This gracious, talented woman spent a portion of her life in Duluth in business. Vangie was instrumental in setting up the Duluth Building Trades Welfare Fund (insurance plan) office. However, most of her professional life was that of a teacher. Vangie taught in Leonard, N.D., and in Duluth, primarily at the Gnesen and Endion schools. Music was a major joy in her life. She possessed a beautiful singing voice that brought her acclaim in the Fargo-Casselton area and in Sun City, Ariz., where her active retirement years were spent. It was in those regions that she had soloed for many churches and synagogues.

She also was involved in multiple choruses in those places. In Duluth, in addition to teaching, her musical career encompassed years of dedication to the Duluth/Superior Symphony Chorus and St. Paul's Church Choir. Vangie also played the piano and organ and often danced, belonging to clubs for those activities.

Her hobby of baking was appreciated by her family, friends and neighbors. She was best known for her coffee cakes and strawberry pies. She also was an avid gardener, dabbled in oil and acrylic paints, and wrote children's books (unpublished).

Vangie's active church affiliations had been St. Paul's Episcopal in Duluth, St. Christopher's Episcopal in Sun City and Moravian Churches of Fargo-Casselton.
