Brian Sweeney
Funeral service for Brian T. Sweeney, 18, Coon Rapids, took place Dec. 31, 2005 at Church of the Epiphany Coon Rapids.
Sweeney died Dec. 26, 2005.
He is survived by his daughter, Kalee and her mother Whitney; mother, Kathy Sullivan (Neil Hill), father, Leone (Jennifer) Sweeney; brother, Dan; stepbrother, Jack Lutz; grandmothers, Margaret Sullivan and Christa Sweeney; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Thomas Sullivan and Winston Sweeney; godmother, Margo Howell; and stepgrandparents, Gerald and Shirley Betland.
Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Patricia Vrabel
Funeral service for Patricia 'Jo' Vrabel, 75, Coon Rapids, took place Dec. 27 at Church of the Epiphany, Coon Rapids.
Vrabel died Dec. 20, 2005. She was a longtime family counselor at Unity Hospital and a charter member of Epiphany Catholic Church.
She is survived by her sons, Robert, Randy (Anne), Ron; daughter, Julie Luhning; grandchildren, Michael, Christopher, Sarah and Samantha; and sister, Marge Haben.
She was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Robert Vrabel; parents, Willard and Hazel Buck; and brother, Jim Buck.
Interment was at Epiphany Cemetery, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Mavis Wiborg
Memorial service for Mavis D. Wiborg, 85, Coon Rapids, took place Dec. 27, 2005 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
She is survived by her partner, Rex King; sons, Jack, Duke (Connie), Tom (Ann), Dan (Linda), Fred (Lynn); daughter, Tina Cronin (Greg); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester; and daughter, Lorrie Hietela.
Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.
Sidney Anderson
Funeral service for Sidney Woodrow Anderson, 93, Ham Lake, took place Jan. 5, 2006 at Glen Cary Lutheran Church. Rev. Paul Settergren officiated.
Anderson died Dec. 31, 2005 at Twin Rivers Care Center, Anoka. He was born Dec. 13, 1912 in Ham Lake to Louis and Clara (Erickson) Anderson. He was a retired storage department clerk for the Soo Line Railroad.
He is survived by his wife, Lois; children, Nancy (Ragland) Cooper, Robert and Douglas Anderson, Julie (Michael) Youso; six grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers were John Ganter, Roy Westlund, Travis Peterson, Andrew and David Youso, Gary Steen and Sherm Baklund.
Interment was at Glen Cary Lutheran Church Cemetery, Ham Lake. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Brandon Benny
Funeral service for Brandon Robert Benny, 24, Oak Grove, took place Jan. 8 at Constance Free Church. Revs. Randy Discher and Jim Scott officiated.
Benny died Jan. 3, 2006 in Andover from injuries sustained in an auto accident. He was born Nov. 18, 1981 in Minneapolis to Robert Kenneth and Brenda Kay (Bednarski) Benny and worked for his father at Benny and Sons.
He is survived by his parents, Robert and Brenda Benny of Oak Grove; brothers, Allen (Diana) Fagerberg of Ramsey, Jared Benny of Oak Grove; sister, Tracey (Mike) Lubawski of North Carolina; grandparents, Jack and Jennaur Bednarski of Minneapolis; nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins; and other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Stanley and Alice Benny; and uncle, Sonny Benny.
Pallbearers were Jared Benny, Allen Fagerberg, Jeremy Eichmiller, Tim McMullen, Abe Davis, Andy Long, Jeremy Nelson and Bobby Nerison.
Interment was at Constance Cemetery, Andover. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
John Dahle
Funeral service for John Ford Dahle, 34, Minneapolis, took place Jan. 7 at United Methodist Church of Anoka. Rev. Bill Eaves officiated.
Dahle died Jan. 3, 2006. He was born May 10, 1971 in Detroit Lakes to James Howard and Kathleen Kay (Ford) Dahle. He was an accountant.
He is survived by his parents, Jim and Kathy; brother, Mark; sister, Sarah (Josh) Vedo; grandmother, Erva Dahle; and nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, R.W. and Margaret Ford and J.M. Dahle.
Interment as private. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Clarence Dalzell
Funeral service for Clarence James Dalzell, 89, Rogers, took place Jan. 6 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Anoka. Rev. Mike Van Sloun officiated.
