Nile C. Lien
Nile C. Lien, 84, of Hoyt Lakes died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, in Skilled Nursing Facility of the White Community Hospital, Aurora.
He was born Aug. 1, 1916, in Ulen, Minn., to Sebert and Ella (Rikhus) Lien. He was raised in Ulen, where he worked on the farm. He married Virgie Bickel on Aug. 5, 1936, in Ulen. He continued working as a farmer until moving to Babbitt in 1957, where he worked a short time for Reserve Mining Co. Later in 1957, they moved to Hoyt Lakes and worked in Erie Mining Co., until his retirement as a service truck driver in 1978.

Nile enjoyed sports and camping and was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Hoyt Lakes. He was a golfer and a member of the Seniors Bowling League in Hoyt Lakes.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Robert; a grandson, Dean Lundberg; and brothers Harold, Earl and Ernest.

Nile is survived by his wife of 64 years, Virgie; daughters Janice (Lance) Schultz of Hitterdal, Minn., Donna (Bruce) White of Hoyt Lakes and Ramona Fink (Vern Olson) of Gilbert; a son, Donald (Donna Draze) Lien of Hoyt Lakes; a sister, Macel (Clinton) Klemetson of Ulen; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Sunday in Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home, Aurora and noon until the 1 p.m. service Monday in Faith Lutheran Church, Hoyt Lakes. The Rev. Kermit Solem officiating. Burial in Hoyt Lakes Memorial cemetery.

Wallace "Wally" Strom
Wallace "Wally" Strom of Lufkin, Texas died Wednesday, March 21, 2001, in Lufkin.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; sons Lee of Hawaii and Kenneth of Lufkin; daughters Tama of Gladewater, Texas, Carrie of Crosby, Michelle of Las Vegas and Kellie of Jacobson, Minn.; brother Dale and Roger, both of Goodland, Minn., and Jerry of Old Town, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be Friday in Lufkin. Arrangements by Carroway Funeral Home, Lufkin.

Dwaine "Dewey" Ellefson
Dwaine "Dewey" Ellefson, 64, of Hibbing died Saturday, March 17, 2001.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; sons David (Lynn), Daniel (Margery) and Dana (Carol); daughters Holly (Philip) Nelson and Kerri (Mark) Narveson; 11 grandchildren; a great-grandson; a brother; and other relatives.
Visitation: 5-8 p.m. Sunday in Anderson-Daniels Funeral Home, Hibbing and 10 until the 11 a.m. service Monday in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Hibbing. Interment in Hibbing Park (Maple Hill) cemetery.

Jeanette L. "Jan"
(Thielen) Ellis
Jeanette L. "Jan" (Thielen) Ellis, 62, of Kinney died Tuesday, March 20, 2001.
She is survived by sons Scott (Sandy) Ellis, and Bob (Val), Mike (Debbie) and John (Jan) Thielen; daughters Donna (Ken) Maki, Vicky (Michael) Lopac, Sherri (Barry) Schaffer, Robin (Scott) Miller, Monica (Jim) Bjerga, Bonnie Mattila, DeAnn (Tommy) Tario and Tammy Thielen; two siblings; 26 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Friday with 7 p.m. prayer service in Rupp Funeral Home Chapel, Chisholm and noon until the 1 p.m. Mass of Christian burial Saturday in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Buhl. Interment in Lakeview cemetery, Buhl.

Gordon M. Swanson
Gordon M. Swanson, 82, of Silver Bay died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, in the Minnesota Veteran's Home, Silver Bay.
He was born June 26, 1918, to Mr. and Mrs. John Swanson in Carlton. He attended schools in Carlton and graduated from high school there.

He married Bernyce Oist Oct. 3, 1936, in Carlton and lived in Cloquet and Duluth before moving to Silver Bay. Gordon served in the Navy during World War II and was employed as a clerk for the Duluth Missabe and Iron Range Railway. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Bernyce in 2000.

He is survived by a son, Jac of Silver Bay; grandchildren Kevin of Minneapolis and Keith of Duluth; great-grandchildren Brian and Michael, both of Duluth; and a brother-in-law, John (Patty) Oist of Cloquet.
No services will be held. Arrangements by Cavallin Funeral Home.

