Dennis Westphal, 66
Dennis Louis Westphal, 66, of Buffalo passed away Oct. 10, 2015 at his home.
He was born April 26, 1949 in Buffalo, Minn. to Bernard and Elva (Walberg) Westphal. He was a 1967 graduate of Buffalo High School. Dennis was a lifelong dairy farmer on the family farm in Buffalo Township until his retirement in 2000. After retirement, he pursued many new trades, including concrete construction, excavating and fixing things. No matter the job, Dennis was always a farmer at heart.
Dennis was a man of his faith. He was baptized, confirmed and married at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo. On April 8, 1972, Dennis Louis Westphal and Shirley M. Schuettpelz were married at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo.
He enjoyed water-skiing, downhill skiing, fishing with his family, four-wheeling on trails, snowmobiling, time spent with family, having a good conversation with everyone he met (He was always making new friends wherever he went.), and trying new things.
Preceded in death by: his parents, Bernard and Elva Westphal; infant sister, Patty Anne; and sister, Bonnie Jean Marquette.
He is survived by: his wife, Shirley of Buffalo; children, Jennifer (Dan) Carlson of Maple Lake, Jodi (Randy Johnson) Westphal of River Falls, WI, Dennis Jr. (Cori) Westphal of Elk River, and Daniel Westphal of Buffalo; grandchildren, Sommer, Nathan, Cheyenne, Dylan, Kennedy, Tucker, and Daeton; sisters, Darlene (Anthony) Shimota of Oak Park, Calif. and Geraldine (Carl) Hagelin of Watertown; and many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Funeral services for Dennis Westphal will be held Thursday, Oct. 15, at 11 a.m., with visitation starting at 10 a.m., at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo. Interment follows at Lakeview Cemetery in Buffalo.
Serving the family is the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo.
David Becker, 49
David Michael Becker was born on Aug. 8, 1965 to Leander and Eleanor (Daleiden) Becker in Monticello, Minn. He passed away peacefully at home on June 29, 2015 at the age of 49 surrounded by his loving family.
Visitation was scheduled on Wednesday, July 1 from 4 to 8 p.m., with prayer service at 7 p.m., in the Church of St. Michael in St. Michael, Minn. Further visitation is one hour prior to Mass on Thursday, July 2, 11 a.m., at the church. Interment is planned at St. Michael Cemetery.

Eugene Dornquast, 66
After valiantly fighting Acute Myeloid Leukemia for almost two years, Gene Dornquast left for his heavenly home on Sunday, June 28, 2015, surrounded by family and friends.
Eugene Michael Dornquast was born in Morris, Minn. on July 19, 1948 to Floyd and Rose Dornquast. Gene excelled in his studies and sports, especially football, basketball and track. He graduated from Buffalo High School in 1966 and attended St. Cloud State College. He remained a loyal Minnesota Vikings fan throughout his life.
Gene was a confirmed member of Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo, Minn. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, past member of First Lutheran Church, and member of the Emmaus Community, all in Columbus, Ind.
A gentle, generous and good-humored man, Gene was well known and respected in the medical diagnostic field. He was an engineer for Hitachi Medical Systems in Ohio, installing Open Air MRI systems. In 1996, Gene relocated to Columbus, Ind. and named Director of Technical Services for Soteria Imaging, traveling nationwide to establish and maintain MRI centers. He retired July 2013.
God and family were of the utmost importance in Gene's life, and his faith sustained him through his illness, as well as the best of times. Gene praised the Lord in every circumstance. He was an inspiration to, and will be sorely missed, by many.
Gene is survived by: his cherished wife of 37 years, Pamela K.; his beloved mother, Rose J. Olson; treasured son and "daughter-in-love, " Chad and Jayne Dornquast; grandsons, Steven and Scott, who were the apples of his eye; dear friends, Ann and Joe Kinderman, and Dr. Chuck and Sandy Hatcher; and his devoted terrier, Miss Lillie Mae.
He had wonderful family and friends in Ohio and Minnesota, too many to list. He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd, and stepfather, Ray Olson.
A celebration of Gene's life was scheduled on Wednesday, July 1 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Pastor Patrick Galligar officiating, with visitation prior to a service. Inurnment was planned at Garland Brook Cemetery's Memorial Gardens directly after service.

Roberta Hatch, 64
Roberta Jo Hatch (Sheridan), 64, of Fridley passed away June 25, 2015 at Lake Ridge Care Center in Buffalo, Minn.
Roberta enjoyed her pets, especially her dog, Noodles, and spending time with family and friends.
Preceded in death by: her parents, Robert Joseph Sheridan and Faye Naomi Sheridan; daughter, Vanessa Hatch; aunt, Darlene Rethlake; and maternal and paternal grandparents.
Survived by: husband, Stanley Hatch; son, Harley Hatch; siblings, Michael Sheridan, Allison Naschak, Daniel Sheridan (Diane Turman), and Sherry Enfield; dear friend, Dolores Ristow; and nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Private family services were planned.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family and may be sent, attention Hatch Family, to 119 Central Ave., Buffalo, MN 55313.

