Richey, Harland L.

Harland L. Richey, 91, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2002 at Community Memorial Hospital, Winona.

Harland and his wife, Edith moved to Winona from Brainerd, Minn. on May 21, 2001. He stayed at St. Anne Hospice while Edith resided at the Kensington Apartments.

He is survived by his wife, Edith Richey; one son, David (Margaret) Richey; one daughter, Janice (Arne) Dufseth; and three grandchildren, James (Kris) Dufseth, Jessica (Jeffrey) Hosch, and Jeffrey Dufseth, all of Winona.

Funeral services were held Thursday, April 25 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Litchfield, Minn. Interment was at the Ripley Cemetery in Litchfield.

Rost, Mildred Bertha

Mildred Bertha Rost, 85, of Lewiston, Minn., died Wednesday, April 24, 2002 at the Lewiston Villa.

Mildred was born October 27, 1916 in Star Prairie, Wis., to Adolph and Helena (Prigge) Luehmann. As a young girl she moved with her family to Lewiston. Mildred and Alfred Rost were married June 1, 1940 at Lewiston.

The couple made their home in Madison, Wis. until returning to Lewiston in 1948. In 1973 they moved to Minot, ND, then to Hackensack, Minn. in 1977. Mr. Rost worked as a federal meat inspector for many years. He died August 12, 1984. Mrs. Rost returned to Lewiston in 1986. She worked as a clerk for 15 years for the former Nusloch Groceries in Lewiston.

She was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Lewiston.

Survivors include four grandchildren, Larry (Sara) Bohnen, Jr., Randall Bohnen, Natalie Bohnen, and Jay Voorhees; two great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Larry Bohnen of Billings, Mont.; a sister-in-law, Luella Luehmann; a niece and several nephews.

In addition to her husband, two daughters, Karen Voorhees and Mary Ann Bohnen, a son, Richard and a brother, Ralph Luehmann have died.

Memorial services were Tuesday, April 30 at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Lewiston with Revs. David A. Fisher and Michael A. Lindemann officiating. Burial of her cremated body was in St. John's Cemetery in Lewiston.

Memorials are preferred to St. John's Church or the Lewiston Villa.

Hoff Funeral Home's - Lewiston Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.

Bork, Helen P.

Helen P. Bork, 85, of Fountain City, Wis., died Sunday, April 28, 2002 at Winona Community Memorial Hospital.

She was born October 19, 1916 in Buffalo County, Wis. to William and Barbara (Moore) Hunger. She married George R. Bork on November 7, 1933 in Fountain City. He died April 13, 1989.

Helen and her husband farmed for many years in the Fountain City area where she continued to live after his death.

She was a member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart Parish.

Survivors include a son, Mike (Shirley) Bork of Fountain City; three daughters, Jean (Gaylord) Servais and Marlene (Mark) Rolbiecki, both of Fountain City, and Jan (Norm) Knott of Cochrane, Wis.; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; a brother, Lloyd (Esther) Hunger of Winona; and a sister-in-law, Jennie Hunger of Winona.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a granddaughter, a great-grandson and two brothers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Wednesday, May 1, 2002 at 2:30 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart with Rev. Shawn T. Haremza officiating. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Friends may call Wednesday from 1 p.m. until time of Mass at the church.

Pallbearers will be Jeff, Steve and Richard Bork, David and Dennis Servais, and John Przybylski.

Bicker, Doris Helen

Doris Helen Bicker, age 79, of Winona, died on Saturday, April 6, 2002 at Community Memorial Hospital, Winona.

Doris was born on October 24, 1922 in Winona, to John and Pelagia (Perszyk) Ma Losh. On May 10, 1958, she married Clarence "Butch" L. Bicker in Winona. He preceded her in death on June 18, 1998.

She lived in the Winona area her entire life. Doris worked as a press operator for Leicht Press, then as a machine operator for Boelter Industries, retiring in 1981.

She was a member of Goodview Trinity Lutheran Church, Goodview, MN.

She is survived by a sister Rita Houser Burch of Fountain City, WI and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 10, 2002 at 11:00 AM at Goodview Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Tony Hansen, officiating. Interment will be at Witoka Cemetery, Witoka, MN.

Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday, one hour prior to the service.

Funeral arrangements are being completed by the Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Winona.

Heer, Jeanne M.

Jeanne M. Heer, 73, died Monday, April 8, 2002 at Winona Community Memorial Hospital.

