Myers, Darlene
Darlene Myers, Oakwood, Ill., died Monday, June 2, 2003, at her residence.
Darlene was born July 26, 1945, in Oblong, Ill., the daughter of Gerald and Christine Baker Dorrough. She married Raymond Myers on June 18, 1965 in Oblong. He survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Penny Rae (Daniel) Hohmann, of Fountain City, Wis., and Amy Jo (Perry) Waddell, of Oakwood; a brother, Larry (Ellen) Dorrough, of Naples, Fla; and two grandchildren, Dylan Ray and Cassidy Darlene.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her twin sister, and two brothers.
Darlene was a member of the Christian Church in Oblong and was a graduate of Oblong High School. She worked at Collegiate Cap and Gown.
She enjoyed fishing, gardening, mushroom hunting, traveling, and taking frequent trips to Nashville, Ind., with her very close friend and coworker, Myrna Beals. She also enjoyed taking care of her yard and garden, and especially enjoyed playing with her grandchildren and entertaining at home. Darlene took pride in everything she did and was quite proud of her grandchildren.
Funeral services were Thursday, June 5, in Oakwood, with Chaplain Glenn Corbly officiating. Burial was in Stearns Cemetery.
Johnson, Florence
Florence Johnson of Lake Winona Manor died Monday, June 9, 2003, at Community Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Fountain City, Wis., on December 7, 1903, to Mathilda and John Frederich.
She is survived by her daughter, Marjorie (David) White, of Winona; step-grandchildren, Wendy (Larry) Ehnert, of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Christopher (Cathy) White, of Dublin, Cal.; and a brother, John Frederick of St. Paul, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emil; a son, James; and sisters, Alvina, Violette and Vernis.
A Mass of Celebration was held Thursday, June 12, at St. Casimir's Catholic Church. Burial will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery during a private service at a later date.

Kolter, Frank R.
Frank R. Kolter, 90, Winona, died Friday, June 13, 2003, at Lake Winona Manor.
He was born June 2, 1913. He married Vivian L. Keller. She died March 19, 1993.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. Friends may call Monday from 5-8 p.m. at the Watkowski-Pronschinske Funeral Home and again at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of the Mass. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Wessel, Roger D.
Roger D. Wessel, 65, died Wednesday, June 11, 2003, at his home in Trempealeau, Wis.
Roger is survived by his wife, Linda; one son, and four daughters.
Funeral services are planned for Tuesday, June 17, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ in Fountain City, Wis., with Rev. Frederick West officiating. Burial will be in Windridge Cemetery in Cary, Ill.
Friends may call at Hoff Funeral Homes - Burke Winona Chapel on Monday from 4-8 p.m. and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

Folsom, Florence L.
Florence L. Folsom, 93, died Thursday, June 12, 2003, at Lake Winona Manor.
Florence was born on August 24, 1909, in Genoa, Wis., to Evan and Nellie Appleby Halvorson. She married Franklin Vernon Folsom on November 9, 1928, at McKinley United Methodist Church, Winona.
She worked for Land O'Lakes in Lakefield, Minn., and helped her husband for forty years at their grocery and gas station at Lakefield.
She is a member of McKinley United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband on October 21, 1977, her parents, and a brother, Lawrence Halvorson.
She is survived by a son, Franklin (Pat) Folsom, of Jackson, Minn.; a daughter, Eunice (Eugene) Stachowitz, of Winona; six grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 16, at 11 a.m. at McKinley United Methodist Church, with Rev. Dr. Donald D. Budd officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Thomas Hundorf, Thomas Linville, Paul Brandt, Curt Stachowitz, Keith Stachowitz, and Grady Folsom.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 5-7 p.m. at Martin-Myhre Funeral Home, and at the church after 10 a.m. on Monday.

