Carter, Michelle K.
Michelle K. Carter, age 44, of Winona, died on Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at Lake Winona Manor, Winona.
Michelle Kae was born on April 13, 1958, in Winona to John S. and Jean (Dascher) Carter.
She graduated from Winona Senior High School and was a lifelong area resident of Winona. Michelle worked for Winona State University in the food services department for over 25 years and also worked for ORC, Winona. She attended Faith Assembly of God Church, Winona.
She is survived by her mother, Jean Carter, Safety Harbor, Fla.; two brothers, John Carter, Hiku, Maui, Hawaii, and Patrick (Jean) Carter, Winona; one nephew, Paris Carter; seven nieces, Stephanie Carter, Rebecca Carter, Christine Carter, Lindsey Sagen, Shannon Sagen, Ashley Sagen and Yaro Carter; a brother-in-law, John Sagen, Winona; a special companion, Gerald Erickson, and a special friend, Jennifer Vieth.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Carter, and a sister, Lori Sagen.
Memorial services will be Saturday, April 12, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. at Faith Assembly of God Church, 1717 West Broadway, Winona, with Robert Bollant officiating. Interment will be at Montana Cemetery, rural Buffalo County, Wis.
A time of gathering will be at the church on Saturday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Home & Community Options/Community Living Services, 66 East Third Street, Winona.
Funeral arrangements are being made by the Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Winona.

Steinbauer, Ede Louise
Ede Louise Steinbauer, age 92, of Rockville, Maryland, died on Thursday, April 3, 2003, at Suburban Hospital, Bethesda, Maryland.
Ede was born on December 28, 1910, in Washington, D.C., to Adolph and Josephine (Dilger) Keyser. She married Wilton M. (Ty) Steinbauer, formerly of Winona and he preceded her in death on May 8, 1998.
She is survived by one son, Thomas M. Steinbauer, Cary, North Carolina.; three daughters, Felicia Ann Sheehan, Westfield, New Jersey, Margaret Mary Peterson, Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and Jeanne Marie Tolton, Rockville, Maryland; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Ede is survived locally by a sister-in-law, Josephine Steinbauer, Winona, and nephews, Ronnie Steinbauer, Winona, Jerry (Mercy) Steinbauer and David (Margie) Steinbauer, all of Rochester.
A prayer service will be Saturday, April 12, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. at the Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home, Winona, with Rev. John M. Sauer, officiating. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Winona, Minn.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Rosenow, Kenneth E.
Kenneth E. Rosenow, 65, of 268 Mankato Avenue, died Thursday, April 10, 2003, in Winona County, on Highway 61 and I-90 near Dresbach, Minn., doing what he loved most, riding his motorcycle.
He was born February 22, 1938, in Arcadia, Wis., to Marvin and Molly (Gawlik) Rosenow. He married Janice M. Fratzke on August 22, 1964, in Winona.
He was employed at Thern Inc., retiring after 27 years of service.
He was a member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart Parish.
Kenneth served his country in the National Guard and the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Rosenow, of Winona; one son, Christopher (Carri) Rosenow, of Winona; one daughter, Kimberly (Gary) Drazkowski, of Tomah, Wis.; his mother, Molly Rosenow, of Arcadia; a grandson, Cory Rosenow; and a sister, Janice (Harold) Giemza, of Arcadia.
He was preceded in death by his father, a son, Jeffrey, and a brother, Donald Gawlik.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at Watkowski-Pronschinske Funeral Home. Private burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Englerth, Helen Mary
Helen Mary Englerth, 76, of 407 East Wabasha St., died Monday, April 7, 2003, at her home.
She was born May 24, 1926, in Winona, to Alphonse C. "Alfred" and Frances G. (Zabinski) Jerezek. She married James T. Englerth on June 24, 1949, in Winona.
Helen was a beautician and worked at area beauty salons. She also managed Westfield Golf Club with her husband, Jim.
She was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish and its Quilters Guild, and Westfield Golf Club. Helen was a championship bowler and golfer.
Helen is lovingly survived by her husband, James, of Winona; and one sister, Irene (John "Skip") Thrune, of Fullerton, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Friday, April 11, at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, with Rev. Daniel R. Dernek officiating. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Crawford, George
George Buchanan Crawford, 95, of 104 Main St., died Thursday, April 10, 2003, at Lake Winona Manor.
He was born in LaCrosse, Wis., on March 30, 1908, to James and Mary (Shiels) Crawford. He married Pansy E. Gilbert in Winona on June 16, 1934. She preceded him in death on June 1, 2001.
George owned and operated the West End Shoe Repair for many years, retiring in 1978.
He was a member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, and a past member of Council #639, Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed playing and repairing fiddles. Many people knew him as the "Fiddler." He played with groups at area fairs and festivals. He was a man with the utmost patience, as he spent hours repairing fiddles.
George is survived by his sons, James R. (Arlene) Crawford, of Dickeyville, Wis., George A. Crawford Jr., of Madison, Wis., Gerald D. Crawford, of Winona, and Dennis R. (Virginia) Crawford, Dekalb, Ill.; a daughter, Beverly Jean Haney, of Winona; twenty grandchildren; and twenty-nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Pansy.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for George on Saturday, April 12, at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, with Rev. Shawn Haremza officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Casketbearers were his grandsons, Ronald, Matthew, David and Steven Crawford, John and Thomas Haney Jr.
A memorial is being arranged.

