Lois Veith

Funeral services for Lois Bertha Emma Christensen Veith, 91, Anoka, formerly of Solon Springs, Wis., St. Peter and St. James, took place Jan. 28 at Zion Lutheran Church, Anoka. Rev. Nancy Linn officiated.

Veith died Jan. 22, 2004 at Twin Rivers Care Center, Anoka. She was born Aug. 5, 1912 in Waverly Township, Martin County, to Lewis H. and Amalia (Kiehl) Christensen. She was a retired professional secretary at the American Lutheran Church headquarters.

She is survived by her children, Nona Spitzner of Bergen, N.Y., Gilman Veith and wife Kaye of Two Harbors, Marcia Matushenko and husband Matt of Anoka; grandchildren, Lara, Joanna, Dan, Aron, Tania and Tamara; and great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Bethany, Kaitlyn, Matthew and Anastasia.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis; grandsons, Darin Veith; granddaughter, Pamela Veith; and son-in-law, Jerry Spitzner.

Interment was at Waverly Lutheran Church Cemetery, Waverly Township. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Burton Zoerb

Memorial services for Burton L. Zoerb, 71, Blaine, will take place Jan. 31 at Spirit of Christ Lutheran Church, Ham Lake.

Zoerb died Jan. 24, 2004 at North Memorial Medical Center, Robbinsdale. He was born Aug. 6, 1931 in Minneapolis. He was a U.S. Army veteran and worked for a wholesale liquor distribution company.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; children, Scott and Geri; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Interment will be private at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements are by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Melody Buck

Memorial services for Melody H. Buck, . 57, Coon Rapids, took place Feb. 3 at Zion Lutheran Church, Anoka. Rev. Timothy Johnson officiated.

Buck died Jan. 25, 2004 at Park River Estates. She was born Nov. 24, 1946 in Cordova, Alaska, to Kenneth and Hope (Shroyer) Buck. She was a member of Eastern Star.

She is survived by her mother, Hope; brother, Bryan (Marlene); nephew, Will and the Shroyer family; special friends, Ernie and Rachel Ridens; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth.

Interment was private. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Edward Christiansen

Funeral services for Edward G. Christiansen, 86, Coon Rapids, took place Jan. 31 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids. Rev. Bill Steinke officiated.

Christiansen died Jan. 24, 2004 at Trevilla of New Brighton. He was born July 31, 1917 in Duluth. He was a retired electrician.

He is survived by his sons, Edward A. (Ellen), Gordon J., Mark S. (Lauren); son-in-law, James Severson; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Esther Kloven and Marjorie Lindberg.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Madeline; daughter, Cynthia Jean Severson; and brothers, Clarence and Gerald.

Interment was at Forest Hill Cemetery, Duluth. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.

Vera Erickson

Funeral services for Vera E. Erickson, 93, Coon Rapids and Anoka, took place Feb. 4 at Methven-Taylor Funeral Home, Anoka. Rev. Liane Rock officiated.

Erickson died Jan. 29, 2004 in Coon Rapids. She was born Dec. 5, 1910 in Minneapolis and was a retired dental assistant with Drs. Horita and Breitbach in Coon Rapids.

She is survived by her stepson, George J. (Harriet) Ferestad; grandchildren, Vicki Ferestad, Keith Ferestad, Valerie Perry; good friends, Bill and Pam Goodrich; nieces, Lillian Mays and Ann Cowles; and nephew, Ron Fisher.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George A. Ferestad Sr. and Dr. Owen Erickson.

Interment was at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were by Methven-Taylor Funeral Home.

Robert Froelich

Memorial services for Robert W. Froelich, 76, Ramsey, took place Feb. 7 at Anoka United Methodist Church.

Froelich died Jan. 31, 2004 in Panama City, Fla., He was born Aug. 16, 1927 in Vesta and was retired after 20 years with the U.S. Air Force and 15 years with the Anoka County Sheriff's Department.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; children, Kim Stenehjem (Steve), Kris Eide (Edward), Kathy Tonding (John), Robb Froelich (Linda); 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Marilyn Danielowski (Robert), Faye Ann Nelson (Tim); half-brother, Otto Froelich; and half-sister, Ethel Hahm.

Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Carl Hanson

Funeral services for Carl Leroy Hanson, 81, Baxter, formerly of Coon Rapids, took place Jan. 31 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Brainerd. Rev. Seamus Walsh officiated.

