IRENE E.L. ANDERSON
Irene E.L. Anderson, 87, of Two Harbors died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2001, in the Sunrise Home.
She was born Oct. 20, 1913, to Erik Wiktor and Beda (Hybbinette) Anderson in Two Harbors, where she was a lifelong resident. She worked at the former Engstrom Store and later in food service for Lake Superior School District. She was a member of the Women of the Moose.

Irene is survived by a sister, Lila Joki of Two Harbors; nieces Loris Akervik of Eau Claire, Wis., Ardelle Worley of Lakeland, Minn., and Marlys Lundell of Newport, Minn.; and a nephew, Spencer Joki of Hayward.
Visitation: 11 a.m. until the noon service Saturday in Cavallin Funeral Home, Two Harbors. Burial in Lakeview cemetery, Two Harbors.

JOHN E. ZUPANCIC
John E. Zupancic, 79, of Gilbert died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2001, in his residence.
He was born July 23, 1922, in Gilbert to John and Mary (Skoff) Zupancic. He was a graduate of Gilbert High School and later worked in Cleveland for a short time. He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in the European Theatre. He was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge and earned the Purple Heart. Following the military, he returned to Gilbert where he married Avis Veralrud on June 12, 1948. That same year, he also began working for Erie Mining Co., and he retired from there in 1978 as a foreman.

John worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps camps and was an avid fisherman and enjoyed woodworking. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Gilbert American Legion Post, Gilbert Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a Disabled American Veteran.

John was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Avis; and a brother in infancy.

He is survived by his daughters, Ramona (Gene) Knutson of Fayal and Debbie (Ron) Carpenter of Sparta, Minn.; a son, Dr. John (Claudia) Zupancic of Gilbert; grandchildren Erik and Kyle Knutson, Ronda Carpenter, and Catherine, John and Carl Zupancic; a sister, Alice (Carl) Schweiger of Gilbert; and a sister-in-law, Donna (William) Frantar of Eveleth.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m. today in Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home, Gilbert. Funeral Mass at 1 p.m. Saturday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Gilbert, Father Frank Perkovich as celebrant. Burial with military honors in Gilbert cemetery.

ALBERT E. "ANDY" ANDERSON
Albert E. "Andy" Anderson, 70, of Bigfork died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2001, in Bigfork.
Visitation: 5-8 p.m. today in Carroll Funeral Home, Bigfork. Service at 1 p.m. Saturday in Our Lady of Snows Catholic Church, Bigfork. Burial in Bigfork cemetery.
MARGARET E.
ROSSI
Margaret E. Rossi, 98, of Cloquet, formerly of Eveleth, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2001, in Cloquet Hospital.
She was born May 17, 1903, to Peter and Suzanne (Stonelake) Trask in Michigan. Margaret was a lifetime member of KOPS, and also a member of the Eveleth Degree of Honor, Evelyn Women of the Moose, Cloquet Garden Club and Cloquet Senior Citizens Club. She enjoyed playing cards with friends on the second floor in Aspen Arms, as well as knitting, crocheting and reading.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husbands, Matthew Ritacco and Amidi Rossi; an infant daughter, Juanita; an infant son, Joey; a son, Alan, in June 2001; a great-granddaughter, Andrea Ritacco; her parents; and four sisters.

She is survived by her loving children, Robert (Ellen) Ritacco of Leadville, Colo., June Limmer of Cloquet and Gloria (Ken) Blake of Eden Prairie, Minn.; a daughter-in-law, Joan Ritacco of Eagan, Minn.; a stepson, Richard (Bev) Rossi of Gilbert; 18 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, step grandchildren and friends.
A GATHERING OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS: 9 until the 10 a.m. memorial Mass of Christian burial Monday in Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 102 Fourth St., Cloquet, Father David Forsman presiding. SCOTT ALAN OJAY
Scott Alan Ojay, 32, formerly of Aurora, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2001.
He is survived by his children, Kyle and Amanda Ojay; and numerous other relatives.
A GATHERING IN REMEMBRANCE of Scott will be held 1-3 p.m. Saturday at Lake Mine, Biwabik. Graveside services at 1 p.m. Oct. 19, Pastor Cindy Gray officiating.

JOHN W. OSBORNE
John W. Osborne, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2001, in his home on Big Pine Lake in Finlayson.
He was born Sept. 14, 1930, in Mahtowa to Edward A. and Hilma M. (Ronkainen) Osborne. John graduated from Barnum High School and went on to earn his masters in education from the University of Minnesota Duluth. He served two years in the Army Transportation Corps in Fort Eustis, Va., during which he was honored as Soldier of the Week and served as aide to Post Cmdr. Brig. Gen. Harold R. Duffie. John married Myrno Perlberg on Oct. 29, 1955, in Hurley. In 1958, they moved to the Finlayson area, where John began his career in education as teaching principal in the Finlayson schools. In 1968, John was chosen as superintendent of schools, a position he held until his retirement in 1987. During those years, John provided leadership in the development of plans for and the funding, construction and furnishing of the Finlayson Elementary School. He worked to share his belief in the value of education with all of whom he came in touch.

