Michael Sandford
Memorial services for Michael Sandford, 64, Blaine, took place Jan. 29 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Fridley. Revs. Jeff Gustafson and John Niewald officiated.
Sandford died Jan. 25, 2004 at Mercy Hospital. He was born Dec. 5, 1939 in Minneapolis to Walter and Myrtle (Youngquist) Sandford and was a retired 27-year employee of Cream of Wheat.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Elaine); daughters, Vickie Zinken, Julie Erickson (Bruce) and Anita Shea (Kevin); six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, Walter, Frank (Mary), James (Barb) and Raymond (Kathleen); sisters, Marlene, Marilyn (Jim), Cheryl, Kathy; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters

Loren Schmelzer
Funeral services for Loren Alois Schmelzer, 87, Anoka, took place Feb. 2 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Anoka. Rev. Mike VanSloun officiated.
Schmelzer died Jan. 29, 2004 at Twin Rivers Care Center, Anoka. He was born May 23, 1916 in Little Falls to Paul James and Gertrude Cecilia (Wardarski) Schmelzer, and was retired carpenter.
He is survived by his wife, Stella; brother, Del (Aggie) Schmelzer and Richard Schmelzer; sisters, Dorothy Deshayes, Dolores Marotte and Leona (John) Trost; sister-in-law, Doris Schmelzer; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Gertrude Schmelzer; and brothers, Rev. Paul Schmelzer and Ronald Schmelzer.
Pallbearers were Christine Awker, Kurt Deshayes, Jennifer and Patrick Marotte, Tom Schmelzer and Chris Trost.
Interment was at Calvary Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Helen Treptow
Memorial services for Helen Treptow, 75, Crystal, took place Feb. 1 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids. Rev. William Kirmsse officiated.
Treptow died Jan. 27, 2004 at Camilia Rose Convalescent Center, Coon Rapids. She was born Feb. 21, 1928 in Hopkins to Henry and Mary Dostal.
She is survived by her children, Melody Bolander, Roxanne Neslund and Dan (Laurie) Neslund; grandchildren, Joe (Wendy) and Jeff (Robyn) Bolander, Angela and Michael Neslund; great-granddaughters, Payton and Kennedy; sisters, Joanne and Irene; and brother, Donald.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Neslund; and son-in-law, Brian Bolander.
Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.
Paul VanWagner Jr.
Funeral services for Paul VanWagner, Jr., 77, Coon Rapids, took place Jan. 29 at Epiphany Catholic Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. Jose Puthenparambil officiated.
VanWagner died Jan. 24, 2004 in Anoka. He was born July 17, 1926 in Eau Claire, Wis., to Paul VanWagner Sr. and Jessie Reed, and was a retired Anoka County deputy sheriff.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; children, Paul, Laura, Brian, Donna, Sharon, Mary, Aron and Jerry; brothers, Bruce, Leroy and Keith; and sister, Catherine.
Interment was at Epiphany Cemetery, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart.
Dean Watters
Funeral services for Dean Watters, 68, Coon Rapids, took place Feb. 5 at Epiphany Catholic Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. Wilfred Theisen officiated.
Watters died Feb. 12, 2004. He was born Feb. 26, 1935 in L'Anse, Mich., and was plant manager in plastics manufacturing.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; five children; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister.
He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Don.
Pallbearers were Donald Ahlberg, Frank Simons, John Andries, Dennis Anderson, and Mike and Al Theisen.
Interment was at Epiphany Cemetery, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Jeffrey Breth
Funeral services for Jeffrey M. Breth, 34, Coon Rapids, took place Feb. 6 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Albany. Rev. Dan Wagner officiated.
Breth died Feb. 2, 2004 in Columbia Heights. He was born Dec. 1, 1969 in Coon Rapids to Herbert and Irene Breth and was a restaurant manager.
He is survived by his parents, Herbert and Irene; sisters, Jan (Randy) Beers, Debra Greeninger (Chris Conrad); brother, Jim (Teri) Breth; and nieces and nephews, Brett, Stephanie, Cody, Rachel and Hannah.
Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Chapel, Coon Rapids.
James Crohn
Funeral services for James C. Crohn, 58, Coon Rapids, took place Feb. 6 at Epiphany Catholic Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. Joe Cycenas officiated.
Crohn died Feb. 2, 2004 at Fairview University Hospital. He was born July 8, 1945 and was a superintendent with the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
He is survived by his mother, Vivian; sister, Sandy Lehrke; nephews, Robb, Mike and Greg; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father. Clyde.
Pallbearers were Gerald Abraham, Daniel Lang, Keith Jacobson, Wayne and Lindsey Craig and Jeff Crohn.
Interment was at Epiphany Cemetery, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Agnes Einarson
Funeral services for Agnes M. Einarson, 101, Brooklyn Park, formerly of Starbuck, took place Feb. 8 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Chapel, Anoka. Rev. Timothy G. Johnson officiated.
Einarson died Feb. 4, 2004 at St. Louis Park Plaza Health Center. She was born June 25, 1902 in Starbuck to Thom Ole and Ranei (Fosse) Lee.
She is survived by many nieces, nephews, great and great-grand nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; brothers, Oscar and Rudy Lee; and sisters, Ruth Veum, Esther Nordberg and Caroline Finstad.
Pallbearers were Mark and Paul Finstad, Thomas Sisler, Scott Bjelde, Curtis Nordberg and Christopher and Andrew Blake.
Interment was at Forest Hill Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.
David Hocks
Funeral services for David S. Hocks, 52, Braham, took place Feb. 7 at Gearhart Funeral Chapel, Coon Rapids. Revs. Barry Davis, Calvin Miller and Robert Myers officiated.
Hocks died Jan. 31, 2004 in Mora. He was born Dec. 23, 1941 in Brainerd to Stanley B. and Blanche K. Hocks and was a mechanic.
He is survived by his parents, Stanley and Blanche 'Bunny' Hocks.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Holly.
Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Chapel.
Harriet Jackson
Harriet Lorraine Jackson, 86, Gardnerville, Nev., formerly of Anoka, died Jan. 18, 2004 in Gardnerville.
Jackson was born Nov. 20, 1917 in Minneapolis to Walter Edwin Carlson and Solveig Lillian Thora Heyer. She and her husband Fred, third generation owner of the former Jackson Hotel, Anoka, lived in Anoka for 61 years. She worked for 10 years a state motor vehicle examiner.
She is survived by her husband, Fred; daughter, Julie Flanagan of Gardnerville, Nev.; son, Jeffrey of Carson City, Nev.; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Solveig Lunny of Westport, Conn.; and brother, Sheldon Carlson of Merritt Island, Fla.
Cremation arrangements were by FitzHenry's Funeral Home, Carson City, Nev.
Ethel Kielb
Funeral services for Ethel M. Kielb, 90, Edina, took place Feb. 5 at Kapala-Glodek Northeast Chapel. Deacon James DeShane officiated.
Kielb died Feb. 1, 2004 in Edina. She was born July 13, 1913 in Minneapolis to Andrew and Helga Nelson, and was retired from office work in retail clothing.
She is survived by her son, Paul (Deverah); grandchildren, Eric, Damian, Pam and Dan (Margie); great-grandchildren, Jennifer and Kacie; and sister, Alice Reedy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; daughter, Janet; and grandson, Steve.
Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Gearhart.