Hanson died Jan. 27, 2004 at his home. He was born April 20, 1922 in Wadena to Adolph and Fanny (Rosendahl) Hanson. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded both a Purple Heart and Silver Star during the Normandy invasion. He worked for Art Goebel Ford, Coon Rapids, until his retirement in 1989, and was a lifetime member of the VFW.

He is survived by his daughters, Jean (Jim) Current of Mountain Iron, Karleen (Chuck) Hamilton of Coon Rapids, and Renee (Allan) Steffen of Baxter; sons, Robert (Verena) Hanson of Mesa, Ariz., and Richard (Kathy) Hanson of Bethel, Ark.; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy; and brothers, Lauren, Eugene and Walfred.

Interment was at the Minnesota State Veterans's Center, Camp Ripley. Arrangements were by Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter.

Richard LaZerte Sr.

Funeral services for Richard Warren LaZerte Sr., 51, Ramsey, took place Feb. 1 at Osseo Church of the Nazarene. Rev. Jim Comfort officiated.

LaZerte died Jan. 27, 2004 at Mercy Hospital. He was born Jan. 16, 1953 in Robbinsdale to Howard Walter and Esther Ann (Johnson) LaZerte.

He is survived by his wife, Becky; sons, Rick Jr. (Becky) LaZerte of Ramsey, Jay (Kim) LaZerte of St. Francis; daughter, Kym (Adam) Kluge of Zimmerman; grandchildren, Tyler and Brianna LaZerte, Devon and Hope LaZerte and Ajay and Karlene Kluge; two brothers; and many other relatives and friends.

Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Nellie Lewis

Funeral services for Nellie M. Lewis, 88, Anoka, took place Feb. 2 at Gearhart Anoka Funeral Home. Rev. Adrian Sundberg officiated.

Lewis died Jan. 28, 2004 in Anoka. She was born July 13, 1915 in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Griffith Humphrey and Matie Roberts and was a retired teacher.

She is survived by her son, Ron (JoAnn); daughter, Edie Cole (Jack); five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Myron.

Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart.

June Mapes

Funeral services for June V. Mapes, 66, Mounds View, took place Jan. 29 at Pleasant Hills Community Church, Pequot Lakes. Rev. Leo Belanger officiated.

Mapes died Jan. 25, 2004 at Hennepin County Medical Center. She was born May 28, 1937 in Pequot lakes to Louis and Vernie Kottschade.

She is survived by her husband, Dean; sons, Ken 'Bo' (Gayle), Steven (Libby); daughters, Beth and Verna; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers and sisters, Sarah Wermier, Harvey Kottschade, Cecil Kottschade, Myron Kottschade (Carroll), Robert Kottschade, Doris Campbell (Jerry), Donna Rivard (Mark), Nora Jabus (David), Milton Kottschade; one aunt; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Leona Kottschade and Grace Decamp; and brother, Basil Kottschade.

Interment was at Pleasant Hills Community Cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Josie Nutter

Funeral services for Josie Florence Nutter, 85, St. Francis, took place Feb. 4 at St. Francis United Methodist Church. Rev. Rhodel Jacobson officiated.

Butter died Jan. 31, 2004 at Mercy Hospital. She was born Jan. 9 1919 in Isanti to Arthur St. Clair and Hazel Elizabeth (Smith) Irwin, and was retired after 34 years at Federal Cartridge.

She is survived by her children, Curtis (Ruth) Nutter, Joanne (Ron) Grams and Sharon (Jim) Myers; grandchildren, Curt Jr. (Deanna) Nutter, Shelly (Jerry) Budach, Debra (Dave) Rahn, Kristin (Tom) Whitehead, Tim (Geri) Grams, Jay (Shelly) Myers, Jeff Myers, Jennifer (Donnie) George; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Kermit Irwin and Morrie (Marty) Irwin; sisters, Luce Fritzges and Joyce Williams; and many other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Curtis Nutter Jr., Timothy Grams, Jay and Jeffrey Myers, Dave Rahn, Tom Whitehead, Jerry Budach and Donnie George.

Interment was at West Oak Grove Cemetery. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Clarence Paul

Funeral services for Clarence E. Paul, 89, Coon Rapids, took place Feb. 4 at Faith Lutheran Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. James Donald officiated.

Paul died Feb. 1, 2004 in Anoka. He was born Oct. 9, 1914 in Gaylord and was a retired shop inspector for a tool and die company.

He is survived by his grandson, Marc (Holly); granddaughter, Mikki (Gary) Carlson; great-granddaughters, Alexandra and Caitlyn; and brother-in-law, Dale Webster (Bev).

He was preceded in death by his wife, Florinda; and sons, David, Richard and Charles.

Interment was at Glen Haven. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
