Margaret Dyslin

Margaret E. Dyslin, 87 of Watertown died on Saturday, February 5, 2005 at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia. She was born October 23, 1917 to William and Helen (Heinrich) Husar in Chicago, Illinois.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Gordon L. Dyslin and parents William and Helen Husar. She is survived by her children - son Dr. Christopher and Carol Dyslin of Watertown and daughter Karen and Jake Dyslin-Jegelewicz of Sherwood Shores, Texas; grandchildren Maggie, Cora, Gordon and Mary Dyslin of Watertown, Todd and Rachel Lueke of McKinney, Texas, Jason and Julie Vetterick of Sugarland, Texas and Deidre Vetterick of McKinney, Texas; great grandchildren Chase and McKenna Lueke of McKinney and Austin, Grant and Jake Vetterick of Sugarland.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, February 8 at 1 p.m. at the St. Mary of Czestochowa Catholic Church in rural Delano. Visitation took place from 12 to 1 p.m. at the church on Tuesday. Reverend Joseph Gallatin officiated at the Mass. A private family interment service will take place in Chicago on Thursday, February 10.

Viggo Frederiksen

Viggo E. Frederiksen, 93 year old resident of Buffalo, MN, died Friday, February 4th at Lake Ridge Care Center in Buffalo.
A memorial service was held at 3:00 P.M. Monday, February 7th at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the chapel.
Music was provided by Lorraine Wolff on the organ and Miranda Paulson as soloist, singing "Go Light Your World." Other special music included "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" and "What A Wonderful World." Congregational hymns were "Just As I Am" and "How Great Thou Art."
Viggo Edward Frederiksen was born on August 17, 1911 in Hope Township, Lincoln County near Tyler, Minnesota. He grew up on a farm near Tyler and graduated from Tyler High School. He later graduated from Mankato State University.
He was united in marriage to Wilma Krause on August 15, 1942 in Luverne, MN. The couple lived in a number of towns in Minnesota throughout their marriage. Viggo was an elementary school teacher in many of the towns. While living in Garvin he was the postmaster, grocery store owner and elementary teacher. He continued his teaching career in Bigelow, Petersburg, Hardwick and Balaton. He also served as the elementary principal in Hardwick.
Following his career in education, he and his wife moved to Jackson and later to Buffalo where he worked as a tax consultant. Viggo was involved in many activities including Boy Scout Leader, basketball coach, gardening, hobby farming, camping and fishing. He was also a member of the U.S. Air Force Ground Observer Corps. He attended Faith Community Church in Buffalo.
Survivors include his: wife Wilma Frederiksen of Buffalo; children: Dale V. (Sharon) Frederiksen of St. Francis, Karen G. (John) Deitering of Buffalo, Gene A. (Susan) Frederiksen of Hillsboro, OR, Judy D. (James) Brandenburg of Ely, Gerald C. Frederiksen of Vadnais Heights; 14 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren; sister-in-law: Sadie Frederiksen of Elkton, SD.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lavonne L. Frederiksen; brothers, Frode, Herluf, Aage & Axel; sisters, Agnes Goudy, Eva Andersen & Valborg Domek.
The Peterson Chapel of Buffalo served the family.

Carol Firkins

Carol Ann Firkins, 62 of Monticello passed away at her daughter's residence in rural Buffalo on Saturday, February 5, 2005. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 8, 2005 at 1 p.m. at Resurrection Lutheran Church of Monticello with Pastor Bob Rusert officiating. There was a private interment. Visitation was held Monday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel of Monticello, and also one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Tuesday. Funeral arrangements are with the Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel of Monticello.
Carol was born on August 11, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois to Chester and Caroline (Yedinak) Nowak. She grew up on the Iron Range of northern Minnesota. She lived for a time in Hawaii, and then returned to Minnesota. She had most recently made her home in Monticello for the past two years, and was currently working in the finance department for the City of Monticello. She was a member of the Monticello Women of Today, and Resurrection Lutheran Church of Monticello.
She is survived by son Thomas Forward (and April Davis); two daughters Maryanne (Tony) Forward Rehbein, Julie (Craig) Forward Kasa; and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Wallace Gibson

Wallace A. Gibson, 82 of Delano died on Friday, February 4, 2005 at the Delano Health Care Center in Delano. He was born January 19, 1923 to Joseph and Emma (Tranel) Gibson.
Wallace grew up and lived in East Dubuque, Illinois, moving his family to Delano, Minn. He was a longtime machinist for ADC Telecommunications.
Wallace was preceded in death by his wife Lillian; his parents Joseph and Emma; sisters Helen O'Brien and Arlene Consella and brothers Lowell and Gordon Gibson. He is survived by his son Mark and grandsons William and Benjamin.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 11 at the St. Peter Catholic Church in Delano. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Iten Funeral Home in Delano. A prayer service will take place at 7 p.m. on Thursday. Visitation will continue on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Reverend Michael Miller will officiate with music provided by the Resurrection Choir.
A private family interment will be in East Dubuque, Illinois.

