Lloyd Donald Klemz

Lloyd D. Klemz, age 87 of Annandale died suddenly Friday, August 13, 2010 at his home.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 16, 2010 at Zion Lutheran Church, Annandale. Rev. Thomas Queck will officiate and burial will be in Corinna Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the service, Monday, both at the church. A prayer service will be held 7 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Lloyd Donald Klemz was born February 4, 1923 in Silver Creek to Charles and Ruth (Sheldon) Klemz. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving on the USS Louisville and the USS Darby. He was a part of the largest naval battle of World War II in the Pacific. His ship, a Heavy Cruiser, was hit twice by Japanese suicide bombers and Lloyd was hit by shrapnel in one of the explosions, earning him the Purple Heart. Lloyd was united in marriage to Hayde Kallunki on March 4, 1944 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Silver Creek. He worked as a railroad engineer for Burlington Northern Rail Road for 37 years, retiring in 1982.
Lloyd was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Annandale, the St. Cloud V.F.W. and the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed yard work, fishing, bowling, playing bingo, learning about WWII history, watching baseball and playing kickball with the grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Hayde of Annandale; daughter, Faye Klein of Maple Lake; daughter in law, Kathleen Klemz of Rice; sisters, Arlene Barnes and Gladys (Don) Ahsenmacher, both of Annandale; brothers, Neil (Fern) Klemz of Clearwater and Jack (Barbara) Klemz of South Haven; 5 grandchildren, Brad (Amy) Klemz, Paige (Jason) Ovick, Brooke James, Melanie Klein and Tony (Bonnie) Klein; 8 great grandchildren, Todd, Damien, Antonia, Hunter, Chris, Naomi, Melissa and Jessica. He is preceded in death by his son, Gary; grandson, Todd; son in law, Ronald “Archie” Klein; sisters, Iva Martinson, Vivian Bratsch, Lucille Venske and Judy Herzog; brothers, Merle “Bud”, Russell, Dayle and Marvin Klemz.
Pallbearers will be Tony Klein, Bradley Klemz, Todd Klemz, Jason Ovick, Steve Kallunki, Melissa Klein and Tamara Barnes. Diane Johnson will provide the music for the service. The Minnesota National Guard Honor Guard will provide the military honors for the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care, Annandale.

Stanley Harold Snabb

Stanley H. Snabb, age 85 of South Haven died Sunday, August 1, 2010 at Guardian Angels Care Center in Elk River.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Annandale. Pastor DJ Lura will officiate and burial will be in Our Saviour’s Lutheran Cemetery, French Lake Township. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale and one hour prior to the service, Wednesday at the church.
Stanley Harold Snabb was born March 21, 1925 in Bemidji, MN to Oscar and Jennie (Lindberg) Snabb. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. After Stanley’s service, he married Pearl Niemela in Minneapolis, where they lived until moving to South Haven in 1961. He worked for Minnesota Rubber in Minneapolis for many years. Stanley loved the outdoors, spending countless hours in his garden. He loved to grow flowers and tomatoes from seeds and give them away when they were large enough to be transplanted. Stanley also enjoyed fishing and listening to his music.
He is survived by his daughter & her husband, Carolyn & Dan Herrboldt of Ramsey; grandsons, Daniel Herrboldt, Jr. and Donovan Herrboldt (Raychel Korin); and great grandson, Michael Ray Herrboldt. He is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Jennie Snabb; brothers, Ernest, William, Everett and Clifford Snabb; sisters, Sadie Olson, Helen Lundeen, Evelyn “Auntie” Heikke and Hazel Dooley.
Pallbearers will be Donovan Herrboldt, Daniel Herrboldt, Jr., Hannah Snabb, Greg Snabb, Rodney Johnson and Jerry Finneman. Orma Lou Jacobsma will provide the music for the service. Military Honors will be provided by the Minnesota Army National Guard Honor Guard. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care, Annandale.

Karla Jean Bentrup

Karla J. Bentrup, age 57, of South Haven passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on August 21, 2010 at the St. Cloud Hospital after a prolonged illness.
Karla Jean Bentrup was born June 11, 1953 in St. Cloud to Onni and Myrtle (Mares) Kronquist. She graduated from Annandale High School in 1971 and for over 20 years was the office manager at the Annandale Eye Clinic and for the last several years for Leza B’s Cleaning Inc., in Buffalo. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and enjoyed gardening, snow shoeing, fishing, nature and being with family and friends.
She is survived by daughters, Toyna Cogan (Tom) and their children, McKenzie, Kyle & Marisa of Prescott, WI, Leza Bentrup (Mike Mendez) of Hudson, WI; close friend & companion, Al Golombiecki of Cokato; mother, Myrtle Kronquist of Annandale; sisters, Karen Lucht (Randy) of Hawley, Kim Kieves (Garry) of Minnetonka; sister-in-law, Margi Kronquist of Maple Lake; aunt, Loretta Johnson of Minneapolis; uncle, Merle Mares (Audrey) of Anoka; aunt, Sivia Newman of Elk River; mother in-law, Dorothy Bentrup of Annandale; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her father, Onni Kronquist, brother, Kevin Kronquist, and aunts, Adeline Repke & Grace Johnson.
Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. with Memorial Services held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at Zion Lutheran Church, Annandale with Rev. Thomas Queck officiating.
The urn bearer will be Mckenzie Cogan and the honorary pallbearers will be Michael and Tommy Kronquist, Christopher and Melissa Lucht and Shane and Eric Pitzl. The music will be provided by Craig Kroeger (married to Karla’s cousin, Faye Kroeger) and the arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.

