Arvid W. "Torgie" Torgerson, 77, Fergus Falls, died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004, at his home.
He was born March 25, 1927, in Otter Tail County, to Webster and Alice (Dahlager) Torgerson.
He grew up in Tordenskjold Township, rural Dalton, and graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1945.
He worked for Holten Hardware and then started with Northwestern Bell Telephone Company, retiring from there in 1987, after more than 39 years of service.
On Sept. 14, 1946, he married
Audrey Anderson at First Lutheran Church of Fergus Falls.
With his career, the family moved to several communities, returning to Fergus Falls in the early 1970s.
He was a member of the First Lutheran Church, the Elks Club, Eagles, Communication Workers of America and Telcom Pioneers.
He loved to hunt, fish, play sports, golf, and enjoyed visiting with people.
He was also a greeter at Lake Region Hospital and Wal-Mart.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey; one son, Gregory (Marj) Torgerson of Elysian, Minn.; four daughters: Deborah Degner of Duluth and her husband, John Degner of Wells, Jacquelin (Ben) Nelson of Fergus Falls, Denise (Rick) Baker of Fergus Falls and Kathleen Saunders of Alexandria; six grandchildren: Tammy Jo Nelson, James Degner, Ross Baker, Stuart Saunders, Anna Saunders and her fianc/, Justin Praska, and Cole Saunders; step-grandchildren: Brandon, Justin, Gene, Ross and Adam Mitchell; two sisters, Jewel Kastelle of Fergus Falls, and Janet (Vic) Petterson of Elizabeth; and a sister-in-law, Barbara (Lloyd) Amundson of Maui.
Also surviving are nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, James Wesley, who died in 1956; sister, Janice; brother, Wesley; and his mother and father-in-law, George and Myrtle Anderson.
Visitation: Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home and at the church one hour prior to the service

Christopher Fromuth
Christopher James Fromuth, four-month-old infant, died of S.I.D.S Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004, at Lake Region Hospital of Fergus Falls.
He was born Aug. 25, 2004, in Fergus Falls, to Thomas Fromuth and Amber Korby.
He loved to be cuddled and was often smiling and laughing.
He started to enjoy toys, especially teething rings, and playing with his aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is survived by his parents, Amber Nicole Korby and Thomas Edward Fromuth, Fergus Falls; one brother, Nicholas Fromuth, Fergus Falls; grandparents: Dennis Korby of Fergus Falls, Brian (Zuleyha) Drechsel of Fergus Falls, and John Fromuth of San Antonio, Texas; great-grandparents, Frances Sauer of Fergus Falls and Duane (Marilyn Drechsel of Fergus Falls; and great-great grandmother, Mildred Kolle of Elbow Lake.
He is also survived by his aunts: Susan Fromuth, Amber Drechsel, Alyssa Drechsel, Michelle (Boyd) Tenneson, Heidi (Jason) Thornton, Melissa (Jon) Qualley, Becky Korby and Zack Stach; uncles, John Fromuth and Trever Wahl; and numerous cousins.
He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Cathleen Korby; great-grandfather, James Sauer; great-grandparents, Edna and Austin Korby; and cousin, Jordan Wahl-Childress.
Visitation: Wednesday from 3 to 5 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Charline Holtberg
Charline Holtberg, 71, Alexandria, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2004, at the Douglas County Hospital.
She was born Oct. 7, 1933, in Columbia, Ky., to Holger and Lily Christensen.
Her early childhood was spent in Columbia moving with her family to Ashby in 1949.
She graduated from the Ashby High School in 1951.
She was employed at the First State Bank of Ashby.
On Oct. 1, 1955, she married
Robert Holtberg.
She was active in the community and her church.
Her hobbies included gardening, reading, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Holger and Lily Christensen and one brother-in-law, Stan Boe.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; three children: Toni (Rick) Tvrdik and Bryan (Lynette) Holtberg both of Glenwood and Alison Olson of Alexandria; eight grandchildren: Jessica, Cole, Shea and Kendal Tvrdik, Zander Holtberg, Jalen, Kelby and Torrey Olson; a sister, Carolyn Boe of Phoenix, Ariz.; niece, Tammie Hintz of Arizona; and nephew Todd Boe of Rochester, N.Y.

Richard Ness
Dr. Richard Alton Ness, 77, Goodyear, Ariz., and Battle Lake, died Goodyear, Ariz.
He was born April 10, 1927, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Clara and Arol Linscott.
He was adopted by Clarence and Bernice Ness.
He was married
to Dorothy Ness.
He was a resident of Arizona for the last 10 years and returned in the summer to his beloved Ottertail Lake.
He was a retired ophthalmologist and founder of the Fergus Falls Eye Clinic and later joined the Fergus Falls Medical Group.
He was active in The Estrella Rotary Club in Arizona, The Sunrise Rotary Club in Fergus Falls, The Church at Litchfield Park, The Circumnavigators Club, and Zion Lutheran Church in Battle Lake.
He enjoyed many hobbies and interests.
He was a world traveler and bluewater sailer, an acrobatic airplane pilot, a scuba diver, a horseback rider, a creative cook and an inventor.
He avidly studied Spanish.
A veteran of the Navy, he will be missed by all his family and friends.
He is survived by his daughters, Nancy (Dr. Harvey ) Casebeer of Butte, Mont., Susan (Dr. Hector) Gonzalez of Chelsea, Mich., and Dr. Carol Ness of Fargo; sons, Richard (Celia) Ness II of Lakewood, Wash., and Jonathan Ness of Grand Forks; nine grandchildren: Richard Alton Ness III, Sean Ness, Tia Pedersen, Nichole and Christopher Casebeer, David, Sofia and Maya Gonzalez and Luke Hegerle.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Glenn and Gene Linscott.
Memorial Contributions may be made in his name to Zion Lutheran Church of Amor, The Rotary Foundation, Lake Region Hospital Scholarship Fund, or the Minnesota State Community and Technical College Foundation of Fergus Falls.
