DANIEL "DEWEY" COLICH
Daniel "Dewey" Colich, 68, of Las Vegas died Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, in Summerlin Hospital Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 10, 1933, in Duluth.
He is survived by his wife, Adele of Las Vegas; sons Mark Alan of Sacramento, Calif., Daniel Joseph of Chanhassen, Minn., and Christopher John of Las Vegas; a sister, Dorothy Kovich of Duluth; a brother, Steve Colich of St. Paul; and four grandchildren.

MARY E. (HUGHES) PEARSON
Mary E. (Hughes) Pearson, 93, of Pitt Street died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2001, in her home.
Mary was born April 11, 1908, in Duluth to James J. and Margaret V. (Lynch) Hughes. She attended Duluth Girls Cathedral school and married
Mathew Pearson Feb. 6, 1929. Mary had been an active member of St. Michael's Church and was one of its original parishioners. She will be greatly missed by her children and grandchildren, whom she loved so much.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mathew, in 1975; a son, James, in 1999; brothers Gerald "Bud," John, Patrick, Ray and Richard Hughes, and sisters Nora (Ed) Curry and Beverly Roberts.
Mary is survived by a son, Thomas, of Cotton; a daughter, Ann (Michael) LaPanta of Charlottesville, N.C.; sister, Margaret Berg of Duluth; daughter-in-law, Erica Pearson of Burnsville, Minn.; grandchildren Chris, Michelle, Melissa, Jonathon, Jason, Mathew, Joe, John, Mark, Scott and Barbara; 15 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: begins 4 p.m. with wake prayers at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Dougherty Funeral Home. Service 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Michael's Church. Burial in Calvary cemetery. Memorials to St. Michael's Lakeside School.

AGNES E. JUGASEK
Agnes E. Jugasek, 86, of South Ugstad Road, Proctor died Friday, Sept. 21, 2001, in Lake Haven Manor.
She was born March 7, 1915, in Cloquet to Ernest and Hulda Carlson. A lifetime resident of Proctor, she graduated from Proctor High School. She was married
to William Jugasek in Proctor July 7, 1937. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and worked as a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; son, Ronald; and brothers Willis and Robert Carlson.
She is survived by a son, William R. (Diane) Jugasek of The Villages, Fla.; a daughter, Bonnie (Mike) Maeckelbergh of Proctor; daughter-in-law, Peggy Jugasek of Proctor; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; a sister, Elsie (Earl) Anderson of Mineral, Va.; many nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: 5-7 p.m. Monday in Bell Brothers Chapel and continuing from 10 until the 11 a.m. service Tuesday in Immanuel Lutheran Church, 614 Second St., Proctor, the Rev. Mark A. Osthus officiating. Burial in Sunrise Memorial Park. Memorials preferred to Immanuel Lutheran Church and American Diabetes Association.

WALTER ROSS SEAQUIST
Walter Ross Seaquist of Duluth passed away Friday, Sept. 21, 2001, surrounded by his family.
"Skip, " as he was known to all his friends, was born in Duluth Feb. 23, 1946. He graduated in 1964 from East High School, after which he joined the National Guard and attended University of Minnesota Duluth. In 1968, he married
his high school sweetheart, Cathy McNeil. He worked as an independent insurance salesman in Minneapolis, Grand Rapids and Deer River. Skip loved life, family and friends. He embraced joy in the absurd. "Somebody, tell a joke."
He was the foundation of his family and a touchstone for his friends. His life came full circle home to Duluth in 1997. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald.
Survivors include his wife, Cathy; daughters Joy and Julie; his parents Walter J. "Bud" and Agnes Seaquist; a sister, Carol (Ron) Brisbin; many nieces and nephews.