John served on several boards, including the Pine Lake Township Board, Pine Lake Zoning Commission and Development Achievement Center Board of Directors. John was a member of Finlayson United Methodist Church, where he was co-chairperson of the Administrative Counsel and a trustee. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed sharing his 39 years of residence on the shores of Big Pine Lake with his extended family and friends. He enjoyed collecting and restoring vintage cars and tractors with his sons. John will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Betty Hoffman; and a brother, Robert Osborne.

John is survived by his wife, Myrno of Finlayson; sons John A. "Jack" Osborne of Minneapolis, and James E. "Jamie" Osborne and wife, Kristine, of Mendota Heights, Minn.; a daughter, LaRaye M. Osborne and husband, Mark F. Ten Eyck, of Minnetrista, Minn.; grandchildren Tyler, Kara and Jenna Osborne, and Emily, Andrew and Lucille Ten Eyck; a sister, Eunice Olson; brothers Edward Russell Osborne and Ronald J. Osborne; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Sunday and continues from 9:30 until the 10:30 a.m. service Monday in Finlayson United Methodist Church, the Rev. Erik Nordgren officiating. Burial at 3:30 p.m. in Riverside cemetery, Barnum. Memorials preferred to the Hinckley-Finlayson Schools, John W. Osborne Education Fund. Arrangements by Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake.

CHARLES G. KENNEDY
Charles G. Kennedy, 84, of Grand Rapids, formerly Minneapolis, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2001, in Itasca Medical Center, CNC Unit.
Survivors include by his wife, Lois; a daughter, Catherine Kennedy-Paine; grandchildren Patrick and Jennifer, all of Eugene, Ore.; and a cousin, Kathleen Archer of Minneapolis.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m. today in Libbey Funeral Home, Grand Rapids, and 5-7 p.m. Saturday in Washburn McReavy Southeast Chapel, Minneapolis. Burial in St. Anthony's cemetery, Minneapolis. LYDIA WILHELMINA ELDIEN
Lydia Wilhelmina Eldien, 98, of Cloquet died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, in Community Memorial Nursing Home.
She was born Jan. 22, 1903, in Cloquet to Frank and Wilhelmina (Klemola) Dahlquist. On June 30, 1925, she married Carl Ragnar Eldien. Lydia was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the KloKay BoKay Garden Club, and had received a life membership in the Federated Garden Clubs of Minnesota. She and her husband, Ragnar, planted and maintained the plants at the entrance to the Cloquet Community Memorial Hospital for many years.

Lydia was preceded in death by her husband, Ragnar; and brothers Frank, Leo and Iver Dahlquist.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Skip) Gustafson of Cloquet; sons Donald (Helen) of Minneapolis and Duane (Luella) of Esko; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 1 until the 2 p.m. service Saturday in Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St., Cloquet. Burial in Hillcrest cemetery, Cloquet. Luncheon will follow in the funeral home reception area. TECKLA S. KOSKI
Teckla S. Koski, 87, a longtime resident of Hibbing, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, in Golden Crest Nursing Home.
She was born Oct. 14, 1914, in Trout Lake Township, Minn., the daughter of Edward and Emma Johnson. She married Laurie A. Koski and was a homemaker. Teckla was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Hibbing, where she made pasties and served on the Altar Guild.

Teckla was preceded in death by her husband, Laurie, in 1981; a sister, Aili Kangas; and brothers Albert, Franz and Wilho Johnson.

She is survived by a daughter, Lorraine (Harry) Maki of Richfield, Minn.; a son, Raymond (Linda) Koski of Hibbing; sisters Alice (William) Niemi of Aurora, Margaret (Howard) Johnson of Grand Rapids, Lila Ahlgren of Walnut Creek, Calif., and Viola (Jon) Nylund of Marcell; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. today in Anderson-Daniels Funeral Home and continues from 12:30 until the 1:30 p.m. service Tuesday in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, the Rev. Bruce Dissell officiating. EDWARD DELACK
Edward Delack, 86, formerly of Biwabik, died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001, in White Community Hospital Nursing Home, Aurora.
Visitation: 10 until the 11 a.m. service Wednesday in Range Funeral Home, Virginia. Burial in Lakeside cemetery, Biwabik.

THOMAS A. TOWNER
Thomas A. Towner, 40, of Esko, formerly of Proctor, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, after a brief illness.
Tom was born Oct. 11, 1961. He owned and operated Southgate Family Pizzeria in Cloquet for 18 years. Tom was a sports enthusiast, who enjoyed golfing and football.

He is survived by his wife, Jody; a son, Thomas; his mother, Delores Towner of Duluth; a brother, Bill of Indiana; sisters Shirley (Dean) Thompson of Esko and Debbie (Dan) Hill of Proctor; and nieces and nephews.

STANFORD L. BUMGARNER
Stanford L. Bumgarner Sr., 74, of Grand Rapids died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, in his home.
He is survived by a daughter, Susan Bumgarner; sons Stanford Jr., Roger, Vernon and Dale Bumgarner; his mother, Evangeline Baumgarner of Deer River; seven sisters; two brothers; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: 2 p.m. Tuesday in Rowe Funeral Home, Grand Rapids.