Lois Amanda Yendrzeski

Lois A. Yendrzeski, age 83, of Annandale died Thursday, July 22, 2010 at the St. Cloud Hospital due to a vehicle accident.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 26, 2010 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Annandale with Fr. Richard Leisen officiating. Interment will be 2:00 p.m. Monday at Crystal Lake Cemetery, Minneapolis.
Lois Amanda Yendrzeski was born September 5, 1926 in Sioux City, Iowa to Orville Bernard and Angela Josephine (Brandt) Giese. She married Edward Joseph Yendrzeski on June 14, 1947 in St. Paul and after 44 years of marriage he preceded her in death on June 19, 1991. She lived in Minneapolis until moving to Maple Lake in 1985 and then Annandale in 2000. She was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church & the Council of Catholic Women and was a former member of St. Philip’s Catholic Church, Minneapolis & St. Timothy’s Catholic Church, Maple Lake.
She is survived by her sons Timothy (Shirley) of Annandale & Jeffrey of Minneapolis, sisters Irene (Donald) Jackson of Klamath Falls, OR, Florence Nyland of Menahga, Dorothy Nyland of Lakeville, brother Robert (Judy) Giese of Glencoe, 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward, daughter Patricia Hegland, sister Evelyn Schultz, and brother William Giese.
The music for the service will be provided by the St. Ignatius Music Ministry. The arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.

Nicholas William Greve

Nicholas W. Greve, age 26 of Richfield, formerly of Annandale died Sunday, August 1, 2010.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday August 5, 2010 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Annandale. Pastor Dave Nelson will officiate and burial will be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday at St. John’s and also one hour prior to the service. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Nicholas William Greve was born on July 6, 1984 in St Cloud to David and Sandra (Borgstahl) Greve. He graduated from Annandale High School in 2003 and from Gustavus Adolphus College in 2007 with a degree in accounting. He was employed as an auditor for Boulay, Heutmaker & Zibell in Eden Prairie. Nick enjoyed sports and was an outstanding athlete. He was a member of the Gustavus golf team and especially loved playing with his brothers, with whom he was exceptionally close. Spending time with family and friends was Nick's favorite past time, where his kindhearted manner and big smile was shared with all who knew him.
He is survived by his parents, Dave and Sandy of Annandale; two brothers, Ben Greve and his wife Lindsay Whalen of Minneapolis and Tim Greve of Richfield; grandfathers, William Greve of Gaylord and Dale Borgstahl of Faribault. He is preceded in death by his grandmothers, Gloria Greve and Norma Borgstahl.
Pallbearers will be Ben Greve, Tim Greve, Erik Tone, Brian Zard, John Underwood, Bobby Caldwell, Josh Olson and Dave Wray. Barbara Jacobson will provide the music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care, Annandale.

Elnora Jane Newman

Elnora J. Newman, age 87, of Double Springs, CA formerly of Los Angeles and Kimball died Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at the Kit Carson Nursing and Rehabilitation Home in Jackson, CA.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Funeral Services held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Kimball. Pastor Steve Rowland will officiate and burial will be at the Forest City Cemetery.
Elnora Jane Newman was born April 1, 1923 in Watkins, Minnesota to Arthur Gulso and Grace (Mayer) Gulso Magnuson. She married William Newman in 1947 and he preceded her in death in 1965. Elnora served her country in the U.S. Army conducting tours of the Smithsonian Institute for dignitaries. She worked as a beautician for 45 years, owning and operating three beauty salons in the Los Angeles, CA area. She was a member of Rebekah’s Lodge, enjoyed crafts, gardening, cats, and was an avid reader.
She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Newman of Double Springs, CA; sisters Vera Theisen of Annandale, Mavis Magnuson of Farmington; and brother, Irven Magnuson of Litchfield. She is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Grace; husband William; and brothers Wayne, Darrell & John Magnuson.