Otto Gruenhagen

Otto Gerald Gruenhagen was born December 15, 1921 near Howard Lake, Minn. the son of Otto and Lillian (Glenz) Gruenhagen. A lifelong member of St. James Lutheran Church, Howard Lake, he was baptized on January 18, 1922 by Reverend A.L. Oetjen and confirmed in his faith on April 16, 1935 by Reverend C.G. Seltz.
On February 26, 1954 Otto was united in marriage to Dorothy Carlen at St. James by Reverend Theo Melinat. They were blessed with six children and made their home and living on the Gruenhagen family farm north of Howard Lake. Otto farmed his whole life until retirement while also working for about 25 years as a heavy equipment mechanic. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 49 Union. As a member of St. James Church he served as an elder and was a member of the men's morning Bible study group. Several year ago Otto and Dorothy moved into an apartment at Cokato Manor with Dorothy recently moving to Burns Manor at Hutchinson.
On January 28, 2005 while at the Hutchinson Hospital, Otto Gruenhagen was granted his eternal rest having reached the age of 83 years, 1 month and 13 days.
Otto was preceded in death by his parents Otto and Lillian Gruenhagen; son Dwight Carlen; son-in-law Jerry Hugo; brother Kenny Gruenhagen; infant granddaughter Angela Carlen and an infant great granddaughter Amelia Feigum.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy of Hutchinson; children Barb and Don Lambert of Riverton, Wyoming, Gerald and Connie Gruenhagen of Howard Lake, Kathy and Les Steffes of St. Cloud, Susie and Joe Snyder of St. Cloud and Janet Hugo (and fiancee Tim LePage) of Dassel.
He is further survived by his daughter-in-law Janet and Mike Ewert of South Haven; 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held February 2 at St. James Lutheran Church, Howard Lake with Reverend Michael Nirva and Reverend Martin Schoenfeld officiating. Marge Stueven was the soloist and Nancy Butterfass served as organist. Interment was at the Howard Lake Cemetery.
Pallbearers were his grandson Joe Carlen; son-in-law Don Lambert; grandson Calvin Hugo; son-in-law Les Steffes; son-in-law Joe Snyder and friend Bob Berg.
Honorary pallbearers were also grandsons, Derek Steffes, Chet Snyder and Matthew Gruenhagen.
The Swanson - Peterson Funeral Home of Howard Lake served the family.

Elizabeth Olson

Elizabeth "Betty" Olson, 82 of Watertown died on Wednesday, February 2, 2005 at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia. She was born July 8, 1922 to Joseph and Rosalia (Ewalt) Dolney in Badger, Minnesota.
Betty was a longtime employee of the J.R. Clark Company. She retired after working for Advance Machines after a period of years.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Earl as well as two brothers and five sisters.
She is survived by her children - daughter Judy and Steve Lawless; sons Larry and Brenda Dolney and Erlin "Oly" Olson; 8 grandchildren - Suzanne Peters, Jamie Lawless, Kellie Lawless, Renee Krueger, Jeffrey Dolney, Kristine Marchione, Tamara Serrano and Sandra Buyense; 17 great grandchildren; sisters Monica Mrozek, Della Womack and Cecelia Adamski and brother Ted Dolney.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, February 5 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown. Visitation was held from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at the church on Saturday. Reverend Frank Wampach officiated with interment in the church cemetery. Casket bearers were Betty's grandchildren.

Lloyd Maas Sr.

