Leonard Merth, 92, of Wabasso, died on Thursday, July 8, 1999, at,Wabasso Health Care Center.
Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Wabasso with burial in the church cemetery with military honors by the Wabasso Legion Post 263.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m.today with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. and continues Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until time of service at the church. Nelson Funeral Service of Redwood Falls handling arrangements.
He is survived by children, Gretchen Fleck and husband Gerald of St. Paul and Gregory Merth and wife Jean of Crystal; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Anna on July 8, 1992; and sisters, Calverna and Shirley.
He was born June 11, 1907 to John and Mary (Smith) Mert in Wabasso. He graduated from Wabasso High School. On June 19, 1934 he married Anna Estella Sanford in Park Rapids. They lived in Wabasso where he was a salesman. He retired in 1972. He served in the Army during World War 11. He was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church. He was one of the founders of the Wabasso Museum and was a director on the Beneficial Society. He belonged to the Wabasso Legion.
Aljean Peterson, 62 of Winthrop, formerly of Gaylord died Friday, July 9, 1999 at the Glencoe Area Health Center.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Diane Gibbs-Larsen, 53 of Redwood Falls, Lower Sioux Community died Thursday, July 8, 1999 at her home.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the St. Cornelias Episcopal Church on the Lower Sioux Comunity with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 p.m. Friday until the service Saturday at the Social Hall adjoining the church. Sunset Funeral Home in Echo is handling funeral arrangements.
She is survived by daughters and son-in-law Tammy LaTurco and friend Larry Pitzl, Jr. of Wabasso, Terri Ann and John Lewandowski of Fairfield, Conn.; sons and daughter-in-law Gary LaTurco and Anne Blais, David Amaral-Larsen all of Redwood Falls; five grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law Dennis and Coleen Lothert of Morton, Chuck and Bev Larsen of Pine Ridge, S.D., Donny and Sharon Lothert of Danube, Rick and Sandy Pitts of Minneapolis, Hank and Resa Larsen of Vallejo, Calif., Jens "Chris" and Kimberly Larsen of Hesperia, Calif.; sisters and brothers-in-law Wanda Blue and Jim Day of the Lower Sioux Communtiy, Dodie Day of Minneapolis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; step-fathers Sylvester Lothert and Smokey Pitts; sister Sandy Lothert Goblirsch; brother Walter Larsen; significant other Michael.
She was born June 23, 1946 in Morton to Wilbur "Bud" and Bethal (Smith) Larsen. She grew up in the Morton area and attended public school there. She lived in California for a number of years before returning to the Lower Sioux Community in 1989, where she was a Pipe Carrier, a foster parent for a number of the tribe's children, and was active with the Lower Sioux Dance Troupe.
LaRoy H. Bode, 94, formerly of Nicollet, died Saturday, July 10, 1999 at Grandview Good Samaritan Center, St. Peter.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Nicollet, with burial in the church cemetery in Nicollet Township.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, Nicollet, and will continue Wednesday one hour prior to services at the church.
He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, LaDonna and Troy Shult of Winthrop, and Dianne and Robert Wolff of Lake City; son and daughter-in-law, Virgil and Evelyn Bode of Nicollet; 12 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma on Jan. 27, 1993; sisters, Agnes Thom and Ida Dallmann; brothers, Elmer, Wilbert, and Edgar Bode; and a grandson, Bradley Shult on Dec. 26, 1962.
He was born April 15, 1905, in Nicollet Township, to Louis and Martha (Reuss) Bode. He attended country school No. 29 in Nicollet Township and also Trinity Lutheran School, Nicollet. He married Alma Dallmann on Aug. 21, 1927 in Nicollet. They farmed in Nicollet Township until retiring in 1961, when they moved into Nicollet. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Nicollet.
Emma M. Drexler, 97, formerly of 21 S. Payne, died Saturday, July 10, 1999 at Lafayette Good Samaritan Center.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, New Ulm, with burial in the Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Harold and Marlyn, and Richard F. and Kathy, all of rural New Ulm; grandchildren, Jeffrey of New Ulm, Julie Parker of Knoxville, Tenn. and Lynette May and husband Merrill of Tulley, N.Y.; two great-grandchildren; sister Bertha Sellner of New Ulm; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Armin on April 2, 1976; sisters, Annie Gleisner and Mary Janni; brothers, Wenzel, Gust, Mike, Joe, John and Albert Kuehn; and one great-grandson in infancy.
She was born June 1, 1902, in Milford Township, Brown County, to Gustav and Barbara (Kolross) Kuehn. She married Armin Drexler in New Ulm. They lived in New Ulm. She became a resident of Lafayette Good Samaritan Center in June 1996. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, New Ulm.
Dailia Maria Anna Klabunde, 92, died Sunday, July 11, 1999, at St. John Lutheran Home, Springfield.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Springfield, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30-9 a.m. Wednesday at Sturm Funeral Home Chapel, Springfield, and will continue Wednesday one hour prior to services at the church.
She was survived by daughter Beverly and husband Arthur Rambow of Minneapolis; grandchildren, Gregory and wife Rambow of Coon Rapids, Gloria Singh of Brooklyn Park and Glenda and husband Joseph Collins of Cucamonga, Calif.; six great-grandchildren; and sisters, Lucille Martius, and Shirley and husband Gerald Moll, both of Springfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Carl in 1988; brothers, Marvin Kranz and Raymond Kranz; and sisters, Esther Timm, Clara Klabunde and Viola Hansen.
