Deloris I. Koskie
Deloris I. Koskie, 74, of Hammond Avenue died Thursday, July 26, 2001, in her residence.
She is survived by her longtime friend and companion, Lyle Laurvick; daughters Sharon (Charles) Missler and Sandra Koskie (George Baker); grandchildren Dynell Marta, Dena Snydle and David Snydle (Erin Maude); and great-grandchildren Ayla and Cole Snydle, and David, Anthony and Elias Mendez.
Visitation: 2 until the 3 p.m. memorial service Tuesday in Downs Funeral Home, Superior.
Wilson John Williams
Wilson John Williams, 90, of Alamo, Texas, and formerly of Superior, died Saturday, June 30, 2001, in Edinburg, Texas.
He was born Dec. 12, 1910, in Superior. He married
Marcella Smrekar in 1934. He worked for the Duluth Missabe and Iron Range Railway as a trainmaster, retiring in 1973 after more than 30 years of service. He and his first wife wintered in Alamo for 10 years following retirement and he and his second wife moved there permanently in the mid-80s.
He was an avid golfer, bowler and played banjo in numerous bands over the years.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marcella, and sons Douglas and Richard, "Dick."
Survivors include his second wife, Eleanor of Alamo; a son, Gerald "Jerry" (Linda) Williams of Superior; five grandsons, four granddaughters; 11 great-grandchildren; three stepchildren, nine step grandchildren; 11 step great-grandchildren; an aunt, Harriet Foerst of Luck, Wis.; and nieces and nephews.
Memorial service: 11 a.m. Friday in Zion Lutheran Church, Superior. Inurnment in St. Francis cemetery, Superior.
William J. "Bill" Smith
William J. "Bill" Smith, 78, former Superior resident, died Tuesday, May 8, 2001.
Bill is survived by sons Gregory (Martha Markusen) Smith and Kevin (Rebecca Allen) Smith; two brothers; two sisters; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation begins at 5:00 p.m. today with 6 p.m. scripture service and continues 10:30 until the 11:30 a.m. service Saturday in Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, the Rev. Father Dean Buttrick officiating. Interment in St. Francis cemetery.

Frayden V. "Bill" Amundson, 83, of East Ninth Street, died Thursday, July 19, 2001, in Villa-Marina Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Survivors include his wife, Astrid; sons Niles (Patty) and Jonathan (Ruth); daughter, Jane Amundson; stepdaughters Kathleen (John) Berchild and Susan (Alan) Horvath; stepsons James (Joyce) Darst and Thomas Darst; two granddaughters; seven step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law; two nephews; and a niece.
Visitation: 5 p.m. Sunday in Downs Funeral Home and continues from 10 until the 11 a.m. service Monday in United Presbyterian Church in Superior. Interment in Lake Nebagamon Cemetary.
Walfred Lynn
Walfred Lynn, 90, longtime Superior resident, formerly of Lake Nebagamon, died Friday, July 20, 2001.
Survivors include sons Roger (Cynthia) and Gary (Linda Burich) Lynn; grandchildren Noah, Dane, Melissa and Brian; and a niece, Donna Shaver.
Visitation: 5 p.m. Sunday in Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, and from 9:30 until the 10:30 a.m. service Monday in Trinity Lutheran Church, Lake Nebagamon. Interment in Lake Nebagamon cemetery.
Josephine G. Bernacki
Josephine G. Bernacki, 85, of Clough Avenue died Monday, July 9, 2001.
Surviving are daughters Joan (Loren) Michaels and Mary Jo Bernacki Amery; a son, James (Kris) Bernacki; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a niece.
Visitation: 6 until the 7 p.m. Mass of Christian burial Saturday in Cathedral of Christ the King with a Catholic Daughters' rosary at 6:30 p.m. Private family interment to be held at a later date in Calvary cemetery. Arrangements by Downs Funeral Home.
Philip H. Larson
Philip H. Larson, 84, of U.S. Highway 2 in Maple, died Sunday, July 15, 2001, in St. Mary's Hospital of Superior.
He was born Dec. 5, 1916, in Washburn and had been an area resident most of his life.