Lloyd John Maas Sr., 76, formerly of Rockford died Friday, January 28, 2005 at The Mission Nursing Home in Plymouth.
He was born on March 28, 1928 in Maple Plain the son of Charles and Annie Schultz Maas.
Lloyd was baptized at St. Boniface Church in St. Bonifacius.
In October of 1947, Lloyd J. Maas and Viola Otto were joined in holy marriage at the Church of St. Peter in Delano. Viola preceded him in death in 1966.
Lloyd farmed for many years north of Rockford. He also formerly worked as a bricklayer for Lund-Martin and later at Winkelman Construction Company.
He enjoyed his grandchildren, loved the out-of-doors, fishing, hunting, traveling and walking.
Survived by ten children: Lloyd Maas Jr. of Maple Lake, Kathy Krone of Lester Prairie, Gary Maas of Hewitt, Susan DeMars of Winsted, Cecelia Kottke of Princeton, Kevin Maas and Brenda Elliott both of Maple Lake, Becky Huhn of Buffalo, Bonnie Maas and Bob Maas of Cambridge; 37 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren; special friend Katie Hoffman; sisters Valerie Wright of Delano, Lucille Styrbicky of Rockford, Delores Poliwoda, Joyce Otto and Donna Leick all of Delano and Janice Van Lith of Buffalo; brothers Leon Maas and Russ Maas both of Delano; many other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife Viola, Lloyd was preceded in death by a son Mike Maas in 1972 and by his parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Lloyd Maas Sr. was held on Wednesday, February 2 at 11 a.m. at the Church of St. Peter in Delano. Father Michael J. Miller was the Celebrant and interment followed at Calvary Cemetery.
Friends called on Tuesday, February 1 from 4-8 p.m. at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo.
Honorary Casket bearer was Eric Maas.
Casket bearers were Tom DeMars, Christy Maesse, Clayton Kottke, Mike Maas, Tom Maas and Dan Maas.
The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo served the family.

Marge Ottenstroer

Marge A. Ottenstroer, 73 of Annandale died Saturday, February 5, 2005 at her home near Sugar Lake.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 8 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Annandale with Father Victor Valencia officiating. Interment at St. Timothy's Catholic Cemetery, Maple Lake. Friends called from 4-8 p.m. Monday and 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale. There was a prayer service at 7 p.m. Monday.
Marjorie Ann Ottenstroer was born June 7, 1931 at Howard Lake to Morris V. and Edna M. (Bakeberg) Lemieux. She married John H. Piram on June 30, 1951 and he died on July 27, 1975. She married Russell F. Ottenstroer on September 17, 1983 in Buffalo.
Along with being a homemaker she stayed very active during her lifetime. She and her first husband owned and operated John and Marge's Tavern in Buffalo from 1954-1964. She was a carton designer for St. Regis Paper and Liberty Carton, was a waitress 13 years for the Mill Creek Inn at Buffalo along with assisting her second husband, Russell on the farm, and most recently worked for Bernatello's Pizza, Maple Lake, retiring one year ago. She was a member of St. Ignatius Church, Council of Catholic Women, Sam's Quilters, Maple Lake VFW Post #7664 Auxiliary, Buffalo American Legion Post #270 Auxiliary, and also volunteered for Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed quilting, embroidery, canning, gardening, fishing, and caring for her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Russell of Annandale; children William J. (Cindy) Piram of Annandale, Pamela A. (Curtis) Stuhr of Maple Lake, Carla R. (Mike) Huro of Annandale; brothers James (Mavis) of Maple Lake, Basil of Arizona, Steve (Pam) of Maple Lake; and 10 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband; infant daughter Cathy Marie Piram; brother Gordon and sisters Charlotte Lemieux and Beatrice Opat.
The pallbearers were Curt and Eric Stuhr, Garrett Stumpf, Matt Piram, Les Lemieux and Greg Opat. The honorary pallbearers were Jacob, Rachelle and Stefanie Piram, Meagan and Cassey Huro and Angie Stuhr. Sarah Goelz provided the music for the service.
The arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.

Baby Nathaniel Leon Rasset

Shane and Mandy Rasset of Springfield, Minn. announce the birth of their beautiful baby, Nathaniel Leon.
Born on February 2, 2005. He stayed long enough to touch our hearts before he passed away the same day.

Ellsworth Roner

Ellsworth T. Roner, 89 of Mt. Olivet Careview Home, formerly of S. Mpls. died on January 31, 2005 at North Memorial Medical Center, Robbinsdale, Minn. He was born November 25, 1915 in Strandquist, Minn.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was an auto mechanic during his working years.
Preceded in death by son Clarie; parents Theodore and Marie; brothers Kenneth and Rudolph; sisters Hazel Hedman and Florence Blackwell. Survived by daughter Connie Fedick (John); granddaughter Joy Fedick; brother Jonney; special friend Lemas Hedlund; other relatives and friends.
Graveside service will be held Thursday, Feb. 10 at 1 p.m., Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, 494 and 34th Ave. S., Minneapolis. Meet at assembly area #2.
