Lessman, Marcella (Sally)
Marcella (Sally) Kujak Lessman, 70, died February 12, 2003, in Mesa, Ariz.
She was from Kenosha, Wis. She was born May 24, 1932, to Harry and Alice (Benczyk) Kujak.
She is survived by her husband, Ray; two sons, David and Dan of Kenosha; six daughters, Sue Mattson of Hisperia, Calif., Jane Deeze of Kenosha, Mary Anderson of Venice, Fla., Judy Carmichael of Chandler, Ariz., Nancy Lessman of El Cajon, Calif., and Elizabeth Lawlor of Kenosha; a brother, Roy of Arcadia, Wis.; and three sisters, Rosemary Pronschinske of Arcadia, Louise Kujak of Winona and Grace of Oregon
Services were held in Mesa on February 15. Memorial services will be held on May 24 in Kenosha, at St. Mary's Church at 10 a.m.

Felstead, Bernice I. (Carson)
Bernice I. (Carson) Felstead, 72, of 718 East Fifth St., Winona, died Thursday, March 6, 2003, at her home.
She was born August 15, 1930, in Winona, to Peter and Catherine (Jaszewski) Golt. She married Edward Carson on May 7, 1949. He died in March 1975. She married Robert W. Felstead on August 29, 1992.
She was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish and Harvest House.
Bernice was employed at and retired from St. Mary's College after 26 years of service.
Survivors include her husband, Robert of Winona; three children, Steven (Mary) Carson, Linda Theis and Jon Carson, all of Winona; a granddaughter, Tiffany (Joel) Theis-Martin; two stepchildren, Ramona (Marcial) Villafan of St. Charles, Minn., and Ravena Falcon of Georgia; six stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; a brother, Henry (MaryLou) Golt of Long Beach, Calif.; and three sisters, Gertrude Schommer of St. Charles, and Mary Gallas and Ann Wessel, both of Winona.
Her parents, one brother and four sisters preceded her in death.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Monday, March 10, at 11 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church with Rev. Daniel R. Dernek officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Friends may call on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at Watkowski-Pronschinske Funeral Home where a Harvest House Prayer Service will be held at 2:30 p.m., and a Christian Wake Service at 4 p.m. Friends may also call at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until time of the Mass.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and nephews.

Jorgenson, Alvin C.
Alvin C. Jorgenson, 78, of LaCrescent and formerly of Houston, Minn., died Tuesday, March 04, 2003, at Franciscan Skemp Healthcare in Lacrosse, Wis. Alvin was born on December 29, 1924, in LaCrosse, Wis. to Dan and Rovilla (Vix) Jorgenson. He was raised in the Houston area. Alvin served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during WWII. On March 4, 1950, he married Cleo Morris. Alvin lived in the Houston area for most of his life, where he was a farmer and worked as a plumber. Alvin and Cleo moved to LaCrescent recently. He was a member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church and the Arnet Sheldon American Legion in Houston. Alvin is survived by his wife, Cleo; three sons: Wayne (Marie) Jorgenson of Waco, Texas, Gary (Polly) Jorgenson of Dakota, Minn., and Joe (Wanda) Jorgenson of LaCrescent, Minn.; one brother, Archie (Carol) Jorgenson of Houston; one sister, Mary (David) Mader of Caledonia, Minn.; 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Ruth Krumrie, one granddaughter, Bridget Krumrie, and one brother, Harold Jorgenson. The funeral service was on Friday, March 7, 2003, at the Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston with the Rev. Lane Zaffke officiating. There were Military Honors by the Arnet Sheldon American Legion Post of Houston. Following the funeral service Alvin's body was cremated with burial in the Stone Church Cemetery in Houston at a later date. Hoff Funeral Homes Houston Chapel.
Matzke, Elmer A.
Elmer A. Matzke, 80, or Rt. 1 Rollingstone died Wednesday March 5, 2003, at Winona Lake Manor.
Elmer was born December 27, 1922, in Norton Township of Winona County to Edward and Frieda Hilke. He and Henrietta Wamhoff were married July 8, 1946, at St. Martin's Parsonage in Winona. The couple farmed their entire married life in Norton Township. He entered Lake Winona Manor October 15, 2002.
Elmer belonged to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Norton Township.
Survivors include his wife, Henrietta, four children, Rodger (Lois) Matzke and Russell (Vicki) Matzke both of Rollingstone, Robert (LaVonne) Matzke of Beldenville, Wis., and Kay Matzke of Rollingstone, 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mabel Hedrick of Altoona, Wis., and Lucille Baker of Kasson. A son, Jeff, has preceded him in death.
At Elmer's request there will be no services. His cremated body will be buried in Trinity Ev. Cemetery at a later date.

