Gary Ritari, 64
Gary Clarence Ritari, age 64, of rural Buffalo passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 11, 2011.
He was born on May 27, 1946 in Wadena, Minnesota.
Gary and Elizabeth Kent were joined in holy matrimony. God blessed their marriage with three children.
Gary was a decorated Vietnam veteran serving in the United States Navy 1964-1968 as a Marksman supporting ground operations and a military policeman. From 1969 to 1996, Gary worked as a Police Officer for the Minneapolis Police Department, retiring as a decorated veteran with 27 years of Police Service. He spent the rest of his career in public service to the City of Minneapolis, Hennepin County, and the State of Minnesota. At the time of his death, Gary was the Manager of Intellectual Properties for the State of Minnesota. He dedicated his life to public service.
Gary enjoyed his farm and working the land. His cows and his tractors gave him hours of enjoyment. Most of all, he got great joy from his eleven grandchildren, who provided him endless entertainment. He generously shared the stories of interaction and love for them all.
Survived by his loving wife: Elizabeth "Betty;" a son: John (Jeni Becker); daughters: Tammy Steil (Peter) and Jennifer Cameron (Douglas); brothers: Douglas, Daniel (Jeanne) and Richard; sisters: Judy Boyd (Dennis), Sharon Mason (Ron) and Alice Hanson (K.C.); eleven grandchildren: Jeffrey and Matthew Steil, Megan, Michael, Janell, Nicholas, Christopher, and Alexander Ritari, Jack, Gary, and Joseph Cameron; many loving nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Gertrude Ritari and in-laws Jack and Velma Kent.
Funeral services for Gary Ritari were held on Monday, May 16th at 10:00 A.M. at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo. Police Chaplain Jeff Stewart officiated. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery on Monday May 16th at 1:00 P.M.
A visitation was held on Sunday, May 15th from 3-8 P.M. at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo. Further visitation was held on Monday one hour prior to services.
Honorary Casket Bearers were Steve Kulzer and Bill McNamara.
Casket Bearers were grandsons: Jeff Steil, Matt Steil, Jack Cameron, Michael Ritari; brothers: Douglas Ritari, Daniel Ritari and Richard Ritari and friend: Maurice Melchert.
The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo served the family.
Jeanette Ahlm, 81
Jeanette I. Ahlm, age 81 of Buffalo died Sunday morning, August 14, 2011 at North Memorial Residential Hospice in Brooklyn Center, following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on December 10, 1929 in Maple Plain, the daughter of Oscar and Lila Braun Magnuson.
On May 5, 1951 Gerald L. Ahlm and Jeanette I. Magnuson were joined in holy marriage at The Presbyterian Church in Maple Plain. God blessed their marriage with a son David.
Jeanette was employed by Federal Land Bank in Buffalo as well as a legal secretary for the Johnson, Johnson and Douglas Law Firm of Buffalo and West Law Office of Buffalo.
She was a faithful lifelong member of The United Methodist Church in Buffalo.
Jeanette enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandson and her many neighbors. Jeanette and Jerry enjoyed golfing, gardening, camping and traveling.
Survived by loving son David Ahlm and his partner Teri Holgate; grandchildren Jennifer Ahlm Mueller (Andrew), Patrick Ahlm, Nicholas Ahlm, their mother Andrea Ahlm, and great-grandson TY Harvey Ahlm. Also survived by in-laws Roger (Marlene) Ahlm, Beverly Wolfsteller, Adrian Luoma, and Judy Miller, and Helen Magnuson.
Proceeded in death by her loving husband Gerald Ahlm, parents Oscar and Lila Magnuson, and brother Warren Magnuson.
Memorial Services for Jeanette I. Ahlm were held Tuesday, August 16, at 11:00 a.m. at The United Methodist Church in Buffalo. Visitation took take place at 10:00 until the time of the service. Pastor Kent Felska officiated.
Interment at Pelican Lake Methodist Cemetery followed the service.

Breckon Berent, infant
Breckon James Berent, 2 month old son of Tarra and Dan, died unexpectedly on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at his home in Montrose. He was born June 4, 2011 in St. Louis Park.
Our shining star in Heaven watching over us. Breckon was preceded in death by his great-grandparents Gerald Kust and Jewel Embry. He is survived by his parents, sisters Gabi and Peyton; grandparents Twyla (Ken) Kronschnabel, Brenda (Tom) Berent, Tom Embry; great-grandparents Geneva (Hub) Kolar, Leo (Shirley) Kronschnabel, Marvin Embry, Marilyn (Eugene) Berent, Joan Kust; Godparents Brandon Kronschnabel and Ashley Stahlke; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, August 15, 2011 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Mound. Rev. Timothy Dolan celebrated the Mass with interment in the church cemetery.
Beverly Froehling, 83
Beverly Mae Froehling, "Bev, " age 83 of Orono, formerly of St. Paul died unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at her home in Orono. She was born September 27, 1927 to Frank and Elsie (Bursch) Holland in Mahnomen, Minnesota.
Bev was a loving mother and grandmother. She was the consummate homemaker, never missing a birthday; an excellent cook, always knowing what foods go best together and always able to add just the right thing. A kind of "Martha Stewart;" Bev had a flair for decorating. She created all of her children's clothing as they were growing up. She would remake clothes that were purchased, either improving their look or reinforcing the seams.
Bev is survived by her children Carol Froehling, Steve (Debby) Froehling, Cindy (Larry) Crowson; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Private family services will be held.

