Heaser, Margaret K.
Margaret K. Heaser, 88, of Sauer Memorial Home, Winona, died Tuesday, January 9, 2001 at the home.
She was born December 28, 1912 in Bethany, Minn., to Nicholas and Matilda (Frommes) Burbach. She married Harold F. Heaser in September 1932 in Elba, Minn. He died in 1979.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Winona.
Survivors include four children: Rosella Lewinski of Winona, Kathryn (Albert) Stanek of Winona, John (Sharon) Heaser of Kellogg, Minn., and Elizabeth Heaser of LaCrosse, Wis.; twelve grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a great-grandchild and two sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Thursday, January 11, at 2:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Keefe officiating. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Oak Ridge.
Friends may call Thursday, one hour prior to the Mass at the Church Commons.
Pallbearers will be Mike Lewinski, Gary Stanek, Scott Heaser, Robert Thompson, Anthony Katula and Tom Grossell.

Putz, Hulda M.
Hulda M. Putz, 98, of St. Michael Lutheran Home, Fountain City, Wis., died Saturday, January 6, 2001 at the home.
She was born in Buffalo County, Wis. on October 29, 1902 to William and Friederike (Wischow) Sass. She married Harry F. Putz on November 22, 1923 in Fountain City. Together they farmed on Canada Ridge of Buffalo County until retiring in 1963, when they moved into Fountain City. Harry died December 21, 1978.
Hulda is a member of St. Michael Ev. Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid. She also served on the St. Michael Lutheran Home Auxiliary.
Survivors include children: Donald (Dorothy) Putz of Whitehall, Wis., Harry J. (Judy) Putz of Fountain City, Phyllis (Arden) Madsen of Clear Lake, Iowa, and Janice (Jon) Wogen of Olivia, Minn.; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Hulda was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Darwin, a daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Elton Suhr, a great-grandson, Joshua Suhr, three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services were Tuesday, January 9 at St. Michael Ev. Lutheran Church in Fountain City with Rev. Elroy V. Conradt officiating. Spring interment will be in Fountain City Public Cemetery.

Double, Eleanor M.
Eleanor M. Double, 80, Winona, died Thursday, May 10, 2001 at St. Anne Hospice.
She was born March 26, 1921 in Goderich, Ontario, Canada to Edwin and Florence (Gibbons) Nelson. She married Bernard Theodore Double of Stratford, Ontario, Canada on July 7, 1940. They celebrated their 60th anniversary last year.
Eleanor and Bernie lived in Stratford until 1950 when they emigrated to the United States and resided in Coral Gables, Florida until moving to Port Huron, Michigan in 1951, where they resided until they retired in 1979. They again moved back to Florida in 1980, residing in Clearwater until 1998 when they moved to Winona, residing at the Kensington apartments to be closed to family.
She is survived by her husband, Bernard of Winona; her son, Paul (Norma) of Winona; three grandsons, John Paul Double of Silver Bay, Minn., Eric Nelson (Amy) Double of Woodbury, Minn., and Matthew Matar Double of San Diego, Cal.; two great-granddaughters, Ariana and Elana Double of Woodbury; and several nieces and nephews in Canada and the UK.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Mrs. Frederic (Lorrane) Tweedie of Canada and Mrs. Nevelle (Leola) Williams of South Wales, UK.
After cremation, a family memorial service was held Saturday, May 12 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with Rev. Ernie Harrelson officiating. The remains were transferred to Stratford, Ontario, Canada for final placement.

Eichman, Dorothy L.
Dorothy L. Eichman, 88, formerly of 661 West Wabasha St., died Friday, May 11, 2001 at Winona Community Memorial Hospital.
She was born April 19, 1913 in Arcadia, Wis. to Steven and Mathilda (Stoecker) Glowczewski. She married Frank P. Eichman on April 28, 1937. He died March 25, 1980.
In her earlier years, Dorothy was employed at McConnon and Co.
She was a member of St. Casimir's Catholic Parish, Harvest House, Polish Museum and the Serra Club of Winona.
Dorothy is survived by many cousins and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Gerald, and a brother, Donald.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Tuesday, May 15, at St. Casimir's Catholic Church with Rev. James W. Hennessy and Msgr. Roy E. Literski officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Arcadia, Wis.
Pallbearers were Carl and Charles Glowcheski, Jim Stanislawski, Mike Herzberg, Scott Hurd and Ed Maliszewski.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the Serra Club of Winona.

Marnach, Alice Mary
Alice Mary Marnach, 95, of St. Charles, Minn., died Saturday, May 12, 2001 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home, Rushford, Minn.
Alice was born December 5, 1905 in rural St. Charles to Fred J. and Jessie (Christie) Kreckow.
She attended rural school through eighth grade in Winona County District #61. She graduated from St. Charles High School in 1924, and from Teachers' Training Institute in 1925. She taught in rural Winona County schools seven years. After two years at home helping her parents, she married Ernest Marnach on June 20, 1934. They farmed near Elba, Minn. for 40 years, moving to St. Charles in October 1974. Her husband died January 26, 1976. Alice entered Good Shepherd Home in 1998.
Survivors include four nieces, five nephews, and many great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence in 1980 and Clare in 1999, and an infant sister, Helen.
She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and the St. Charles Senior Citizens.
A Funeral Mass was offered Tuesday, May 15 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with Rev. James Callahan officiating. Burial was in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Elba.

Johnstone, Dorothy M.
Dorothy M. Johnstone, of St. Anne Hospice, died Friday, May 11, 2001 at the hospice.
She was born September 20, 1906 to Matilda Rambath and William E. Johnstone, and lived in Winona all her life.
She attended Winona schools, graduating from Winona Senior High School. She worked in the accounting department of Mississippi Valley Public Service Company, which later became Northern States Power Company, until her retirement in 1971.
Dorothy is a lifelong member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and had been active in the Women's Guild, the St. Elizabeth Guild, and the Altar Guild for many years. She was a former member of the Women's Auxiliary of Community Memorial Hospital, the Hiawatha Valley Audubon Society, the Winona County Old Settlers Association, and AARP. She also did volunteer work for different organizations.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, W. Frank and Harry Johnstone, and two sisters-in-law.
She is survived by nieces, Ruthe (Joe) Kowalsky of Winona and Norma (Bob) Applen of Burnsville, Minn., and a nephew, Bruce E. Johnstone of Fond du Lac, Wis. Several great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.
Funeral services were Monday, May 14 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with Rev. Ernest Harrelson officiating. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Casketbearers were Joe and Michael Kowalsky, Scott Johnstone, William and Tristan Keiper, and Larry Leibovich.
Memorials may be directed to St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

Murtinger, Victoria
Victoria Murtinger, 85, of the Watkins Home, died Sunday, May 13, 2001 at the home.
She was born August 23, 1915 in Penn, ND, the daughter of John and Clara Johnson Husie. She married Frank J. Murtinger on July 15, 1940 in Cresco, Iowa. He preceded her in death on March 17, 1978.
Victoria is survived by her sons, Kent Murtinger of Winona and Frank J. (Bonnie) Murtinger of Eagan, Minn.; two grandchildren, Sarah and Steven; and her older brother, Ken (Emma) Husie of Galesville, Wis.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents and younger brother, Clarence Husie.
A private family service was held at Woodlawn Cemetery.