Kuehn, Luella M.
Luella M. Kuehn, 81, of Cochrane, Wis., died Thursday, March 6, 2003, at Lake Winona Manor.
She was born February 19, 1922, in Lake City, Minn., to Frederick and Margaret (Lohn) Glander. On February 20, 1939, she married Melvin Kuehn in Cochrane. He died October 17, 1993.
Luella was a homemaker all of her life. She also worked several years at the LaCrosse Milling Company in Cochrane.
She enjoyed gardening and her flowers. She loved her grandchildren and the time spent with them.
Luella was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Alma, Wis.
Survivors include four daughters, Beverly (Dennis) Daniel of Lemoore, Calif., Sandra (Duane) Loesel of Alma, Kathy (Dave Nowlan) Zastrow of Winona, and Nancy (Don "Skip") Todd of Trempealeau, Wis.; two sons, Clarwin (Jean) Kuehn and Larry (Helga) Kuehn, both of Winona; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; six sisters, Eldona Stuber of Winona, Wilma Waskowiak of Rhinelander, Wis., Marcella Sass of Alma, Iva Kennebeck of Cochrane, Delores Sutter of Fountain City, Wis., and Shirley (Roger) Meier of Stoddard, Wis.; and two brothers, Melvin Glander and Richard Glander, both of Racine, Wis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one granddaughter, one great-grandson, her parents, a sister, Harriet Oesau, and two brothers, LeRoy and Frederick Glander.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, at St. John Lutheran Church in Alma, with Rev. Joel Bacon officiating. Burial will be in the Buffalo City Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Monday at the J.S. Wozney Funeral Chapel in Cochrane, where there will be an 8 p.m. prayer service. Friends may also call from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at the church in Alma.
Pallbearers will be Curt Kuehn, Mike Daniel, Paul Loesel, Melissa Zastrow, Cindy Huber and Angela Commurfer.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Kuehn, Julie Semas, Michelle Carothers, Brenda Wason, Becky Jonsgaard, Tammy Foss, Jennifer Loesel, Larry Kuehn and Eileen Kuehn.

Olson, Helen Marie
Helen Marie Olson, 86, a resident of Sauer Memorial Home, died Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at Community Memorial Hospital. Helen was born Nov. 23, 1916, in Rogers, Nebraska to Marie (Shultz) and Henry Arps.
She married Noel L. Olson on Oct. 29, 1936; they moved to Winona in 1942. Helen belonged to St. Paul's Episcopal Church and was a member of the Churchwomen's Guild.
She worked at H. Choate & Co. for 25 years enjoying the customers that patronized the store; many of whom continued to recognize her for the rest of her life.
Her grandchildren and great grandchild brought her much joy.
Helen is survived by a daughter, Patricia (Robert) Doerer, Winona and a son, Michael (Mary) Olson, Winona. Three grandchildren, Bradley Doerer, Golden Valley, Minn.; Bryan (Helen) Doerer, Colorado Springs, Colorado and Jennifer Olson, Winona. One great-grandchild, Alexia; two sisters, Hattie Howell, North Bend, Neb., and Fern Arps, Fremont, Neb. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Noel; three sisters and three brothers.
Her family wishes to thank the staff at the Sauer Memorial Home and Community Memorial Hospital for their kindness and concern; also her physician of many years, Dr. Horace Andersen.
Funeral services for Helen will be on Monday, March 10, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Winona, Rev. Maggie Rose Muldoon officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Winona. Friends may call at the Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home on Sunday, March 9th from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., then on Monday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church.
Casket bearers are Bradley, Bryan and William Doerer, Richard Mann, Keith Inman and Phillip Conway.

