Catherine Anderson
Funeral services for Catherine M. Anderson (nee DiPasquale), 62, Andover, took place Dec. 9 at the Catholic Church of St. Paul, Ham Lake.
Anderson died Dec. 5, 2002 from pancreatic cancer. She was born Sept. 17, 1940 in Buffalo, N.Y., and was a former elementary teacher in Anoka-Hennepin School District 11.
She is survived by her husband, Don; children, Brian (Cathe) of San Marcos, Calif., Mike of New York, N.Y., Maureen (Mike Weishair) of Andover, Steven (Melissa) of Burns Township; brothers, Tom DiPasquale (Rosanne Pera) of Woodbury, Vincent DiPasquale of Buffalo, N.Y.; mother, Margaret DiPasquale of Buffalo, N.Y.; and grandchildren, Joseph, Sarah, Gabrielle, Mikala, Jacob and Robert.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph DiPasquale; and grandson, Maxwell.
Interment was at Epiphany cemetery, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart Coon Rapids Chapel.
Vernon Bailey
Funeral services for Vernon M. Bailey, 90, Anoka, took place Dec. 17 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Chapel, Anoka. Rev. Margaret I. Guelker officiated.
Bailey died Dec. 12, 2002 at the Minnesota Veterans Home, Minneapolis. He was born April 24, 1912 in Becker to James W. and Elizabeth M. (Rounsville) Bailey. He was a World War II Army veteran who served at Iwo Jima, and was a retired switchman for the Burlington-Northern Railroad.
He is survived by his brother, Elmer; many nieces and nephews; close family, Jack and Jeffrey (Lea) Rounsville, Janice (William) Smith, and Earl (Jean) Bailey.
Pallbearers were Chad Bonin, Fred Larsen, Larry Christian, Michael Oulman, Lincoln Rounsville and Ray Schiedler.
Interment was at Becker cemetery. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.
Henry Bickford
Funeral services for Henry W. Bickford, 89, Blaine, took place Dec. 18 at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, Mounds View. Rev. Elisa Richardson officiated.
Bickford died Dec. 14, 2002 in Cambridge. He was born May 27, 1913 in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, to Moses Bickford and Rosetta M. Pickett. He was retired from poultry farming.
He is survived by his children, Patty (Jim) Vernig, Duane (Linda), Dwight (Janice), and Harold (Donna) Bickford; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha; great-granddaughter, Kaitlin; one sisters; and three brothers.
Interment was at Vernon cemetery, Elk River. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Karen Chesborough
Funeral services for Karen K. Chesborough, 41, Blaine, took place Dec. 19 at Peace Lutheran Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. Heather Wigdahl officiated.
Chesborough died Dec. 16, 2002 at her home. She was born July 22, 1961 in St. Paul to Henry E. Stone and Viola E. Johnson and was a team leader at Aetna.
She is survived by her husband, Brian; daughter, Sarah; mother, Viola Stone; sister, Delores Kroll; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Stone.
Pallbearers were Mark Kroll, Peter Elg, Bill Engberg, Steve Smith, John Bunce and David Boudewyns.
Interment was at Vining Lutheran cemetery, Vining. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Clarence Fiddyment
Funeral services for Clarence Howard Fiddyment, 82, Cedar, took place Dec. 16 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, East Bethel. Rev. Dennis Wright officiated.
Fiddyment died Dec. 11, 2002 at his home. He was born April 8, 1920 in Whitewater, Wis., to Howard and Stella Fiddyment. He was raised and attended school in Anoka, served with the U.S. Army in France and Germany during World War II, and was a 30-year member of the St. Francis American Legion.
He is survived by his daughters, Merlyn and husband Dennis Landborg of Aitkin, LaRae Mills of Coon Rapids, Jeannine and husband Jerry Butler of East Bethel, Susan and husband Stan Hagen of Little Falls, Dawn Marie Gunderson of Ham Lake; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Francis Carlisle of Linwood; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, 'Ole' parents; and sister, Marge Swanson.
Pallbearers were Chad and Jason Butler, Brian and Kevin Hagen, and Jeremy and Ryan Mills. Honorary pallbearers were Rhonda Lowers, Stacy and LaNae Landborg, Angel Hagen, Sarah and Jeff Gunderson, and Rudy Mills.
Interment was at Our Saviour's Lutheran cemetery. Arrangements were by Strike Funeral Home-Isanti Chapel.