Broecker, Joan M.
Joan M. (Kratz) Broecker, loving mother, grandmother and friend, passed away at age 75, Monday, April 7, 2003, at her home in St. Mary's Point, Minn.
She was born August 2, 1927, in Winona, to Roy and Myrtle (Ladewig) Kratz.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, William, her parents, Roy and Myrtle Kratz, of Winona, and a granddaughter, Allison.
She is survived by her children, Barbara (John) Heddle, of Winona, Stephen (Carol), of St. Mary's Point, James (Stacey), of St. Mary's Point, and Robert, of San Francisco, Calif.; grandchildren, Andrew, Michael, Signe, Helen, Elijah, and Clara Broecker; sisters, Deloris Limpert, and Myrtle (Richard) Shira, of Winona; a brother, Roland (Carmen) Kratz, of LaCrosse, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews.
Joan truly loved her family, and that includes many friends and neighbors. Joan enjoyed travel, was an animal lover, an active member of Memorial Lutheran Church in Afton, Minn., and an enthusiastic supporter of many causes. Joan was happiest when her home was filled with family and friends accompanied by the happy noise of grandchildren and pets playing.
A celebration of her life was held Thursday, April 10, at Memorial Lutheran Church in Afton, Minn. A memorial gathering was also held Wednesday, April 9, in Stillwater, Minn. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Afton.

Rand, Frances Louise
Frances Louise Rand, 88, formerly of Winona, died Friday, April 4, 2003, in Oak Park, Ill.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 28, at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Winona, with Rev. Chris Robinson officiating. Burial took place in Woodlawn Cemetery, Winona.

Brooks, Audrey Mae
Audrey Mae Brooks, 73, of 617 West Seventh Street, died Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at Community Memorial Hospital, Winona.
Audrey was born on September 22, 1929, in Fargo, N.D., to Rollo and Selma Engel Brush. She grew up in Valley City and graduated from Valley City High School in 1947. She married Raymond Brooks on December 3, 1950, in Valley City, N.D. They moved to Winona in August of 1965.
She was a homemaker and was the church secretary for McKinley United Methodist Church during the 1970s.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond (Ray); three children, Kevin Brooks, of San Francisco, Calif., Kathy (Dennis) Doran, of Winona, and Kari (Jason) Shiroma, of Winona; grandchildren, Joshua Doran, Jessica Doran, Chad Shiroma and Aaron Shiroma; and a brother, James (Colleen) Brush, of West Richland, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Ivy and Jeanne, and a brother, Willis.
Services for Audrey were held Friday, April 11, at Martin-Myhre Funeral Chapel. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Casketbearers were Scott Daniels, Michael Daniels, Kip Monson, Matthew Voulgarakis, John Lawrence, and Neil Monson.
Martin-Myhre Funeral Home assisted with the arrangements.