Valerian Henry Wessel

Valerian H. “Val” Wessel, age 77, of Buffalo died Monday, August 23, 2010 unexpectedly at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 27, 2010 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Annandale with Fr. Victor Valencia officiating. Burial will follow at St. Ignatius Catholic Cemetery, French Lake Township, Wright County. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale and one hour prior to services Friday at St. Ignatius Church. There will be a prayer service 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
Valerian “Val” Henry Wessel was born September 3, 1932 at Melrose to Edwin and Regina (Schmitz) Wessel. He was a 1951 graduate of Sauk Centre High School; then attended Dunwoody Institute and the University of Minnesota. He married Lila Rose Roehrl on April 27, 1957 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Melrose. Val was a packaging engineer working for General Mills in Golden Valley for 33 years. He was a member of St. Alphonsus Church, Brooklyn Center, St. George Church, Apache Junction AZ and St. Ignatius Church, Annandale. He coached baseball and basketball for his children’s and grandchildren’s teams. Val was a former member of the Kiwanis Club and enjoyed sports, fishing, gardening, shuffleboard, attending auctions and playing cards. He was a champion for everyone and would help in anyway he could all his life. Val also loved time spent with his wife, children and grandchildren. He was so loved and will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his wife Lila of Buffalo, daughter Jessica Chapman & her husband Pat of South Haven; son Steve Wessel & his wife Nancy Frendt of Chandler, AZ; grandchildren Breanna, James, Marina & Roman Chapman; step granddaughter Rachel (Todd) Whitaker; step great grandchildren Haley Bazzell & Payson Whitaker; brothers Garry (Roxanne) Wessel of Jordan, Alan (Barb) Wessel of Long Prairie; sister Mary (Gerald) Schleif of Little Falls; sister in law Mary Ann Wessel; brother in law Mike Kedrowski; and also many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother James Wessel; sister LaVonne “Toots” Kedrowski; and step grandson, Charlie Kunz.
The pallbearers will be Steve, Garry, Alan & Scott Wessel, Pat & James Chapman, Gerald Schleif and Godson Eddie Kedrowski. The music for the service will be provided by St. Ignatius Music Ministry and Jack & Ben Holthaus will be altar servers. The arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.

David Olson

David Olson, age 81, of Annandale died Sunday, May 9, 2010 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 14, 2010 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Annandale with Rev. DJ Lura and Rev. Dave Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale and on Friday one hour prior to services at the Church. There will be a prayer service 7 p.m. Thursday.
David Olson was born May 16, 1928 in Buffalo to David E. and Alvina E. (Kaduce) Olson. He was a member of the U.S. Army during the Korean War and married Betty A. Swingley on March 21, 1953 in Buffalo. He was a lineman and cable splicer for Lakedale Telephone Company for 40 years retiring in 1993. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where he did much volunteer maintenance work. He was a former part-time Annandale Police Officer and former member of the Annandale Fire Department. He enjoyed fishing, repairing small engines, and spending time with family & friends. He was a gentle giant of a man who loved people.
He is survived by his wife Betty of Annandale, sons Bruce of Kimball, Carl & his wife Judy of Newport News, VA, sister Lavone Pribyl & her husband Gordon of Maple Lake, grandchildren Jessica (Dan) Olson, James (Taffie) Olson, Matthew Bronstad, Brian (Lisa) Olson, and Michelle Olson, 4 step grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren.
The pallbearers will be Ricky Habisch, Dan Schmitz, Ron Mares, Scott Stoppleman, Fred Gunderson, and Jim Thurber. The music for the service will be provided by Mark & Ardis Nelson and Orma Lou Jacobsma. The arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.

Mary Elizabeth Hokkanen

Mary E. Hokkanen, age 97, formerly of Kimball and Annandale died Thursday, April 22, 2010 at St. Benedict’s Senior Community, St. Cloud.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at the Kimball United Methodist Church with Pastor Luke C. Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Redeemer Lutheran Cemetery, Kingston. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Kimball and one hour prior to services at the Church. There will be a prayer service 7 p.m. Monday. Memorials are preferred to the Kimball United Methodist Church.
Mary Elizabeth Hokkanen was born November 2, 1912 at Kingston to Karl Johan and Hanna Effina (Matsen) Saukkola. She was a 1932 graduate of Kimball High School and married Alfred Leonard Hokkanen on February 22, 1935 in Minneapolis; he preceded her in death on September 26, 1957. She was an insurance clerk for North Memorial Medical Center, Robbinsdale and later for the Heart of the Lakes Clinic, Annandale. She was a member of Kimball United Methodist Church and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, making craft items, and gardening.
She is survived by her five children & their spouses James & Bernice of Blanco, TX, Joan & Howard Fuchs of St. Cloud, Janet & David Linn of Albertville, Jerry & Vicki of San Antonio, TX, Jack & Marsha of Las Cruses, NM, sister Verna Dahnke of South Haven, 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, son in law Larry Robinson, grandchildren Gary Robinson, Jesse & Jordan Hokkanen, sisters & brothers Helen, Mabel, John, Eva, Evelyn, Karl, Arthur, George, and Robert.
The pallbearers will be granddaughters Dawn Marie Wiener, Jodie Meckle, Amy Peterson, Arielle Robinson, Jessica Hokkanen, & Jami Champagne. The music for the service will be provided by Joan Fuchs, Janet Linn, and Barb Root. The arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Kimball.