Hilja Loukusa, 86
Hilja Amalia Loukusa, 86, of Buffalo, formerly of Seattle, Wash., passed away on Monday, June 29, 2015 at Park View Care Center.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 7 from 5-9 p.m. at the Rockford Laestadian Lutheran Church. Further services will be held in Woodinville, Wash.

Mary Murphy, 94
Mary C. Murphy, 94, joined her heavenly Father peacefully on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at the Legacy of Delano.
She was born Dec. 1, 1920 to Michael and Dorothy (Cougar) Streiff, Sr. on a farm in Credit River, Minn., where she lived until she married. Mary had a strong Catholic faith. She attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Delano, where she was a member of the Rosary Society. She was loved by many, who will miss her and always keep her in their hearts.
Mary was joined in marriage to Hugh T. Murphy on April 23, 1941. They originally lived in Credit River and later moved to Delano, where they farmed for several years. They then moved to Prior Lake and continued to farm. In 1963, Mary and Hugh moved back to Delano and bought a farm.
She loved gardening in the spring and summer, playing cards always, dancing any time, spending time with friends and family, and of course, playing the piano. Mary and Hugh spent over 18 years as snowbirds in Texas, where they made many friends with whom they stayed in touch even after they were no longer able to make the trip. After moving into the Legacy, Mary was pleased she could continue to play the piano for the residents and also to assist with the church services held there every week.
Mary was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Hugh; son, Stephen; grandson-in-law, Richie Schmidt; brothers, John and Leo; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Ann and Ambros Hauer, Rita Murphy and John Murphy, Marcella and Joe Pieper, Veronica and Joe Thelen, and Lenora Streiff.
She is survived by: her children, Jeanne (Dick) Penn, Susan (Larry) Reich and Kenneth (Penni) Murphy; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; sister, Collette (Don) Andersen; brother, Michael (Carol) Streiff; daughter-in-law, Dianne Murphy; sisters-in-law, Catherine Streiff, Marlene Streiff and Pat Murphy; and many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial was scheduled at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 8 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Delano, with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. and with a 9:30 a.m. Rosary service Wednesday prior to the Mass at the church. Mary requested the memorials to be sent to Catholic Relief. She will be laid to rest next to Hugh at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Arrangements were by the Iten Funeral Home in Delano.
Adeline Neutz, 91
Adeline Evelyn Neutz, 91, of Maple Lake died peacefully at the Lake Ridge Care Center of Buffalo on June 28, 2015.
She was born on the family farm, Albion Township, Wright County, Minn. on Feb. 18, 1924 to Arthur and Elsa (Beier) Marohn.
Adeline was united in marriage to Arnold Neutz on April 14, 1946 at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Monticello, Minn. Arnold preceded her in death on July 4, 2012. They lovingly shared 66 years together. In 1948, they purchased a farm southwest of Maple Lake and farmed for many years. Adeline resided there the remainder of her life. She loved being with her family and especially enjoyed baking cookies for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking and collecting recipes, knitting and gardening. She was known for her homemade dill pickles.
Adeline was a devout Christian and a member of the St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Buffalo for the past 63 years.
She is survived by: her children, Robert (Hollis) Neutz of Thompson’s Station, Tenn., Thomas (Sharyl) Neutz of Merrifield, Minn. and Margaret (Frederick) Nowak of Redlands, Calif.; five grandchildren, Timothy (Linda) Neutz of Royalton, Minn., Bradley (Michelle) Neutz of Maple Lake, Erica (Joseph) Vasquez of Redlands, Calif., Gregory (Nicolette) Neutz of Brooklyn Park, Minn., and Erick (Jeanie) Nowak of Redlands, Calif.; 12 great-grandchildren, Matthew, Grace, Isaac, and Benjamin Neutz, Samuel, Daniel, Sarah, and Joseph Neutz, Gabriela, Dominick and Christian Vasquez, and Emily Nowak; and brother-in-law, Harold Erickson of Burnsville, Minn.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; sisters, Sarah Marohn, Ardella Erickson and Dorothy Marohn; brother, Victor Marohn; and grandson, Eric Frederick Nowak.
Adeline’s pilgrimage on Earth was richly blessed by the Lord. Now she rests in Her Savior Jesus Christ’s heavenly embrace.
Visitation and services will be held at St John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Buffalo. Visitation will be Sunday, July 5 from 5-7 p.m., as well as one hour prior to the funeral services, which will be held on Monday, July 6 at 10 a.m. Pastor Roger Klemz will officiate. Burial will follow at the Minnesota Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls, Minn.

Roger E. Ronning, 97, of Golden Valley, formerly of Eagan.
Born in Duluth Feb. 3, 1918. Loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather. Active member of the Shrine.
Preceded in death by: wife, Katherine; and siblings, Al, Grant, Jean, and Mitchel.
Survived by: children, Dale, Sandy, Beth, and Heather; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorial services 1 p.m. Friday, July 3, Iten Funeral Chapel, Delano. Gathering of family and friends 12 - 1 p.m. Friday prior to service. Inurnment at a later date in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