MARJORIE H. SKADSBERG
Marjorie H. Skadsberg, 75, formerly of West 13th Street died Friday, Sept. 21, 2001, in Viewcrest Health Center.
Born in Duluth Nov. 20, 1925, to Cecil and Petronella "Nellie" Vietor Cran, she was a 1943 graduate of Denfeld High School. Marjorie married
Wallace I. Skadsberg in Duluth Oct. 27, 1945. She was co-owner of Duluth Saw Co. in the West End, which she started with her husband and worked at until her retirement in 1997.
Marjorie was a lifetime member of The Lutheran Church of The Holy Trinity where she had been a member of and past president of the Rebecca Circle. She was a member of the PTA, Ensign Garden Club and also a clarinetist with the Duluth Symphony Orchestra.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and brother, James Cran.
Marjorie is survived by sons Steve (Jan) of Woodbury, Minn., Tim (Linda) of Rice Lake, Wis., Randy (Wendy) of Hermantown; daughters Kathy (Ray) Quinlivan of Yankton, S.D., Pam (Gerry) Herrington of Hermantown; brothers Gerald (Bev) Cran of Duluth, David Cran of Richmond, Va.; sisters Marilyn (Gordy) Lundquist of Cloquet, Ruth (Joe) Bujold of Richmond, Va., Joyce (Ben) Butters of Tecumseh, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
VISITATION: 10 until the 11 a.m. service Tuesday in Lutheran Church of The Holy Trinity. Burial in 0neota cemetery. Memorials to Lutheran Church of The Holy Trinity preferred.

MARIETTA FRAZIER SIEGER
Marietta Frazier Sieger, 89, formerly of East Skyline Parkway died Friday, Sept. 21, 2001, in Lakeshore Lutheran Home.
She was born in Crookston, Minn., Dec. 13, 1911, to James and Lulu (Cottet) Frazier. Marietta moved to Duluth as a young child and attended Denfeld High School. She married
Raymond L. Sieger in Duluth and together they raised two children. Mrs. Sieger was employed as a sales clerk in the Men's Department at Glass Block for 16 years, retiring in 1965. She was a member of the Park Point Buoys and Gulls, AARP, Minnesota Senior Federation N.E. Coalition and Duluth Senior Citizens.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond (1995); brothers James R. Frazier and Clifford Frazier; sisters Ellen Korman and Dorothy Goldman.
Survivors include a daughter, Joy (Robert) Ronning; a son, Lawrence "Larry" (Laddie) Sieger, all of Duluth; a sister, Alice Ryan of Wichita, Kan.; grandchildren Lorry (Robert) Witte of Ham Lake, Minn., Scott (Sandy) Ronning, Thomas (Susan) Sieger, Terry (Gary) Gilbert, Kelly Sieger, and Todd (Laura) Sieger, all of Duluth; great-grandchildren Sarah and Max Witte, Eric and Ryan Ronning, Kendra and Katie Sieger, Jillayne Gilbert and Dylan Cox.

ERLIN V. NELSON
Erlin V. Nelson, 85, formerly of Duluth died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001.
He was born and raised in Twin Valley, Minn.
His wife, Harda, preceded him in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia (William) Haeg; grandchildren Christopher, Lee and Jenny.

James J. "Jimmy" Balen
James J. "Jimmy" Balen, 43, of Duluth, formerly of Grand Junction, Colo., died Saturday, May 26, 2001.
He was born July 14, 1957, in Grand Rapids to Robert and Diana (VanWave) Balen. He had been a Duluth resident for most of his life and was a 1975 graduate of Morgan Park High School.
Jimmy loved traveling and riding his Harley with his son, Mike, fishing, camping and the mountains. He was known for his witty sense of humor, enjoyed talking to anyone and had a heart of gold.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert; grandparents Tillie and James VanWave; and uncles Gaylen VanWave and Leroy VanWave.
Survivors include a daughter, Angela (Scott) Skogquist of Grand Junction; a son, Michael of Grand Junction; his mother, Diane Balen of Duluth; brothers Bob (Patty) of Elko, Nev., and Dave (Krista) of Duluth, special aunt, Ruby VanWave of Duluth; special cousin, Jodi Mulek of Duluth; a granddaughter, Samantha "Little Bird" of Grand Junction; a niece, Breanna Anderson; a nephew, Austin J. Balen of Duluth; his dog, Chester; and other aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Service: 11 a.m. today in Bell Brothers Chapel. His remains will be scattered in various locations in the United States that were meaningful to him.