Raymond Stanley Carlson

Raymond S. Carlson, age 91, of Annandale, formerly of Maple Lake and Minneapolis died Monday, May 3, 2010 at the Annandale Care Center.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 6, 2010 at Zion Lutheran Church, Annandale. Rev. Thomas Queck will officiate and burial will be in Corinna Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service, Thursday at the church.
Raymond Stanley Carlson was born April 16, 1919 in Douglas, ND to Carl and Edith (Nelson) Carlson. He served his country with the Army Air Force during World War II in the 819 Bomber Squadron. He was married to Anna May Cherland in Highmore, SD on April 23, 1949. He farmed in South Dakota for 6 years before moving to Minneapolis in 1955. Ray worked as a custodian engineer for 20 years in the Minneapolis Public Schools, retiring in 1980. In retirement, Ray and Anna May moved onto Ramsey Lake in Maple Lake. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Annandale, the Zion Lutheran Fellowship Club, former member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Minneapolis and a member of the Maple Lake American Legion Post 131. Ray enjoyed woodworking and camping and especially loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Anna May; daughter and her husband, Gloria and Rev. Kenneth Tatkenhorst of Sedalia, MO; son and his wife, Clifford and Jerilyn Carlson of Bloomington; grandchildren, Paul, Lori and Leann; great grandchildren, Jacob, Ryan and David; brother, Carl Jr. “Bud” of Garrison, ND; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Carlson of Wolf Point, MT. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Edith; grand daughter, Carolee Tatkenhorst; sisters, Esther Sandell and Ruth Mamis; and brothers, Clifford, Elmer and Leonard.
Pallbearers will be Steve Steingraber, Dennis Carlson, Richard Carlson, Paul Tatkenhorst, John Wisecarver, Walter Calson and Melvin Buchheim. Rev. Kenneth Tatkenhorst will provide the music for the service. Military Honors will be provided by the Maple Lake American Legion Post 131 and the Minnesota National Guard. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care, Annandale, Minnesota.

Jerome Anthony Nistler

Jerome A. Nistler, age 86, St. Benedict’s Center, St. Cloud formerly of Kimball died Sunday, April 18, 2010 at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 22 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Pearl Lake with Fr. Jerry Nordick and Fr. Tom Knoblach officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9-10:15 a.m. Thursday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Kimball. There will be a prayer service 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Jerome Anthony Nistler was born January 11, 1924 at Eden Valley to Henry and Mathilda (Pelzer) Nistler. He served his Country as a member of the U.S. Army during WW II. He married Catherine Theresa Smith in Holy Cross Catholic Church on September 2, 1950 and she preceded him in death on January 31, 1998. They farmed in Maine Prairie Township, Stearns County and Jerome also was a food supervisor at the St. Cloud VA Medical Center for 26 years. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Pearl Lake Men’s Society, was a member of the Color Guard & lifetime member of St. Cloud VFW Post 428, and was a former member of the Kimball School Board District 739. Jerry loved to socialize, attend polka dances, polka Masses, church bazaars, and community festivals.
He is survived by his children Richard (Margaret) of St. Cloud, Debbie (John) Scheibel of Brooklyn Center, Michael (Jeanine) of Cold Spring, Kevin of Kimball, Dave of St. Cloud, Michele (Paul) Wolter of St. Cloud; brothers & sisters George (Jeannie) of St. Cloud, Evelyn (Eddie) Dockendorf of Cold Spring, Delphine Wirtzfield of Cold Spring, Donna (Larry) Dols of Brainerd, Ralph (Sharon) of St. Augusta, Mary Lou Tank of Minneapolis; and 13 grandchildren, Bryon Scheibel, Jacqueline Scheibel, Sara Nistler, Kati Nistler, Cristina Nistler, Kelly Nistler, Kristina Nistler, Gabrielle Nistler, Lori Wolter, Amy Wolter, Erin Wolter, Emily Wolter and Ashley Wolter. His wife and brothers Adrian & Norbert preceded him in death.
The pallbearers will be Jerome’s six children. The music for the service will be provided by Susan Kimman. St. Cloud VFW Post 428 and the Minnesota National Guard will provide the military honors for the service. The arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Kimball.