Driscoll, Margaret
Margaret Driscoll, 83, Winona, died Sunday, July 20, 2003, at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minn.
Margaret Bridget was born April 19, 1920, in Caledonia, Minn., to James Cahill and Mary Ceclia (Dunn) Driscoll. She attended rural elementary school and Loretto High School in Caledonia, graduating in 1937. She graduated from the College of Saint Teresa in 1941, with a B.A. degree. Following four years as a social worker in public agencies (Faribault and Mower Counties), she enrolled at the Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C., where she obtained a Masters Degree in social work in 1947. For the next five years she was employed by Olmsted County Human Services as a Social Work Supervisor. In 1952, Margaret accepted a similar position with Catholic Charities in Winona, and in the next 26 years held a variety of titles as the agency expanded.
She became a member of the social work faculty at the College of Saint Teresa in 1978, and taught in the social work program until 1987, when she retired. Throughout her years in Winona she also served as ancillary adjunct faculty at WSU and St. Mary's University in social work programs or related fields. Margaret was also a social work consultant to the Semcac staff, area nursing homes, Community Memorial Hospital Social Work Department, and other agencies following her years at Catholic Charities.
Margaret was active in various community activities and had a special interest in services for the developmentally impaired of all ages. She served on various related boards, including Home and Community Options, and others. She was a member of St. Mary's Parish and a long-term volunteer at St. Anne Hospice. She was a member of Westfield Golf Club, the Senior Friendship Center, Wise Women, and other community organizations.
Margaret is survived by cousins, Maureen (Alfred) McGinnis, and children, of Winona; George (Ann) Hildahl, and daughter, of Bonita, Cal.; Dorothy (Paul) Dunn, and children, of LaCrosse, Wis.; and Patricia (Dunn) Waters, and children, of Albert Lea, Minn.; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two younger brothers, James Paul and Eugene, and a cousin, Donald Hildahl.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 25, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Winona, with Father Keefe officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Caledonia, Minn. Friends may gather at the Commons of St. Mary's Church on Friday, one hour prior to Mass.
Memorials may be directed to Home and Community Options, St. Mary's Church, and Mass intentions.

Mueller, Janet S.
Janet S. Mueller, 90, of Wabasha, Minn., and formerly of Alma, Wis., died Sunday, July 20, 2003, at St. Elizabeth Health Care Center in Wabasha.
She was born May 2, 1913, in Triumph, Minn., to John and Johanna (Severson) Steen. Janet graduated from Buffalo County Normal School in Alma and she taught school in a country school for two years. On May 25, 1935, she married Raymond Mueller at Triumph, Minn. Janet and Raymond farmed for many years in the Alma, Wis. area, as well as Elgin and St. Charles, Minn. areas, eventually retiring in Wabasha, Minn. in 1979.
Janet had worked at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., for several years. She enjoyed sewing, playing piano, and gardening.
She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Lake City, Minn.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond Mueller, of Wabasha; five daughters, Muriel (Paul) Douglas, of Lewiston, Minn., Shirley (Ronald) Johnston, of Red Wing, Minn., Judy Ginther, of Sioux Falls, S.D., June (Taisir) Mueller, of Plymouth, Minn., and Gwen Mathers, of Buffalo City, Wis.; ten grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Signe Gabrielson, of Minneapolis, Minn.
She was preceded in death by one stillborn son, one great-granddaughter, her parents, seven brothers, and two sons-in-law.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 24, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Lake City, Minn., with Rev. Bruce Stam officiating. Burial will be in the Buffalo City Cemetery in Buffalo City, Wis., at 2 p.m. Thursday.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Stohr-Hagen-Wozney Funeral Home in Alma, Wis., where there will be a 7:30 p.m. prayer service, and from 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the church in Lake City.
Pallbearers will be her ten grandchildren.
