Eino W. Lappala, 82, of Iron died Sunday, May 20, 2001, in the Fairview University Medical Center-Mesabi in Hibbing.
Visitation: noon until the 1 p.m. service Wednesday in Faith United Lutheran Church in Iron. Burial in Forbes cemetery. The Hibbing Color Guard will accord a flag presentation. Arrangements by Range Funeral Home, Hibbing.
Jeanette I. Baldwin
Jeanette I. Baldwin, 68, of Hibbing died Sunday, May 20, 2001, in the University Medical Center-Mesabi.
She was born to Raymond and Otilia (Johnson) Tawyea in Hibbing on Oct. 23, 1932, and lived north of Nashwauk for 41 years before returning to Hibbing six years ago.
Jeanette was a homemaker and a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Baldwin in 1986.
She is survived by her sons, Thomas (Evelyn) Baldwin of Eveleth, Stephen (Mary) Baldwin of Nashwauk and Gary (Kim) Baldwin of Franklin, Maine; a daughter, Karen (Gregory) Johnson of Hibbing; a stepdaughter, Sharon (Ralph) Colson of Town Hill, Maine; a brother, James Tawyea of Hibbing; sisters Geraldine (Bernard) Pierce of Hibbing, Myrna (Mervin) Rice of Hibbing, Judy (Charles) Webb of Hibbing and Jane Turner of Eveleth; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in Dougherty Funeral Home in Hibbing. Memorial service at 11 a.m. Thursday in Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Hibbing.
Wendell Lee "Winky"
Tellinghuisen
Wendell Lee "Winky" Tellinghuisen, 62, of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., and Wrenshall passed away Sunday, May 13, 2001, in Florida.
He attended school in Borup and Wrenshall and was a Navy veteran. He had worked at Midwest Patrol and Murphy Oil Co.
Wendell was preceded in death by his parents, Bertha and Leonard, and a brother, Steven.
He is survived by his wife, Eva; sons Charles, Gordon (Sue), Jerry and Joseph; stepchildren Robert (Julie), Daniel (Caramel), Beverly (Scott) and Louise; 25 grandchildren; brothers Leon and David (Kay); a sister, Beverly (Richard); and many nieces and nephews
Memorial services: 1 p.m. July 6 in St. John's Lutheran Church, Wrenshall.
Walter Caribou
Walter Caribou, 86, of Grand Portage died Sunday, May 20, 2001, in the North Shore Hospital in Grand Marais.
He was born Dec. 25, 1914, at Jackfish Bay on Basswood Lake in Lake County, Minn. He grew up in Grand Portage and Nett Lake, and was a self-employed carpenter for many years, returning to Grand Portage in 1979. He was a member of the Grand Portage Band of Chippewa.
Walt is survived by his wife, Alma; sons Walter Jr. and Gilbert; a daughter, Judith Hervig; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A wake begins at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Grand Portage Community Center, where a traditional Native American service is at 10 a.m. Thursday. Burial in the Traditional cemetery in Grand Portage. Arrangements by Cavallin Funeral Home.
William G. Perrett
William G. Perrett, 72, of Taconite, formerly of Grand Rapids and Sun City, Ariz., died Sunday, May 20, 2001, in his home.
Born July 31, 1928, in Duluth, he was the son of George A. and Alice (Mann) Perrett. He grew up in Duluth, was a 1946 graduate of Denfeld High School and attended UMD. Bill and Betty Stafne were married
March 24, 1951, in Winona, Minn. A Grand Rapids resident from 1958 to 1989, he lived summers in Taconite and winters in Sun City. He had been operations superintendent for Minnesota Power's Clay Boswell Station, retiring in 1985 after 35 years of service.
He was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Sun City, a former member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids, had been a volunteer driver taking cancer patients to Duluth for treatment, a former member of Itasca Lodge 208 AF&AM; in Grand Rapids, and had served several years in the Minnesota National Guard.
His parents preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; his children, Gary (Roberta) Perrett of Cohasset, Debra (Michael) Troumbly of Taconite, Julie (Brad) Hafar of Missoula, Mont., Brad (Leslie) Perrett of Duluth and Jill (Chris) Bailey of Bellingham, Wash; 20 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty (Erland) Bjork of Duluth; and a former daughter-in-law, Melodee.
Memorial services: 11:30 a.m. Thursday in Zion Lutheran Church, Grand Rapids, the Rev. Keith Palmquist officiating. Arrangements by Peterson Funeral Chapel, Coleraine.
Beverly Fugate
Beverly Fugate, passed away Monday, May 21, 2001, as a result of the complications of cancer.
Born Beverly Gay Baker, Oct. 22, 1930, in Davenport, Iowa, she married
Lewis Fugate on Oct. 25, 1947, in Orion, Ill.
Beverly was an incredible woman, wife, mother and friend.
She is survived by her husband, Lewis; a brother, Allen Baker; her children, Steve Fugate of Currie, Minn., Debra Fugate of St. Michael, Minn., Douglas Fugate of Hibbing, Inga Fugate (Robert Hecimovich) of Hibbing and Heather (Jim) Tardy of Marble; grandchildren Serenity, Nick, Ski, Luke and Tony; and great-grandchildren Sebastian and Tina.
Memorial service: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in First Presbyterian Church, Hibbing, Interim Pastor Margaret Z. Morris officiating. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society or to Northstar Hospice.

Leon N. Turnham
Leon N. Turnham, 66, of Eveleth died Friday, June 8, 2001, in Virginia Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife, Lorraine; children Maria (Doug) Demski, James Turnham, Marcia (Steve) Bartolus and Leslie (Jason) Davis; five stepchildren; five brothers and a sister; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 5-9 p.m. today in Cron-Sheehy Funeral Home, Eveleth, and from 12:30 until the 1:30 p.m. service Monday in Virginia Assembly of God Church. Burial in Eveleth cemetery.
Keith E. Parsons
Keith E. Parsons, 71, of Virginia died Friday, June 8, 2001, in his home.
He was born April 21, 1930, in Evansville, Wis., the son of Earl and Nelda (Hoehne) Parsons. He married
Roselle Mattila June 2, 1956, in Mountain Iron Presbyterian Church. He served as a Sea-bee in the U.S. Navy and was a longtime resident of the Virginia area. Keith was employed as a heavy equipment operator for Erie Mining Co. and LTV Mining for 33 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of Hope Community Presbyterian Church and was a member and past president of the Virginia Men's Bowling Association. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a nephew, Scott Dumond.
Keith is survived by his wife of 45 years, Roselle; a daughter, Karen (Rick) Poupard of Virginia; grandchildren Katie Marie and Ryan Allen Poupard; sisters Joyce (Norval) Dumond of Kelly Lake and Virginia (Roger) Cernohous of Chetek, Wis.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation: Noon until the 1 p.m. service Tuesday in Hope Community Presbyterian Church, Virginia, the Rev. Dr. Frank Davis, Ph.D., officiating. Interment follows in Greenwood cemetery.
