Blanche Pipenhagen
Funeral services for Blanche D. Pipenhagen, 88, Spring Park, formerly of Anoka, took place June 4 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka. Rev. Liane S. Rock officiated.
Pipenhagen died May 31, 2003 at the Presbyterian Home of Lake Minnetonka. She was born Oct. 18, 1914, in Dayton to Michael and Dora (Christenson) Blesi.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane Moen and husband Owen; son, Willard; grandsons, Timothy Moen and wife Carrie, Jason Moen and wife Erin; great-granddaughter, Alexa; brother, Wayne Blesi; and sister, Shirley Lian.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert.
Pallbearers were Timothy and Jason Moen.
Interment was at Forest Hill cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.
Gloria Russell
Funeral services for Gloria L. Russell, 77, Coon Rapids, took place June 2 at Epiphany Catholic Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. Patrick Kennedy officiated.
Russell died May 26, 2003. She was born Sept. 28, 1925 and was a retired word processor at Augsburg Fortress Publishing.
She is survived by her children, Janet Lynn Russell (Teri), Kim Marie Flesner (Luke), Kathleen Ann Popp (Doug Ziebarth), Terry JoAnne Bass, Patrick Scott Russell (Sally), David Jeffrey Russell (Morgan), Mary Christine Hull (Randall); the children's father, Richard Guy; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry Vopava (Rosalie); and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Christine Lee; and brother, Denny Vopava.
Interment was at Epiphany cemetery, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Rosemary Sethi
Funeral services for Rosemary Lee Sethi, 55, Anoka, took place June 4 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Anoka. Rev. Adrian Piotrowski officiated.
Sethi died June 1, 2003 at Mercy Hospital. She was born June 26, 1947 in Rocksbury, to Fred M. Bruggeman and Ermenie Derocher. She was a clinic manager.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Surendra Sethi; children, Menka, Rajni and Suresh; sisters, Caroline (John) Norbeck, Mildred Duden, Marie (Lynn) Nicholson, Mary Eidsaune, Doris (Daryl) Hill and Patricia (Jim) Jacobson; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers were David Lee, Carlos Grados, Suresh and Surendra Sethi, Paul, Harrison and Chad Thomason.
Interment was at Calvary cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Virginia Stealey
Funeral services for Virginia E. Stealey, 80, Coon Rapids, took place June 2 at Methven-Taylor Funeral Home, Blaine. Rev. Kenneth Rice officiated.
Stealey died May 30, 2003 at Camilia Rose Convalescent Center, Coon Rapids. She was born June 10, 1922 in Chicago, Ill., to Eugene Stealey and Edith Olive Wolfe, and worked for American Can Company for 39 years.
She is survived by her brothers, Richard Stealey (Virginia Mack) of Clearwater, Fla.; half-brothers, Jimmy Staley, Louie Alvarez and Paul Avery; close friend, Pauline Griffin of Illinois; nephews, Mike Stealey (Madeline), Scott Avery; nieces, Marna Stealey McComb, Debbie Mattheisen (Don), Janet Pedtrotti, Jill Gorenz; great-nieces, Erin McComb (Josh Bombach), Kayla McComb, Kim Hendrick (Chris), Jessica Mattheisen; great-nephews, Scott and Michael Stealey and Tim Mattheisen; great-great nephews, Brody and Griffin Jensen and Rhiley Snyder; and great-great nieces, McKenna Jensen and Ivy Snyder.
Arrangements were by Methven-Taylor Funeral Home, Blaine Chapel.
John Steelman
Funeral services for John Britt Steelman, 75, Hilton Head Island, S.C., took place June 3 at St. Francis Catholic Church, Hilton Head Island.
Steelman died May 30, 2003. He was an educator for 25 years in Anoka-Hennepin School District 11.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; sons, Bryan of St. Paul, and David of Anchorage, Alaska; brother, Dr. Joseph Steelman of Greenville, N.C.; six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Hoke Steelman.
Arrangements were by The Island Funeral Home and Crematory, Hilton Head Island.
Mary West
Funeral services for Mary L. West, 56, Andover, took place May 31, 2003 at St. Therese Catholic Church, Deephaven. Rev. Mark Shallbetter officiated.
West died at her home. She was born May 20, 1947 in Little Falls to Harry Raveling and Ruth LeBlase and was a teleconference specialist with AT&T.;
She is survived by her husband, Gary; daughters, Carla, Deanne, LeAnne, Angela (William) Kiblin; soon-to-arrive first grandchild, Baby Kiblin; father, Harry Raveling; brothers, Robert (Michelle), Richard (Debra); and sisters, Jane (James) Thies.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth.