Mr. Larson was a Army veteran of World War II and received a Purple Heart medal.
He was a member of the American Legion in Poplar and a life member and past commander of the former Henry S. Blomberg VFW Post 847 in Superior. He was a member of the Military Order of the Cootie and the Lions Club of Brule.
Mr. Larson was former owner of the Kro Bar in Superior and Little Kro Bar in Brule. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and bowling.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Ann Larson, in 1991; a brother, LeRoy Larson; his father, Carl Larson; his mother, Lisa Zant; a daughter, Carol Baker; and a grandson, Brian Russell.
Surviving are four sons Gregory (Judy) Larson and Ronald (Kathy) Larson, all of Milwaukee, Terry (Annette) Larson of Maple and Dennis (Shelly) Stein of Altoona, Wis.; a daughter, Nancee (Dale) Smith of Chippewa Falls; sister, Lucille "Sis" Rudeck of Duluth; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Visitation: after 5 p.m. today in Downs Funeral Home where the service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Father Dan Dahlberg officiating.
Conrad "Connie" Stralka
Conrad "Connie" Stralka, 84, of Superior died Tuesday, May 22, 2001.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; sisters Ange Collins, Ann Sitek and Clara Magneson; and several nieces and nephews.

Noel Charles Klein
Noel Charles Klein, 85, of East Sixth Street, died Tuesday, July 3, 2001.
He is survived by his wife, Doris; daughter Betty Ann (Albert) Kunselman of Shell Lake, Wis.; sons Charles and Don, both of Superior; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lorena T. VanBuskirk
Lorena T. VanBuskirk, 92, longtime Rockmount Road resident died Friday, July 13, 2001, in the Middle River Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Lorena was born Jan. 6, 1909, to Amanda (Brask) and Theodore Gustafson. She was a lifelong area resident, having volunteered at Middle River Health Facility for many years. She was also a member of the South Range Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Stanley, in 1967; a sister, Lenore Wold; and brothers Morris and Crawford Gustafson.
Lorena is survived by a daughter, Sydney (Ted) Minor of Boisser, La.; sons Ted (Marsha) VanBuskirk of Trego and Clyde (Barbara) VanBuskirk of South Range; grandchildren Melanie (Gordon) Adams, Rena Minor, Bruce (Jennifer) Minor, Karl (Carla) Minor, Todd VanBuskirk, Ann Martineau, Maureen (Russ) Wester, Babette Specht, Craig (Pauline) VanBuskirk; and 14 great-grandchildren; many friends.
Visitation: begins 5 p.m. Tuesday in Downs Funeral Home. Memorial service 11 a.m. Wednesday in South Range Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Cheri Danielson officiating. Inurnment in Greenwood cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lorena's nine grandchildren.
Should friends desire, memorials are preferred to the Activities Department of the Middle River Health and Rehabilitation Center.
James R. Lindberg
James R. Lindberg, 48, of Elm Avenue, died Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at his residence.
He was born March 10, 1953, in Superior and was a lifelong city resident.
Mr. Lindberg had been employed as a chemist and lab supervisor by the city of Superior's Wastewater Treatment Facility.
He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, the Nemadji Men's Club, Wednesday Golf League at Nemadji, the Tuesday Tavern Bowling League at Landmark Lanes and was a kind and gentle man.
An avid golfer, he enjoyed bowling, watching the Green Bay Packers play and traveling.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Lindberg; and his grandparents.
Surviving are his wife, Carol A. (Church); his mother, Doris Lindberg, Superior; sisters Jolayne Lindberg, Oconomowoc, Wis., and Barbara (Dan) Little, Goleta, Calif.; his godparents/uncle and aunt, Roland and Theresa Stordahl, Superior; a brother-in-law, Marvin Church, Clear Lake, Wis.; one nephew; two nieces; and cousins.
Visitation: 5-8 p.m. today in Downs Funeral Home and continues from noon until the 1 p.m. service Monday in Bethel Lutheran Church, the Rev. Gary Garnatz officiating. Interment in Greenwood cemetery.