Residence, Clay M.
Clay Mathews Residence, 20, died Monday, March 3, 2003, at his home in Minneapolis.
Clay was born in Winona on May 10, 1982, to Ted and Susan (Foster) Residence. He attended the Winona Area Catholic Schools, graduating from Cotter Senior High School in 2001.
Clay most recently had been attending the Minneapolis International Art Institute, studying graphic design with a desire to pursue the culinary arts and to one day open his own restaurant. He possessed a talent for art rarely seen in one so young and had a way to make the simplest of dishes a delight to consume, with cheesecakes being one of his favorite to please Dad and friends with.
Clay, a wonderful, warm and loving son, brother, nephew, and friend to many, will be sadly missed by all who know him and have come to love him. He was a kind and caring young man with many talents whose life was just beginning. Friends and family remember him as always having a way to bring a smile to their faces and joy to their hearts.
He now rests in the Lord's care and his Grandparents' loving arms.
Clay is survived by his parents, Ted and Susan Residence; his brothers and sisters, Jessica and Joe Rozek, Kathryn Residence, Cassie Residence, Kristopher Residence, and Ryan Residence; his grandfather, Jack Foster; his aunts and uncles, Pat (Denes) McIntosh, Christine (Rich Lloyd) Foster, Nina Martin, Katie Faerber, Jackie Residence, Wayne Residence, and their children; his extended family and many friends.
Clay was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dorothy and Ted Residence and Marian W. Foster.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2003, at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart Church, Winona, with Rev. Shawn T. Haremza officiating. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Winona.
Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
Clay... May the Lord bless you and keep you, watching over your spirit until we can be together again. We miss you and love you, Clay, we truly do.

Sommers, William F.
William F. Sommers, 89, died Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at Winona Community Memorial Hospital in Winona, Minn. Bill was born October 27, 1913, in Dickinson, N.D., to William and Anna (Bitzan) Sommers. On November 20, 1935, he married Ferne Krause in Decorah, Iowa. Bill was a lifelong mechanic working for Bitzan Bros. Garage, Siefert Baldwin Motor Co. for 20 years, C. Paul Venables Cadillac where he was the service manager, was a partner operating a garage on Front St. in Winona and retired after working for Fibrite for 10 years. While working as a mechanic he also was a partner with his son at Buffalo Shooter Supply for 35 years. Bill had lived in Winona, Bluff Siding, Wis., and Marshland. Bill was a member of the Eagles Club in Winona, a member of the NRA and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include his wife, Ferne, one son, William R. (Darlene) Sommers of Trempealeau, Wis., one daughter, Faye Salwey of Fountain City, Wis.; one granddaughter, Debra Sommers, two step-grandchildren, Curt (Robin) Courrier and Bryce (Barbara) Courrier, 2 great-grandchildren, Jeremy and Jennifer Zimmerman, seven step great-grandchildren, Bethany, Becky, Alex, Sarah, Michelle, Eric and Neil Courrier, and two great-great-grandchildren, Marcus and Hallie. Preceding Bill in death were his parents, brother, John and granddaughter, Rhonda Sommers.
Funeral services were Friday, March 7, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. at Hoff Funeral Homes Burke Winona Chapel with John Swanson officiating. Spring burial will take place in the Fountain City Public Cemetery.
Kamrowski, Lorraine A. (Lubinski) Kujak
Lorraine A. Kamrowski, 73, of Arcadia, Wis., passed away on February 10, 2003, at the Franciscan Skemp Healthcare Nursing Home in Arcadia, following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born February 27, 1929, in Winona, Minn., to Robert J. and Modesta (Kuklinski) Lubinski. On June 26, 1947, Lorraine married Emil F. Kujak at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Winona. Lorraine and Emil had three children together. He passed away in 1968.
On April 23, 1969, Lorraine married Albert Kamrowski in St. Paul's Catholic Church in Minnesota City, Minn. Together they farmed in Arcadia, Wis.
Lorraine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, always having time to listen. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, auctions, country music, and was a great cook. She will be remembered as a loving, caring, kind-hearted person who always welcomed one with a smile, and she will be missed so very much by everyone who loved and knew her.
Lorraine is survived by her husband, Albert of Arcadia; 2 daughters, Virginia (Keith) Davis of Rochester, Minn., and Roxanne (Dave) McCorquodale of Minnesota City; 1 son, Emil (Lynn) Kujak of Winona; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Robert E. Lubinski of Elk Mound, Wis.; many sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Lorraine in death were her first husband, Emil F. Kujak; her parents; 1 grandson, Courtney Kujak; and 1 son-in-law, Courtney Cravens.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 14, 2003, at Holy Family Parish {formerly, St. Stanislaus Catholic Church}, with Rev. Patrick Umberger and Rev. Robert Polcyn officiating.
Spring burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Winona.
Friends may call from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday at the Wozney Funeral Home in Arcadia, where there will be a 7:30 p.m. Rosary. Friends may also call from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Serving as casket bearers will be Lorraine's grandsons, David A. McCorquodale Jr. and Mark Davis; and nephews, Chuck Kamrowski, Marty Kamrowski, Greg Johnson, and Jackie Gabrych.
