Norma Finke
Memorial services for Norma T. Finke, 77, Chippewa Falls, Wis., formerly of Anoka County, will take place tomorrow (Saturday, Oct. 5), 1 p.m., at Trinity United Methodist Church, Chippewa Falls. Rev. Richard Estrem-Fuller will officiate.
Finke died Sept. 27, 2002 in Wheaton. She was born June 1, 1925 in Alberg, Vt., to Eva Mitchell and Joseph Hemingway. She was employed at Federal Cartridge in Anoka for several years and then at Minco Inc., Fridley, for 10 years until her retirement.
She is survived by her daughters, Rebecca Hurtgen of Chippewa Falls, Joyce (Melvin) Larsen of Brooklyn Center, Kathy Weidenhaft of Eagan; sons, James (Audry) Finke of Cosmos, Bill Finke of Buffalo, sister, Eleanor Thompson of Shelton, Conn.; 19 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Hemingway of Burlington, Vt.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Finke; parents; sister, Leona Kluge; and brothers, Vernon, Willard and Roger Hemingway.
Arrangements are by Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls.
Frances Kobett
Funeral services for Frances G. Kobett, 61, Coon Rapids, took place Sept. 27 at Anoka United Methodist Church. Rev. Kenneth Rice officiated.
Kobett died Sept. 23, 2002 in Coon Rapids. She was born Oct. 9, 1940 in Rosemount to Arthur and Ione Bubar and was a nurse.
She is survived by her husband, Gordon; children, Nathan and Natalie Bubar; three grandchildren; brothers, Phillip, Michael and Owen Bubar; and sisters, Dyanne Michaelis and Donna Lockhart.
Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Edith Lestor
Funeral services for Edith C. Lestor (nee Melberg), 84, Anoka, took place Oct. 2 at Anoka United Methodist Church. Rev. Kenneth A. Rice officiated.
Lestor died Sept. 28, 2002 at Mercy Hospital. She was born Aug. 21, 1918 in Anoka to John and Minnie (Bentley) Melberg and was a foster mother to 75 children.
She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn; many nieces and nephews; and 75 foster children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wenzel; parents, John and Minnie Melberg; six brothers; and four sisters.
Pallbearers were Jack Melberg, Russell H. Olson, and Thomas, Gary, David and Ryan Hostetler.
Interment was at Sunrise Memorial Park, Minneapolis. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Kathleen Lindemann
Funeral services for Kathleen J. Lindemann, 60, Crystal, took place Oct. 2 at St. Raphael's Catholic Church. Rev. Mark Juettner officiated.
Lindemann died Sept. 29, 2002 at her home. She was born Nov. 16, 1941 in Minneapolis to John Voight Sr. and Mable Cooke.
She is survived by her husband, Donald; children, Jerry (Susan), Jackie (Chris), Kaldenberg, Michael (Deborah), Darrell (Julie), Judy (Randy) Anderson; grandchildren, Anna Caren, Gavin (K.J.), Matt, Jill and Brianna; three brothers; and one sister.
She was preceded in death by baby Caren.
Pallbearers were Jerry, Michael and Darrell Lindemann and Chris Kaldenberg.
Interment was at Gethsemane cemetery, New Hope. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Vernon McGonagle
Memorial services for Vernon 'Vern' E. McGonagle, 62, of Naperville, Ill., formerly of Anoka, took place Sept. 26, 2002.
He was a graduate of Anoka High School and a member of the Anoka Alumni Club. He was a graduate of University of Minnesota, where he was a member of the track and basketball teams and the men's glee club. He owned McGonagle Securities and McGonagle and Sons Construction.
He is survived his sons, Sean (Tracy) and Scott; grandchildren, Ryan and Kevin; companion, Cathe Wood; mother, Esther McGill and the late Howard; brother, William (Janice), Michael (Linda) and the late Susan; and nephews.
Interment was private. Arrangements were by Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, Naperville.
Stanley Olson
Funeral services for Stanley R. Olson, 90, Anoka, took place Oct. 3 at Zion Lutheran Church, Anoka. Rev. Liane Rock officiated.