Foreman, Robert I.
Robert I. Foreman, 83, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, June 10, 2003, surrounded by his family.
He was born June 6, 1920, in Omaha Neb. He married Phyllis Dean on Sept. 15, 1956.
Robert was an employee of ISD 861 for 14 years; wrote the column "Foreman's Forum" in the Winona Diocesan paper The Courier from 1958 to 1971.
He served his country in WWII with the Army Air Corps. He received recognition from the American Red Cross for his many years of blood donations - 176 units, a regional record. He was an active member of St. John's Catholic Church. Robert loved his family and was a man of strong faith. He also was an avid reader and cribbage player.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Phyllis; daughters Paula, Teresa and Jennifer; son Stephen; sons-in-law Jim and Steve; grandchildren, Sean, Brian, Parker and Margaret; sister Rosa Lee (Foreman) Hausler; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John Foreman.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request donations be made to the American Red Cross, Winona Area Hospice Services and the International Myeloma Foundation.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 14, 2003, at St. John's Nepomucene Catholic Church, Winona with Rev. Daniel Dernek and Rev. Robert Meyer, officiating.

Oian, Helen M.
Helen M. Edwards Oian, 55, of rural Peterson, Minn. and formerly of the Utica, Minn. area died Wednesday, May 21, 2003, at her home following a short and courageous battle with cancer. Helen was born on May 18, 1948, in Winona, Minn. to Donald and Madeline (Rislow) Edwards. She attended the Worth Rural School, graduated from St. Charles High School in 1965, and attended Winona State College. Helen lived the majority of her life on the family farm south of Utica. On February 25, 2003, she and Michael Oian were spiritually united in marriage at the Midwestern Cancer Treatment Center Chapel in Zion, Ill. Helen lived in rural Peterson since the time of her marriage. She worked at St. Charles Elementary School where she was the sixth grade camp coordinator and assisted with musical programs for over 30 years. She worked at Herff Jones in Lewiston and in more recent years Helen worked at the Stewartville Care Center in Stewartville, Minn. in the activities department. She was a 4-H leader of the Utica Victory 4-H Club. Helen was a very active member of Faith Lutheran Church in St. Charles, its WELCA group, Sunday School music, and directed the church's King's Kids Choir. She was a musical participant of the Feast of Life and participated in the Lutheran Association of Missionaries and Pilots. Art, Music, and caring for people young and old were all the center of her life. She loved life, her family and lived each day to the fullest. Helen is survived by her husband Mike; two sisters: Donna (Joe) Speltz of Utica, Minn. and Marlys (Jim) Neldner of Lewiston, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one niece, Natasha. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2003, at Faith Lutheran Church in St. Charles with the Rev. Mark Wilms officiating. Burial will be in the Highland Prairie Lutheran Cemetery in rural Peterson. Friends may call from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday at Faith Lutheran Church and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Casket bearers will be Jerry Edwards, Roger Edwards, Jack Rislow, Richard Rislow, Ray McCready, and Dan Ihrke. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Dave and JoAnn Hanson, Duane and Donna Erickson, Steve and Judy Oian, and Rev. Gary and Mary Fehring. The family prefers memorials to the donor's choice.