Verneda Hackler, 77
Verneda M. Hackler, age 77, of St. Michael and formerly of Rogers passed away on Friday, August 12th, 2011 at Park View Care Center in Buffalo.
She was born on October 15, 1933 in Rogers the daughter of Hillary and Emma Reinking Milless.
She was born again by the washing of water in the Word at her baptism. Verneda was later instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith on February 6, 1953 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Corcoran. Her memory verse was Hebrews 13:5 "Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee."
On September 20. 1952, Verneda M. Milless and Ralph Hackler were joined in holy marriage at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Corcoran.
Mr. and Mrs. Hackler farmed east of Hanover for many years.
She enjoyed playing bingo, cards, embroidering, word search books and potato pancakes.
Verneda was a faithful member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Maple Grove.
Survived by loving daughters: Geraldine (Shelby) Vanderpool of Big Lake, Carol (Rodney) Schumm of Zimmerman, Marlene (John) King of St. Michael, Sandra Uran of Albertville and Karen (Greg) Pollock of St. Michael; fifteen grandchildren and sixteen great- grandchildren; a brother: Glen Milless of Hamel; a sister: Elaine Bauer of Maple Grove; other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by husband: Ralph H. Hackler, two infant children: Henry and Kathleen, a grandson: Nicholas, a great granddaughter: Madeline, a son-in-law: Melvin Cichon, her parents: Hillary and Emma Milless, stepfather Harry Manthey and by brothers: Earl & Leon Milless.
Funeral services for Verneda Hackler were held at 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, August 16th at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 9141 County Road #101, in Maple Grove. Pastor Steven Briel officiated.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
A visitation was held at The Peterson Chapel St. Michael-Albertville Funeral Home on Monday, August 15th from 4-8 P.M. A Prayer Service was held at 7:00 P.M.
Further visitation took place at the church on Tuesday, August 16th one hour prior to services.
Honorary Casket Bearers were: Angie Kingstedt, Jody Benjamin, Jessica Harding, Amy Dongoski, Holly Kasper, Heather King, Angie Cichon and Brent Cichon.
Casket Bearers were grandsons: Troy Cichon, Steve Cichon, Corey King, Ryan Uran, Luke Pollock and Grady Pollock.

Donald Hanson, 52
Donald Hanson, 52 of Menahga, MN died on Monday, August 8, 2011 in Park Rapids, MN.
Donald Douglas Hanson was born April 23, 1959 at Buffalo, to Shirley Mae (Elletson) and Douglas James Hanson. He grew up in St. Michael and graduated from St. Michael / Albertville High School in 1977. He worked at DJ's Heating and Air Conditioning in Albertville for 20 years. He lived in St. Michael until 1999 when he moved to Menahga, where he has lived since. He has worked with Ackerman heating and air conditioning for the past 12 years.
Donnie was an avid outdoorsman who had a passion for hunting and fishing. He shared this passion with his son and brother, both whom he spent many hours with in the woods and on the lake. He proudly displayed his "big catches" on his walls and in countless photos. Donnie was a hard worker and skilled craftsman, building three homes from the ground up, most recently, "The Ranch" he shared with his parents on 100 acres near Menahga, He spent many hours sitting on his dock and driving the trails admiring the wildlife that also called "The Ranch" home.
Donnie is survived by his mother and step-father, Shirley and Edward Lieffring of Menahga; father and step-mother, Douglas and Judy Hanson of Buffalo; daughter, Stefanie Hanson of Buffalo; son, Daniel Hanson of St. Michael; granddaughter, Annah Belle of Rogers; sisters, Debbie (Jim) Deiman of Arizona, Darlene (Dave) Ludders of Monticello, Denise (Johnny) Blom of Becker; brother, Duane (Jennifer) Hanson of Clearwater; nieces and nephews, Diane, Bryan, Bobby "BJ", Kristin, Amanda, Jennie, Jon, Joe, Alexandra, Madison and Jackson.
Donnie was preceded in death by grandparents, Dewey and Lethe Elletson and Albert and Margaret Hanson.
A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Park Rapids. Visitation took place from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Father Thomas Friedl officiated.
Honorary Urn Bearers were: Paul Fehn, Jeff Petroski, Tom Wendell, Nate Ackerman, Greg Ackerman, Tom Ackerman and Greg Oakland. A local memorial service will be held at a later date.