Dalzell died Jan. 2, 2006 at Wellstead of Rogers. He was born July 9, 1916 in Walhalla Township, Pembina County, N.D., to James and Josephine (Longtin) Dalzell. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II and was a retired grain elevator manager at Farmers Union GTA and Harvest States.
He is survived by his wife, Edna; children, Louis, Ray (Carol), Larry (Sheila) and Karen; brothers, Vernon (Marie), Donald (Gail), all of Walhalla, N.D.; Leona of Williamsburg, Va., ; sisters, Lenora (Cecil) Gelder of Chehalis, Wash.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ervin; and sister, Annie Beauchamp.
Pallbearers were Dean, Brent, Gregory and Steve Dalzell and Robert Phang.
Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Judith Engstrom
Funeral service for Judith E. Engstrom, 62, Shoreview, took place Jan. 7 at Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids. Rev. Jim Hogan officiated.
Engstrom died Jan. 2, 2006 in New Brighton. She was born June 7, 1943 in Whitehall, Wis., to Lester and Helen Linberg and was secretary.
She is survived by her husband, Darwin 'Butch;' daughter, Lori (Tom) Peterson; son, Troy; mother, Helen Linberg; sister, Pat (Wayne) Ericksmoen; sister-in-law, Dona Linberg; and grandchildren, Lea, Sean, T.J. and Ashley.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lester; and brother, Lawrence.
Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home.
Elmer Fedderson
Funeral service for Rev. Elmer A. Fedderson, 95, Andover, formerly of Kansas, Missouri and Illinois, took place Jan. 7 at Faith Lutheran Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. Curtis Deterding officiated.
Fedderson died Jan. 5, 2006 at Mercy Hospital. He was born Dec. 26, 1910 in Bethalto, Ill., to Peter N. and Louise (Luken) Fedderson and was a retired Lutheran minister.
He is survived by his daughter, Lois (David) Hauschild of Andover; grandchildren, Kristen (Erick) Norby and Andrew Hauschild; great-grandchildren, Marissa and Reese Norby; sister, Ella Gutknecht of Denver, Colo.; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dula.
Interment was at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Dolores Hirsch
Funeral service for Dolores Hildegard Hirsch, 92, Isanti, formerly of Bethel, took place Jan. 9 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Isanti. Rev. Frank Tomasiewicz officiated.
Hirsch died Jan. 6, 2006. She was born June 10, 1913 in Sioux Falls, S.D., to Albert and Elizabeth Studer.
She is survived by her children, Joycelyn Smith, Charles (Donna) Hirsch, Bob (Pat) Hirsch, Carol Stahnke, Jo Ann (Mike) Ravnes, Glen (Sharon) Hirsch, Lyle (Nancy) Hirsch, Ron Hirsch; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, F. Jerome (Muriel) Studer; sister, Marcelinne Brunn; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emerson; one granddaughter; and two great-granddaughters.
Pallbearers were Bob, Charles, Glen, Jared and Lyle Hirsch and Mike Ravnes.
Interment was at Christ the King Catholic Cemetery, Cambridge. Arrangements were by Strike Funeral Home - Isanti Chapel.
Dorothy Larson
Funeral service for Dorothy Lucille Larson, 79, Coon Rapids, formerly of Anoka, took place Jan. 7 at Zion Lutheran Church. Rev. Timothy Johnson officiated.
Larson died Jan. 4, 2006 at Camilia Rose Convalescent Center, Coon Rapids. She was born Feb. 12, 1926 in Minneapolis to Ignus Theodore and Gina Beata (Sylling) Blegen and was retired from Federal Cartridge, where she was employed in human resources.
She is survived by her husband, Glenn; children, Barbara Gwynn of Spokane, Wash., Russell (Shari) of McGregor, Bevely Larson of Bristol, R.I.; grandchildren, Heather, Ivan and Chloe; brothers, Edward (Marilyn) Blegen of Bloomington and John (Twyla) Blegen of Woodbury; sister, Charlotte (Sherwood) Mellom of Willmar; and sister-in-law, Barbara Blegen of Baxter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Robert Blegen.
Pallbearers were Gary Watros, Charles Rydmark, Clif Perry, Bill, Rick and Eric Blegen and Butch Mellom. Honorary pallbearers were Norman Johnson and Ivan Gwynn.
Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
