Beatrice Mary Landers, of Red Wing, Minn., died Sunday, July 6, 2003, at Fairview Seminary Home.
Funeral services were Thursday, July 10, at the Church of St. Joseph, with Rev. Thomas Kommers officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.

Jennie J. Hunger, 91, Winona, formerly of Fountain City, Wis., died Friday, July 11, 2003, at Sauer Memorial Home.

Bond, Lloyd W.
Lloyd W. Bond, age 93, of Fountain City, Wis., died Tuesday, July 8, 2003 at Community Memorial Hospital, Winona, MN
Lloyd Willard was born September 11, 1909, in Gilmanton, Wis. to John Leigh and Lydia Ann (Joos) Bond. On March 16, 1935, he married Florine Turnbull at Galesville, Wis. and she preceded him in death on December 18, 2000.
Lloyd farmed in the Fountain City area all his life, and for many years operated the Bond Dairy, delivering milk to Fountain City residences. He also served on the Fountain City Council for 23 years, and on the board of directors of the Fountain City Mututal Fire Insurance Co. He was a charter member of the Fountain City Lions Club and was on the Buffalo County Farm Bureau board of directors, serving as president for two years.
He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Fountain City; Alma Masonic Lodge No. 184, and the Eau Claire Scottish Rite Consistory. He was also a member of Zor Shrine Temple of Madison, Wis. and a member of Onalaska Chapter No. 249 Order of Eastern Star.
He is survived by a son, Gary L Bond, Fountain City, Wis.; a daughter Ann (Willis) Stuber, Fountain City, Wis.; a brother Stanley Bond, Fountain City, Wis.; three sisters Evelyn Carlson, Dalton, Ga., Eileen Strang, Fairfax, Iowa, and Ruby Klein, Cochrane, Wis. and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Florine, and a sister Gladys Bond.
A memorial service will be Thursday, July 24, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ, Fountain City, Wis. with Rev. Fritz West, officiating. Private family interment will be at Fountain City Public Cemetery, Fountain City, Wis.
Friends may call at the church on Thursday, July 24 from 1:00 p.m. to the time of service.
Memorials may be directed to St. John's United Church of Christ or St. Michael's Home both of Fountain City.

Woodward, Sherman A.
Sherman A. Woodward, 86, of 3985 Ninth Street, Goodview, Minn., died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002, at Lake Winona Manor. He was born in Winona County on June 30, 1916, the son of Clyde and Clara (Boynton) Woodward.
He married Doris E. Strelow on January 28, 1942, in the parsonage of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church.
He served his country during World War II in the Army Air Corp attaining the rank of Tech 5. Sherman saw action at Normandy, Rhineland and in the Ardennes.
Sherman farmed in Winona County for many years, retiring due to disability in 1963. He is a member of St. Matthew's Ev. Lutheran Church and American Legion Post #9, Winona.
Survivors are his wife Doris; sons, Sherman (Carol) of Minnesota City, Minn., Gerald (Kathy) of Newport Beach, Cal.; daughters, Judith Woodward, South St. Paul, Minn., and Lynn (Tim) Rockwell, Winona; eleven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; sisters Geneva Fitzpatrick, Raymond, Wash., Bertha (Frank) Hunt, Rancho Cordova, Cal., Leona (Dan) Kujak, and Shirley (Richard) Buchan, Winona.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters and 2 brothers and an infant brother.
Funeral services for Sherman will be on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthew's Ev. Lutheran Church, Rev. James Nelson officiating. Interment will follow at Scotch Cemetery, Fremont, Minn., where members of American Legion Post #9 will conduct military burials rites.
Casket bearers are grandsons, Jim Woodward, Lonnie Schafer, Ron Schafer, Shannon Johnson, Brian Woodward and Matthew Rockwell, and grandsons-in-law, Rick Bollin and Scott Ledebuhr.
Memorial gifts may be directed to St. Matthew's Lutheran Church or to Lake Winona Manor.

Block, Adelia A.
Adelia A. Block, 93, died Tuesday, December 24, 2002, at Lake Winona Manor.
Adelia was born March 30, 1909, in Wilson Township, Winona County, Minn., to Gustave and Elizabeth Ranzo Hornberg. She married Henry A. Block, Jr., on November 27, 1926, in Wilson. She farmed with her husband in Wilson and also was a homemaker.
She is a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wilson, and the Wilson Sunshine Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on January 19, 1960, a daughter, Doris, seven sisters and four brothers.
She is survived by one son, Alton (Marilyn) Block of Goodview, Minn.; one daughter, LaVonne (Roland) Speltz of Goodview; five granddaughters, Sandy (Dan) Tropple, Vicki (Dan) Wenzel, Debra Frick (Milton) Wait, Sharon (Dan) Ihrke, and Cynthia (Doug) Thesing; fourteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a special niece, Florence Strelow; and many nieces and nephews.,
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 28, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Rev. Paul Stratman officiating. Burial was in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Wilson.
Pallbearers were grandsons Dan Tropple, Dan Wenzel, Dan Ihrke, Doug Thesing, and great-grandsons Randy Frick and Jeremy Wenzel.
Honorary pallbearers were great-grandsons Rodney Frick and Joshua Wenzel.