Leonard W. Inglebret
Leonard W. Inglebret, 75, of Grand Rapids died Wednesday, March 21, 2001, in Leisure Hills Care Center, Grand Rapids.
One of Jehovah's Witnesses, he owned and operated the Viking Sewing Center in Grand Rapids for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughters Connie Olson, Lorri Roldan and Paula Golemgeske; a son, Shawn; four sisters; two brothers; and six grandchildren.
No services are scheduled at this time. Arrangements by Rowe Funeral Home, Grand Rapids.

Robert L. Sokoloski
Robert L. Sokoloski, 62, of Omaha, Neb., died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001.
He is survived by sons Tim, Tom (Sandy) and Robbie; daughters Theresa (Jim) Bradbury and Tina Russell; sisters Marie (John) Lund and Dorothy Smith; a brother, Mike Oklak; six grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
Services were Feb. 24 in Westlawn Hillcrest Funeral Home, Omaha. Burial in Westlawn Hillcrest Memorial Park with military honors by VFW Post 2503.

Leonard Ralph "Papa T."
Tellinghuisen
Leonard Ralph "Papa T." Tellinghuisen, 92, of Wrenshall passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2001, in Cloquet Community Memorial Convalescent Nursing Care Section.
He was born Sept. 30, 1908, in Sioux Falls, S.D., to Ike and Angeline (Trettin) Tellinghuisen. He attended Johnson School in DeSmet, S.D. On Feb. 15, 1934, Leonard married Bertha Alvina Wellberg in Hayti, S.D. He farmed up until 1951, when he went to work in Conwed Corp. until his retirement in 1973.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha on Dec. 11, 1975; a son, Steven; his parents; nine brothers; and three sisters.

Leonard is survived by sons Leon L. and Wendell (Eva), both of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., and David (Kay) of Richfield, Minn.; a daughter, Beverly (Richard) Godbout of Cromwell; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 10 until the 11 a.m. service Saturday in Wefelmeyer Funeral Home, 1506 Washington Ave., Cloquet, (218) 879-6741. The Rev. Dennis Morreim officiating. Interment in Silverbrook cemetery, Wrenshall.

David E. Nelson
David E. Nelson, 66, of Cloquet passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2001, in his home.
He was born Dec. 3, 1934, in Cloquet to Emil and Lempi (Johnson) Nelson. He graduated from Cloquet High School in 1952. David worked for Northwest Paper before farming for most of his life.

David enjoyed the outdoors, including cutting wood and being a collector.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Janet Forse; a brother, Jerry; and a brother-in-law, Louis Pellerin.

David is survived by sisters Marian Pellerin of Esko and Ethel (Ted) Holm of Randolph, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 1 until the 2 p.m. service Friday in Barr Brothers Funeral Home, 900 Washington Ave., Cloquet, (218) 879-4636. The Rev. Dennis Morreim officiating. Interment in Hillcrest cemetery, Cloquet.

Naomi Sturdy Forsell
Naomi Sturdy Forsell, 83, of Virginia died Monday, March 19, 2001, in Virginia Regional Medical Center.
Visitation and viewing: 6-8 p.m. Friday in Range Funeral Home, Virginia, and noon until the 1 p.m. service Saturday in First Covenant Church, Virginia, with no viewing. Burial in Lakeside cemetery, Biwabik.

Edwin Frank Korcha
Edwin Frank Korcha, 67, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001.
Mr. Korcha was a graduate of the University of Minnesota Duluth, class of 1960, and a former surveyor for the department of engineering for the city of Duluth.

A longtime resident of California and educator for 39 years, Edwin was born in Eveleth and stayed close to his Minnesota roots by spending many summers in Duluth and the Iron Range.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Korcha; and his brother, Robert.

Mr. Korcha is survived by his sister, Rose Krall, of Eveleth; his wife, Gail Poppenberg Korcha, of Yucca Valley, Calif.; children Rebecca Witt of San Diego, Rhonda (Kenneth) Fort of Palm Desert, Calif., Kimberley (John) Huebner of Los Gatos, Calif., Kevin (Karen) Korcha of Joshua Tree, Calif., Captain Kyle Korcha of Fort Polk, La., and Rachael (John Brogan) Korcha of Berkeley, Calif.; and 10 grandchildren to whom he was a proud grandfather.
Service was Feb. 8 in St. Mary's of the Valley Catholic Church, Yucca Valley. Having served his country in the Korean War, he was laid to rest at Riverside National cemetery, Riverside, Calif.