Jeanne was born August 20, 1928 in Winona, to Roman and Gertrude (Martin) Kauphusman. On August 19, 1950 she married Robert J. Heer in Winona.

Jeanne was an accounting clerk with Wincraft for 25 years. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart Church and the Catholic Daughters. She enjoyed traveling and taking bus trips with her husband, Bob.

Survivors include Jeanne's husband, Robert; sons, Thomas (Sally) Heer of St. Paul, Minn., and Kenneth (Terry) Heer of Minneapolis, Minn.; daughter, Donna (Thomas) Paige of Golden Valley, Minn.; grandchildren, Taylor and Margaret Kephart, Donald, Katherine, Christopher, Russel, Rachel, Thomas and Rebecca Heer; brothers, Robert (Loraine) Kauphusman of Jamestown, ND, Richard (Pat) Kauphusman of Chippewa Falls, Wis., John (Mary) Kauphusman of Rochester, Minn., Rick (Kathy) Kauphusman of St. Paul, Minn., and Jim (Nancy) Kauphusman of Winona; sisters, Mary (Ralph) Drake of Stevens Point, Wis., Luanne Haun of Winona, Margaret Cieminski of Oklahoma City, Okla., Rita Eckstrom of Dunkirk, NY, and Barbara (John) Weinberger of Winona.

Her parents, a son, Donald, and a brother, Donald preceded her in death.

A Funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday, April 11 at 10 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart with Rev. John Sauer officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call at Hoff Funeral Homes - Burke Winona Chapel on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. where there will be a Christian Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m.

Friends may also call one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

Pallbearers will be Jeanne's nephews.

Rohn, Barbara M.

Barbara M. Rohn, 263 West Mill Street, died Monday, April 8, 2002 at Community Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Tamarack Valley in Arcadia Township, Wis., to Stanley and Catherine (Rossa) Kamrowski.

She married James M. Rohn on September 1, 1952 in St. Thomas Pro-Cathedral in Winona.

She was a member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart Parish in Winona.

Survivors include her husband, James of Winona; four children, Dick Rohn, Peggy (Mark) Kujak, Rocky Rohn and Brenda Rohn, all of Winona; seven grandchildren, Danielle, Janae and Tyler Rohn, Katrina, Karissa, Kassandra and Kyle Kujak; two sisters, Pearl Ann Morton and Cecelia Prochowicz, both of Winona; and three brothers, Sylvester (Vivian), Albert (Lorraine) and Alphonse "Joe" Kamrowski, all of Arcadia, Wis.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and two infant brothers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Friday, April 12, at 2 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Shawn T. Haremza officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Pine Creek, Wis.

Friends may call Thursday from 6-9 p.m. at Watkowski-Pronschinske Funeral Home and again on Friday at the church from 1 p.m. until time of the Mass. A Christian Wake Service will be held Thursday at 8 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Charles Kamrowski, Marty Kamrowski, Steve Kaczorowski and John "Jackie" Gabrych.

In loving memory of our wife, mother, grandmother and mother-in-law: She loved her grandchildren, loved to play bingo and she loved to have a yard sale. She was an extremely hard worker, had a kind and gentle heart and we will miss her so much. You are in our prayers, our hearts and our thoughts.

Olness, Manvel L.

Manvel L. Olness, 93, of Rushford and formerly of St. Charles, Minn., died Sunday, April 7, 2002, at Winona Community Memorial Hospital in Winona, Minn. Manvel was born on August 3, 1908, in Arendahl Township of Fillmore County to John L. and Bertha (Hermanson) Olness. He attended Peterson School until staying home to work on the family farm. Manvel married Margaret Johnson on January 2, 1932. Manvel and Margaret farmed in Saratoga Township, south of St. Charles for many years. They retired to St. Charles in 1972.

Margaret died in 1987. Manvel was a member of the North Prairie Lutheran Church in rural Lanesboro. He enjoyed fishing, carpentry and upholstery work. He is survived by one son: Curtis (Elsie) Olness of San Angelo, Texas; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; three sisters: Berdine Highum, Olive (Palmer) Peterson, and Evelyn (Ron) Bremseth all of Rushford. He was preceded in death by his wife; one son, Dale; three brothers: Maynard, Conrad, and Joseph. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, at the North Prairie Lutheran Church in rural Lanesboro with the Rev. Karen Grandall officiating. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Hoff Funeral Homes ­ Rushford Chapel and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.