She was born Oct. 30, 1906, in Brookville Township, Redwood County, to Hugo and Martha (Schmidt) Kranz. She attended District 34 school in Brookville Township. She married Carl W. Klabunde on Jan. 15, 1925 in Springfield. The couple farmed in Brookville Township until moving to Springfield in October 1986. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Mary Martha Circle, Springfield Senior Citizens, Card Club, American Legion Auxiliary and a former member of the Brookville Community Club.
Kenneth Hess, 88, died Saturday, July 10, 1999, at New Ulm Medical Center Hospital.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church, Fairfax, with burial in Ft. Ridgely Cemetery, Ridgely Township, Nicollet County.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-8 a.m. Tuesday at Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel, Fairfax, and will continue Tuesday one hour prior to services at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline; sons, Dennis and wife JoAnn of Owatonna, and Gary and wife Becky of Fairfax; daughters, Barbara Heyer of Hutchinson, Linda Buboltz and husband Leon of Apple Valley, Lori Swezey and husband Robert of Hector, and Jill Nachreiner of Fairfax and her friend Ken Eckstein of Hector; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother Paul of Fairfax; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son Ronnie in 1967; daughter in infancy; and brothers, Dean, Harold, Donnie and Carl.
He was born April 27, 1911 in Ipswich, S.D., to William and Francise (Otz) Hess. He moved to Minnesota in the mid 1930s. He married Pauline Ryan on Nov. 5, 1938 in Norwood. After their marriage, they moved to Fairfax. He was employed for 27 years with the Renville County Highway Department. After he retired in 1976, he worked part-time for Ron Lieske at the gas station in Fairfax. He was a member of United Methodist Church, Fairfax.
Ruth Stockman, 87, died Saturday, July 10, 1999 at Glencoe Area Health Center.

She is survived by daughters, Almira Polzin of Glencoe, Arlene Torgerson of Glencoe, and Audrey Weber of Beaverton, Ore.; sons, Earl and wife Kathy of Hastings, Wayne and wife Carole of Burnsville, and Ron and wife Cheryl of Coal City, Ill.; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Gertrude Stockman of Winthrop and Lillian Perry of Stewart; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter Doris as an infant; sons-in-law, Vernon Polzin and James Weber; one sister and two brothers.
She was born Jan. 25, 1912 in Penn Township, McLeod County, to Herman and Bertha (Grewe) Uecker. She grew up in Penn Township, where she attended rural school. She married John H. Stockman on April 15, 1931 in Penn Township. They farmed in rural Stewart. She moved into Stewart in 1994. She entered Winthrop Good Samaritan Home on August 4, 1997. She was a member of the home Extension club and St. Paul's Lutheran Church and its WELCA.
Roger Brown, 60, of Mankato, died Friday, July 9, 1999, at Immanuel-St. Joseph Hospital.
Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Landkamer Johnson-Boman Funeral Home.
Visitation is two hours before the service.
Burial will be at Home Cemetery, Sleepy Eye.
He is survived by his wife, step-sons, Kern Licht and his wife Kathy of Round Lake, Bryce Licht of Gillette, Wyo.; stepdaughter, Julie Reynolds of Worthington; six stepgrandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; sister, JoAnn Mills and her husband John of Lake Crystal,; brother, Don Brown and his wife Judy of Sleepy Eye; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
He was born on July 27, 1938, to Paul and Agnes (Coubal) Brown in Franklin. He graduated from Franklin High School, where he participated in sports. In 1977 his family moved to Sleepy Eye. In 1978 he moved to Mankato. He was employed at various businesses Mankato Plating Co., Punch and Grow, Colonial Square and Cub's Chinese Restaurant. On Jan. 26, 1980, he married Betty Ann Licht. They lived in Mankato.
Ruth Taylor, 74 of Hendersonville, N.C. and formerly of Madelia, died at her home July 9, 1999.
Funeral services were held Monday in Hendersonville. A graveside service will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Madelia.
Local arrangements are being handled by Pilgrim funeral Home, Madelia.
She is survived by her husband; sons, Timothy of Surf City, N.C. and Samuel Jr. of Wilmington, S.C.; daughters, Sherry Kent of Charlotte, N.C. and Patricia Taylor of Granado, Ariz.; brother, Jim Loomis of Paynesville; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was born May 6, 1925, in Madelia to Barney and Eleanora (Baulch) Loomis. She grew up in Madelia. She graduated from Madelia High School in 1943. She attended the University of Minnesota and graduated with a degree in physical therapy. She married Samuel Taylor July 14, 1951 in Madelia. They lived in many places throughout the country, the last 10 years in Hendersonville.

She was preceded in death by her father; and grandson John.
She was born Sept. 14, 1936 in Brownton to Lawrence and Hertha (Senske) Peterson. She attended Gaylord Public School. She was a cook for Rays Recreation, and she was employed by Tonka Toys of Mound; the Young America Corp.; Hands, Inc., of Winthrop. She retired in 1998.
