Jackman, Kathryn M.
Kathryn M. Jackman, 86, of Rt. 4, Winona, died and was found at her home Wednesday, April 3, 2002.
She was born October 8, 1915. She married Arthur L. Jackman on October 24, 1941 in McKinley United Methodist Church, Winona. He died May 10, 1999.
Kathryn was employed at the J.R. Watkins Co. for many years.
She was a member of McKinley United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Eastern Star for many years, presently serving as their secretary. She had also been past matron.
Survivors include a nephew, Gerald "Chico" Jackman of Winona; and a sister-in-law, Mabel E. Jackman of Rochester, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and one sister.
Funeral services were Tuesday, April 9, at Watkowski-Pronschinske Funeral Home with Rev. Shirley Duncanson officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers were Bill Green, Don Stedman, Jim Polley, Jack Nelson and Dick Berry.

Goetting, Carl P.
Carl P. Goetting, 76, died Thursday, April 4, 2002 at Sauer Memorial Home.
He was born March 17, 1926 in Dakota, Minn., to Paul C. and Lucy Nagle Goetting. He married Lucille Dissmore in 1945 in LaCrosse, Wis. She preceded him in death on December 24, 1990.
He was a truck driver for Independence Cabinet and worked at the Trane Company in LaCrosse for 19 years.
He is survived by his eleven children: Paul (Margaret) Goetting, Fountain City, Wis., Mark Goetting, Fountain City, Donna (Dennis) Conley of Plant City, Fla., Luke (Patricia) Goetting of Salem, SC, Deborah (John) Daniels of Independence, Wis., Mike (Rosemary) Goetting of Fountain City, Stephen of Arcadia, Wis., Sharon (Don) Gilliland of Trempealeau, Wis., Linda (Clarence)Lyga of Independence, Matthew (Beverly) Goetting of Whitehall, Wis., and Jude Goetting of Independence; twenty-eight grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; three brothers, Robert L. Goetting and Gale Goetting, both of Winona, and Roy (Jan) Goetting of Denver, Colo.; and two sisters, Gloria Hempfner and Lola (Ed) Krause, both of Winona.
He was also preceded in death by brothers, Glen and Lyle and a sister, Beth Hanson.
Memorial services were Monday, April 8, at Martin-Myhre Funeral Chapel.

Lancaster, James P. II
James P. Lancaster II, 24, of 5240 West Ninth St., Winona, died Saturday, April 6, 2002 at his home.
He was born October 2, 1977 in Merced, Cal., to James P. and Sharon M. (Katula) Lancaster.
His favorite activities were drawing, video games, movies and fishing.
He is survived by his parents, Sharon Lancaster of Winona and James Lancaster of Modesto, Cal., a daughter, Janelle Nichols; maternal grandparents, Tony and Shirley Katula of Bluff Siding, Wis., his soul mate, Pamila Rolbiecki of Eagan, Minn.; and aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Forrest and Wilma Lancaster.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Tuesday, April 9, at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church with Rev. Daniel R. Dernek officiating.
Pallbearers were Anthony Katula, Jr., Richard Katula, Dan Katula, Ray Katula, Jeremy Katula and Cutter Henderson.

Niemeyer, Roy George
Roy George Niemeyer, 87, Rollingstone, Minn., passed away suddenly on Sunday, April 7, 2002.
He was an employee of Warner & Swasey Co., retiring in 1977. Prior to that he was employed by Bay State and Quality Chevrolet.
He was born November 13, 1914 in Homer, Minn., to Henry and Wilhelmina Winterfelt Niemeyer. He attended school in Homer Township and received a degree from Auto Mechanics School in Scranton, Penn.
Roy served in the Armed Forces for four years starting in September 1942. Most of those years were spent in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
He married Bernita Brommerich on September 20, 1941, at Wilson Lutheran Church in Wilson, Minn. He was a member of St. Martin's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife; one son, William (Sandy) of Rollingstone; two daughters, Barbara (Ron) Buege and Clara (Dale) Newcomb, both of Winona; a sister-in-law, Nellie Niemeyer of Winona; nine grandchildren, Richard and Russell Buege, Tammy, Tim, Michelle (Newcomb) Brill and Michael Newcomb, Janelle, Jamie and Jody Niemeyer; and seven great-grandchildren, Jaymi Buege, Sophia Newcomb, Jacey and Jorden Niemeyer, Dylan, Tristan and Kaylee Niemeyer.
Roy was preceded in death by eight brothers and two sisters.
He enjoyed playing the banjo with his brothers in the Valley Cowboys, working on motors, gardening, playing cards with friends, fishing and hunting, woodworking, and special visits from his grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 11, at St. Martin's Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Timothy Dost officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, with military rites provided by Leon J. Wetzel American Legion Post No. 9.
Active casketbearers will be his grandsons, Richard and Russell Buege, Tim and Michael Newcomb, and Jamie and Jody Niemeyer.
Honorary bearers will be his granddaughters, Tammy Newcomb, Michelle Newcomb Brill, and Janelle Niemeyer.
Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Martin-Myhre Funeral Home and after noon Thursday at the church. Devotional services will be at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Hove, Virgil
Virgil Hove, 82, of St. Charles, Minn., died Thursday, April 4, 2002 at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minn.
Virgil was born December 4, 1919 in Spring Valley, Wis., to Ole and Judith (Fredine) Hove.
He lived with his family in Spring Valley, Red Wing and Staples, Minn. In 1945 he moved to St. Charles. Virgil served the Army Military Police during World War II, stationed in Michigan and Illinois.
He and Mary Bailey were married July 2, 1948 in Rochester.
Virgil owned Hove Dray Line and worked for Gedde Furniture of St. Charles for 12 years. He later worked as a janitor in the St. Charles Public Schools for 18 years, retiring in 1984.
He is a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church, the American Legion since 1945, and had formerly served on the Legion's Firing Squad. He was also a member of the Lions Club, all of St. Charles.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; two brothers, Eldon (Rose) Hove of Lewiston, Minn. and Merle (Margaret) Hove of Coatsville, Penn.; two sisters, Marie Louise (Lewis) Balcome and Judith Kruempel, both of St. Charles; a sister-in-law, Josephine Hove of Staples; and many nieces and nephews.
His parents and a brother, Bill preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 14 at Faith Lutheran Church with Pastor Ramie Bakken officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery in St. Charles. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at Hoff Funeral Home's - St. Charles Chapel. They may also call one hour before services at the church.
The St. Charles American Legion will present military graveside honors.

Palmer, Evelyn
Private family services for Evelyn Palmer, 90, of Gillette, WY., were Monday, April 8, 2002 at Hoff Funeral Home - St. Charles Chapel, with Rev. Ramie Bakken of Faith Lutheran Church officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery in St. Charles.
Mrs. Palmer was born February 13, 1912 in St. Charles to Herbert and Martha (Theil) Ketchum. She married Glenn Palmer on June 25, 1929 in St. Charles.
They lived in rural St. Charles until moving to California in 1947. They returned to St. Charles in 1978. She then moved to Gillette in 1997.
Survivors include two sons, Glenn Palmer of Fort. Smith, Ark., and Gene Palmer of Gillette; a daughter, Elinor (Joe) Mueller of St. Charles; fifteen grandchildren; forty great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn on August 21, 1993 and a half sister.
Memorials can be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