Pallbearers were Roger Sharon, Gary Shay, Dave O'Toole, Jerry Koltes, Tom Miller, Jim Ryan. Honorary pallbearers were Ann Sharon, Glenice Shay, Lois O'Toole, Mary Koltes, Renee Miller and Linda Ryan.
Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart.
Dorothy Wills
Funeral services for Dorothy B. 'Dotty' Wills, 82, Coon Rapids, took place June 3 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Columbia Heights. Rev. Al Backmann officiated.
Wills died May 27, 2003 at Camilia Rose Convalescent Center, Coon Rapids. She was born Dec. 29, 1920 in Gilman to Tony Bialke and Mary Wojiechowski.
She is survived by her son, Greg (Mary); daughter, Judy Gore; grandchildren, Jason, Kris, Amanda and Leah; brothers, Larry, Daniel and Clarence Bialke; sisters-in-law, Gayle, Marcella and Susie Bialke; brother-in-law, Pete Aasen; and many relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy; and daughter, Jackie.
Pallbearers were Bob Aasen, and Jerry, Vicki, Kevin, Roger and Mike Bialke.
Interment was at Fort Snelling National cemetery. Arrangements were by Methven-Taylor Funeral Home, Columbia Heights Chapel.
Gerald Dietrich
Funeral services for Gerald Dietrich, 47, Mora, took place June 9 at Strike Funeral Home - Isanti Chapel. Rev. Howard Skulstad officiated.
Dietrich died June 6, 2003 at Kanabec Hospital as a result of a horse accident. He was born Oct. 8, 1955 in Minneapolis to Marie and Darrell Dietrich. He was employed in construction.
He is survived by his daughters, Jessica, Starr and Amber Phelps, all of Minneapolis; grandson, Jeremiah Eugene; parents, Marie and Darrell of Anoka; sisters, Sandra and husband Tom Haskin of Fridley, Sue and husband Daryl Heikes of Minneapolis, Becky and husband Tim Kostreba of Andover, Judy Thompson of Minnetonka, Cindy Fickle of Mounds View, Wanda Dietrich of Anoka; and many other relatives and friends.

Bernett Hanson
Funeral services for H. Bernett Hanson, 86, Bemidji, took place June 9 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka. Rev. Lyle Olson officiated.
Hanson died June 6, 2003 at Anoka Care Center. He was born Aug. 30, 1916 in Fertile to Henry A. and Bertina (Thordal) Hanson, and was a retired nursing home owner and Lions club member.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene of Anoka; daughter, Jane (Michael) Johnson of Coon Rapids; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Bertina Hanson; and brothers, Norman, Millard and Hector Hanson.
Interment was at Concordia cemetery, Fertile. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.
Lawrence James
Funeral services for Lawrence H. James, 82, Andover, took place June 5, 2003 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Anoka.
James died in Andover. He was a World War II veteran and worked as a teacher and principal in the Los Angeles City School District for 35 years.
He is survived by his wife, Madalyn; daughter, Sandra Furomoto of Maui; grandchildren, Kai Akin, Aleshanee (Greg) Lutz, and Gabriel (Jen) Furomoto; and four great-grandchildren, all of Maui.
He was preceded in death by his son, Michael; infant son, Larry David; brothers, Wilmont and Glen; and sister, Marjorie Mitchell.
Interment was at Evergreen cemetery, Riverside, Calif. Arrangements were by Methven-Taylor Funeral Home.
Darlys Johnson
Funeral services for Darlys M. Johnson, 72, Coon Rapids, took place June 11 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka. Rev. Mark Kenney officiated.
Johnson died June 7, 2003 at Lynwood Health Care Center, Fridley. She was born Jan. 2, 1931 in Norcross to Harold and Nellie M. (Crabtree) Ferris.
She is survived by her sons, Barry (Paulette) Johnson, Donald (Cathy) Johnson, Glenn 'Jimmy' Johnson; daughter, Ranee (Troy) Hoff; foster son, Larry White; grandchildren, Gina, Jodi, Tammy, and Wade; great-grandchildren; Beau, Drake, and Hailey; sister, Dorothy (Ray) Tholund; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George 'Bud' Johnson; parents, Harold and Nellie Ferris; and brother, Russell Ferris.
Active pallbearers were Wade Johnson, Butch Murphy, Matt Schwagerl, and Dennis Buchanan. Honorary pallbearers were Beau Woodroffe and Drake Johnson.
Interment was at Wildwood cemetery, Wheaton. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.