Ellis Ann Newman, 61, died Wednesday, December 25, 2002, at her daughter's home in Minnesota City, Minn.

Muras, Marie E.
Marie E. Muras, 76, formerly of 165 East Fourth St., died Tuesday, December 24, 2002, at Winona Community Memorial Hospital.
She was born February 14, 1926, in Winona, to Frank and Mary (Palubicki) Jennison. She married Vernon Knee and they later divorced. Marie married Alexander E. Muras on May 17, 1947, in Rochester, Minn. He died June 27, 1991.
Marie was employed as a waitress at the Golden Frog Restaurant in Fountain City, Wis. for many years. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Marilee Barrientos and Cheryl (Charles) Schendel, both of Winona; a son, William (Patricia) Knee of Winona; five grandchildren, Kristin (Brian) Russell, Lisa (Scott) Barum, Justin Barrientos, Eric Mish, and Maia Schendel; and five great-grandchildren, Brian II, Alex, Michael, and Jennifer Russell, and Andrew Barum.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a grandson, Kyle, three sisters and six brothers.
Funeral services were held Friday, December 27, at Watkowski-Pronschinske Funeral Home with Rev. Daniel R. Dernek officiating. Burial was in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Minn.

Landers, Oliver C. "Tiny"
Oliver C. "Tiny" Landers, 86, passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2002.
He was born July 29, 1916, in Lewiston, Minn. He married Adeline M. Schultz of Arcadia, Wis.
He had been employed by Grain Belt Beer Co., both Winona County and Trempealeau County Sheriff's Departments, and the G-E-T School District as a bus driver. Tiny later was a farmer and became a carpenter for the rest of his life.
Survivors are three daughters, Barbara (Paul) Zimmerman, Judy (Doug) Fleming, and Rochelle (Tim) Pervisky; eleven grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Geraldine of Winona.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Allen, and his parents, Oscar and Nora.
A Funeral Mass was held Saturday, December 28, at St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church in Trempealeau, with Rev. Robert Wagner officiating. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Trempealeau, Wis.

Kratz, Violet H.
Violet H. Kratz, 89, Stockton, Minn., died Thursday, December 26, 2002, at Winona Community Memorial Hospital.
Violet was born May 13, 1913, to Jacob and Johanna (Groth) Schmitt in Pleasant Hill Township of Winona County. She was baptized, confirmed and later married at Grace Lutheran Church in Ridgeway, Minn.
She attended Boynton Grade School, then Winona Junior and Senior High Schools. Upon graduation from high school, she attended Winona State Teachers College (Winona State University) of Minnesota for two years. She then taught in rural schools at Whitlock, Nodine, Bethany and Hillsdale.
On June 9, 1942, she married Claude Kratz at Grace Lutheran Church in Ridgeway. They lived first in Winona then Violet lived in Fort Smith, Ark., while Claude was in the Army at Camp Chaffee, Ark. Upon his discharge, they came back to Winona. In August of 1945, they moved to Stockton, Minn. When her children were older, she went back to teaching at Minnesota City and Madison School. She also went to college in her spare time and attained bachelors and masters degrees from Winona State University.
Violet was very active in her church and community. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Stockton and its Ladies Aid, a leader of Stockton Peppy Pals 4-H Club for 13 years, a member of the Stockton Homemaker Group since 1947, a member of Winona Area Widowed Persons, and of several card groups. She had been a resident of St. Anne Extended Care in Winona prior to entering the hospital.
She is survived by a daughter, Karen (Bob) Levy of Stockton; two sons, Allyn (Ellen) of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Wayne (Sandy) of Davenport, Iowa; grandchildren, Kristen (Anthony) Schmaltz of Dillon, Colo., Theodore (Teresa) Torgerson of South St. Paul, Minn., Lisa Kratz of Colorado Springs, Shaun Kratz of Loveland, Colo., Eric Kratz of Davenport, Iowa, and Jessica (Zach Wilske) Kratz of Washington, D.C.; three great-grandchildren, Tannah and Trad Torgerson and Boone Schmaltz; six step-grandchildren, Steve and Bob Levy, Michelle Tubbising, Molly Smith, Josh and Beau Adams; and two step-great-grandchildren, Tasha and Taber.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude, her parents, Jacob and Johanna, three brothers, Charlie, William and Walter Schmitt, and four sisters, Magdalene Davis, Elizabeth Buege, Linda Tresmer, and Margaret Schmitt.
Funeral services were Saturday, December 28, at Grace Lutheran Church in Stockton, with Rev. Darin Berg officiating. Burial was in Witoka Cemetery, Witoka, Minn.

Warren "Bud" Fay, 82, of Homer, Minn., died on Wednesday, December 25, 2002, at the Yuma Regional Hospital, Yuma, Ariz.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 31, at 2 p.m. at Martin-Myhre Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Christine Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, West Prairie, Centerville, with military rites provided by the Leon J. Wetzel American Legion Post #9. Visitation will be held at Martin-Myhre Funeral Home after 1 p.m. on Tuesday.