Kenneth Gagnon
Memorial services for Kenneth James Gagnon, 82, Reno, Nev., formerly of Anoka, took place Dec. 5 at St. Michael's Church, Reno.
Gagnon died Dec. 2, 2002 at his home. He was born May 6, 1920 in Duluth and was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army in Europe in the 100th Evacuation Hospital Unit.
He is survived by his wife, Penny; daughter, Cynthia (Jim); grandchildren, Nathaniel and Allegra; stepdaughter, Lisa Dickerson; sister, Virginia Ridge (William); and nieces, nephews and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Marion Gagnon.
John Gifford
Funeral services for John Alden Gifford, 80, Coon Rapids, took place Dec. 14 at Gearhart Funeral Chapel, Coon Rapids. Rev. James Donald officiated.
Gifford died Dec. 11, 2002 in Coon Rapids. He was born Sept. 9, 1922 in Minneapolis to Ernst and Hulda Gifford.
He is survived by his wife, Lois; brother, George; cousin, Jerry Linder; sister-in-law, Betty Gifford; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, James and Donna Bauman; and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Raymond.
Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Robert Hayes
Funeral services for Robert A. Hayes, 66, Coon Rapids, took place Dec. 16 at Grace Lutheran Church, Anoka. Rev. Gene Heglund officiated.
Hayes died Dec. 12, 2002 in Fridley. He was born June 22, 1936 in Minneapolis and was a food industry service manager.
He is survived by his wife, Lavonne; children, Michael (Millie) of East Bethel, Kelly Hayes of Coon Rapids and their mother, Ruth Stariha; stepchildren, Shirley (Scott) Buchberger of Eagan, Douglas (Sherri) Gysbers and Ron (Kay) Gysbers, both of Cannon Falls; grandchildren, Nicholas, Kristina (Rudy) Berqual; great-granddaughter, Kallista Berqual; five step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; father, Ivan of Minneapolis; brother, Charles (Darlene ) of Minneapolis; sister, Evelyn (Jerry) Prokop of Brooklyn Center; and nieces, nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ethel; and nephew, Richard Prokop.
Pallbearers were Duane Dorn, Nickolas and Herb Zimmerman, Jerry Gilbert, Joe Mastro and Brian Alshouse.
Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Cora Hunter
Funeral services for Cora A. Hunter (Walton), 87, Anoka, took place Dec. 18 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Chapel, Anoka. Deacon Dominic Ehrmantraut officiated.
Hunter died Dec. 14, 2002 at Anoka Care Center. She was born Aug. 30, 1915 in Anoka to Charles E. and Bridget M. (Roach) Speed. She was an assembler at Federal Cartridge, then worked at Hoffman Engineering before she retired.
She is survived by her daughter, Joan (Henry) Sanchez of Anoka; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; brother, Frank Speed of Winona; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Donald Walton and John Hunter; two sisters; and one brother.
Pallbearers were Robert Olson, Farron Morichel, Henry Sanchez, Frank Speed, Mark Gaffney and William Burns.
Interment was at Forest Hill cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.
Loran Larson
Funeral services for Loran Larson, 89, formerly of Anoka and Champlin, took place Dec. 13 at North Isanti Baptist Church. Rev. Jonathan Larson officiated.
Larson died Dec. 8, 2002. He was born June 29, 1913 in St. Paul and was a retired state of Minnesota employee.
He is survived by his wife, Verna (Eastlund) Larson; sons, Loran jr. and wife Linda, Roger and wife Elaine; daughters, Corinne Provost, Shirley Watson and husband Richard, Carolyn Johansen and husband Stephen, Jeanne Cook and Janet Larson; daughter-in-law, Ginger Larson; 23 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Evelyn Carlson and family; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; cousins; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eben and Ellen Larson; son, Wendell Larson; and son-in-law, Roger Provost.
Pallbearers were Steve, David, Michael, Brian and Eric Larson, Stephen and Matthew Johansen, Cory Watson, James Cook and Seth Felt. Honorary pallbearers were Debi and Shelly Larson, Sharon Ayers, Cindy Davis, Wendy Rawlings, Jan Mitton, Kristine Taylor, Sara Dexter, Donna Beede, Jill Roberts, Laura Horlbeck, Anna Bemish and Megan Felt.
Interment was at North Isanti Baptist cemetery. Arrangements were by Carlson-Labatte Funeral Home, Cambridge.