Olson died Sept. 30, 2002 at Twin Rivers Care Center, Anoka. He was born April 29, 1912 in Constance to Olaf and Mary Catherine (Forstrom) Olson and was retired head janitor at the Anoka County Courthouse.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine; children, Cathy McNaughton, Lee (Carol), Dave (Lori); six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers, Clifford (Opal) and Phillip (Jewel); and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by his brothers, Rollein 'Ole' and Malby 'Mack.'
Honorary pallbearers were Joe and Diane Hebert and Bill and Delores Ruckel. Active pallbearers were David, Lee, and Shawn Olson, Jim Jr. and Larry 'Stan' McNaughton and Troy Getchell.
Interment was at at Forest Hill cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Wayne Norton
Funeral services for Wayne W. Norton, 67, Coon Rapids, took place Oct. 1 at Faith Lutheran Church, Coon Rapids Rev. James Donald officiated.
Norton died Sept. 28, 2002 at his home. He was born Sept. 23, 1935 in Minneapolis to Orrie W. Norton and Alice E. Hamlin. He was a veteran from 1952 to 1957 and a custodian at Faith Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Laura; children, Katherine (Jim) Ward, Brady (LeeAnn), Kellie (Scott) Hall, Karra (Kent Djubek) Neseth, Blaine (Cathleen); 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Dean, Vern and Danny; and sister-in-law, Marva Hoffman.
Pallbearers were Brady, Blaine, Danny, Dean and Vern Norton, and Jerod Frank.
Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Marjorie Rogers
Funeral services for Marjorie Rogers, 88, Mott, N.D., took place Oct. 2 at United Church of Christ in Mott. Rev. Michael Nahas officiated.
Rogers died Sept. 27, 2002 at Good Samaritan Nursing Center in Mott. She was born Sept. 3, 1914 in Mobridge, S.D., to William and Lulu (Otrado) Shillingstad.
She is survived by her sisters, Florence Fox and Tibby Ring; children, Marcia Houtz, William Rogers, Rev. Thomas Rogers, John Rogers, Julie McKown; and 10 grandchildren.
She as preceded in death by her parents; brother, William Shillingstad Jr.; husband, Vernon Rogers; son Raymond (Oscar) Rogers; and grandson, Ian Rogers.
Pallbearers were Peter and Paul Houtz, Andy, Amy, Nathan, Anne, Jennifer and Jessica Rogers.
Interment was at Champlin cemetery. Arrangements were by Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home, Mott.
Daniel Schjenken
Funeral services for Daniel Lee Schjenken, 43, East Bethel, took place Oct. 5 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Schjenken died Sept. 27, 2002. He was born March 22, 1959 in St. Paul.
He is survived by his parents, Phil and Marietta; brothers and sisters, Pam Morgan (Boysie), Leon, Kurt, Paul (Christa), Marcel Buettner (Mark), Joel and uncles, aunts and nephews.
Interment was private. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.
Dennis Springer
Funeral services for Dennis E. Springer, 70, Big Lake, took place Sept. 28 at Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel, Monticello.
Springer died Sept. 25, 2002. He was born Jan. 11, 1932 in Crown to Alfred and Rhoda (Jacobsen) Springer. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
He is survived by his sons, Scott (Sue) of Big Lake, Dean (Linda) of Richfield; daughters, Cynthia (Dan) Dahele of Elk River, Gail Stein of Eagan, Julie (Samuel) Kaplin of Blaine; eight granddaughters; significant other, Marlene Loehrs; sisters, Karen (Dale) Lundeen of Isanti; sister-in-law, Doris Springer of Champlin; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Mark Steven; and brother, Cyrus.
Interment was at Crown cemetery. Arrangements were by Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel.
Shirley Stoltman
Funeral services for Shirley Stoltman, 72, Coon Rapids, took place Oct. 1 at Church of the Epiphany, Coon Rapids. Rev. Bernard Reiser officiated.
Stoltman died Sept. 27, 2002. She was born June 15, 1930 in Ottumwa, Iowa.
She is survived by her husband, Frank; sons, Mark (Mary), Kevin (Tracy), Gregg (Michelle); grandchildren, Rachael, Caitlin, Matthew Kelsey, Daniel, Scott; many brothers and sisters-in-law; and nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, Gary; and cousin, Winnie Holmes.
Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