Alson A. Abrams Sr., 87, of 1275 East Wincrest Drive, Winona, died Thursday, May 22, 2003, in the Intensive Care Unit of Community Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 27, at 2 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mary E. Hurmence officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Jick, Francis Joseph (Frank) Jr.
Francis Joseph (Frank) Jick Jr., born August 27, 1933, in Springville, Wis., passed away May 21, 2003, at Ladysmith Hospital, of a heart attack.
He graduated from Galesville High School in 1952. He served four years in the Air Force. He had been employed by Fiberite and Lake Center of Winona.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rita; two children, Ellen (Jerry) McKean, and Michael, of Cal.; three stepdaughters; one stepson; two grandchildren, Kevin and Stacey; his mother, Leora Jick of Galesville, Wis.; three brothers, Eugene (Norma) Jick of Cal., Ken (Shirley) Jick of Madison, Wis., and Robert Jick of Cornell, Wis.; a sister, Anne (Jick) Sandvick of Galesville; an aunt, Evelyn Murphy of Winona; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Francis (Frank) Joseph Jick Sr., and a brother, Raymond.
Schneider, Raymond Rudolph
Raymond Rudolph Schneider, 67, of Burnsville, Minn., passed away May 16, 2003, of an apparent heart attack.
Ray was born in Winona, to Rudolph and Clara (Pellowski) Schneider on July 11, 1935. Following service in the Army he was employed in Minneapolis. He married Janice Lentsch on August 25, 1962, in Eden, S.D.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Patty.
He is survived by his wife Janice; eight children: Kevin (Robin), Sandra (Bruce) Teubner, Nancy (Tom) Wooden, Lori (Jim) Quaal, Amy, Karl, Angela and Allison; eight grandchildren: Kelsey and Bryce Teubner, Allie, Ben, Sam and John Wooden, and Emily and Jo Quaal; two step-grandchildren: Justin Schrader and Lacey Nytes; two sisters, Sue (John) Schreiber and Judy (John) Wolfe; a brother-in-law, Al Smith; and many nieces and nephews.
Ray worked in the electronics business for many years, and before retiring in 2001, was a custodian at the Burnsville School District for ten years.
He was a member of the Shakopee K of C Council 4th Degree and the Savage-Prior Lake 3rd Degree Council.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, May 20, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Savage, with burial in St. John's Cemetery.
Memorials are preferred to St. John the Baptist School or ProAct (employer of persons with disabilities).

Erdmann, Ervin E.
Ervin E. Erdmann, went to his eternal home on Tuesday, May 20, 2003.
Ervin was born February 26, 1929, to Herman and Theresa Westphal Erdmann on a farm near Ridgeway, Minn. On December 30, 1952, he was joined in marriage to Maxine Roalsvig at Zoar Lutheran Church, Arnegard, N.D.
Ervin was a member of the U.S. Army from 1954-1956. While in the service he lived in Missouri and California.
Ervin was a milk hauler in the Ridgeway, Minn. area for 43 years. He was also the manager of the Ridgeway Cheese Factory for 15 years.
He was a lifetime member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ridgeway, and a member of the Gittens-Leidel American Legion Post #595, in LaCrescent, Minn.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine; three sons, Daniel (Laurie) Erdmann of Dakota, Minn., Jeffrey (Rachel) Erdmann of LaCrescent, and Randolph (Brenda) Erdmann of Winona; four daughters, Patricia (Jeff) Steinfeldt of Dakota, Minn., Paula (Don) Dingfelder of Winona, Sarah (Steven) Bartz of LaCrescent, and Amy (Andrew) Wetzel of Stevensville, Mich.; grandchildren, Joshua, Andrew and Nicholas Steinfeldt, Katie and Mark Erdmann, Jeremy (Stacy) and Emily Erdmann, Casey, Megan and Colin Dingfelder, Josie, Jackie, Jamie, Jessie and Jordan Erdmann, and Paul, Phillip and Cassandra Bartz; three great-grandchildren, Matthew, Hannah and Daniel Steinfeldt; three brothers, Art (Mildred) Erdmann of LaCrescent, Kurt Erdmann of Rochester, Minn., and Herman (Marjorie) Erdmann of Dakota; a sister, Esther Stender of Winona; four sisters-in-law, Judith (Gerald) Curl of Beach, N.D., Lois Erdmann and Elva Kerns, both of Dakota, and Diane Erdmann of Winona; and special friends, Buddy, Tiger and Felix.
Ervin was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Willie, Gerhard and Paul Erdmann, and brother-in-law, Art Stender.
Funeral services were Friday at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ridgeway, with Pastor Joe Crabtree officiating. Burial was in Bush Cemetery, Ridgeway, where military rites were provided by the Gittens-Leidel American Legion Post #595.
Casketbearers were his grandsons and great-grandsons.
Ervin was a loving husband, father, grandpa and great-grandpa. His life was his family, his work, his antique tractors, toy tractors, John Deere memorabilia, and miniature horses.
