Funeral services for Brian E. Durand, 38, Anoka, took place July 24 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Anoka. Rev. Dale W. Ehrman officiated.
Durand died July 20, 2002 at Mercy Hospital. He was born June 23, 1964 in Robbinsdale to Edward E. Durand and Lorraine A. Vetsch. He was a cabinet maker with Durand's Woodworking Shop and a volunteer fireman with the city of Anoka.
He is survived by his daughter, Mindy; mother, Punky (Lorraine) Durand; special friend, Joan; special uncle, Bill; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward; and brother, Jeff.
Pallbearers were Brian Bjerke, Bill Durand, Bob Howell, Michael and George Pitman and Joe Sharbono.
Interment was at Calvary cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Mary Dye
Funeral services for Mary Alyce Dye, 82, Blaine, took place July 24 at Abundant Life Community Church, Blaine. Rev. Jerry Cole officiated.
Dye died July 17, 2002. She was born March 24, 1920 in Monroe County Tenn., and was a retired cashier at Menard's.
She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Marciniak (James); grandchildren, Michael (Anna), Rick (Stacia); and six great-grandchildren.
Interment was private. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Christine Engren
Memorial services for Christine Kay Engren, 34, Blaine, took place July 22 at the Strike Funeral Home-Isanti Chapel. Rev. Howard Skulstad officiated.
Engren died July 17, 2002 at Mercy Hospital. She was born April 23, 1968 in Coon Rapids to Donald and Audre Engren. She graduated from Blaine High School, class of 1986.
She is survived by her parents, Donald and Audrey Engren of Blaine; sister, Tammy and husband John McCreery of Big Lake; brother, Don of Blaine; nieces and nephews, Lauren, Haley and Austin McCreery, Jonathan and Jesse Evans; and many other relatives and friends.
Interment was at East Bradford cemetery, rural Isanti. Arrangements were by Strike Funeral Home.
Deloris Johnson
Funeral services for Deloris 'Dody' D. Johnson, 69, Coon Rapids, took place July 22 at Coon Rapids Christian Church. Revs. Calvin Miller and Barry Davis officiated.
Johnson died July 18, 2002 at Unity Hospital. She was born Oct. 2, 1932 in Esterville, Iowa, to Earl and Ethel Sidles. She was an LPN and was awarded the 1990 Extra Mile Award from Fridley Convalescence Home for outstanding performance.
She is survived by her children, Michael Johnson, Michelle Johnson and Mari Edstrom; and other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Peterson.
Pallbearers were Dick and Jerry Gourley, Lyle Troutman, John Nordquist, Mark Maloney and Charley Meyers.
Interment was at Fort Snelling National cemetery. Arrangements were by Methven-Taylor Funeral Home-Blaine Chapel.
Gertrude Johnson
Memorial services for Gertrude I. Johnson, 82, Coon Rapids, took place at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Anoka.
Johnson died July 14, 2002 at Camilia Rose Convalescent Center, Coon Rapids. She was born Feb. 6, 1920 in Thief River Falls and was a retired inspector.
She is survived by her sons, Darrell (Angela), Michael J. (Nancy); grandchildren, Kristina, David, Shannon and Christopher; and sisters, Violet Galba and Francis (Russell) Turner.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy A., Johnson.
Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Donald Lyman
Funeral services for Donald E. Lyman, 60, Dayton, took place July 18 at Lord of Life Lutheran Church. Rev. Hilton Hammer officiated.
Lyman died July 15, 2002 at Mercy Hospital. He was born May 13, 1942 in Cloquet to Ervin D. Lyman and Frances B. Schley. He was vice president of sales at Food Engineering Corp.
He is survived by his wife, Karen; son, Jason; daughter, Lisa (Oliver) Berroa; grandson, Landon; sister, Barbara (Donald) Laitinen; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Interment was at Life Memorial Gardens, Ramsey. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Mason Manthei
Funeral services for Mason Scott Manthei, 3, Blaine, took place July 9 at Grace Evangelical Free Church, Fridley. Rev. Brent Waiwaiole officiated.
He died July 5, 2002 at his home. He was born April 3, 1999 in Fridley to Julie Perish and Anthony Manthei.
He is survived by his mother, Julie Perish; father, Anthony Manthei; grandparents, Mini and Donald Perish, Karen and Greig Manthei; and uncles, Dustin Perish and Adam Manthei.
Pallbearers were Ben Martin, Dustin Perish, and Peder II and Peder III Baukol.

Paul Onstad
Funeral services for Paul W. Onstad, 61, Otsego, took place July 8 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spring Grove. Rev. Jim Arends officiated.
Onstad died July 3, 2002. He was born in Spring Grove to Oswald S. and Lucille M. (Johnsrud) Onstad. He was a software programmer and owner/operator of Priori Systems.
He is survived by his brothers, David (Karen) of Litchfield Park, Ariz., Joseph (Laree) of Lincoln, Neb.; sisters, Patricia (Glen Corcoran) Onstad of Cascade, Mont.; and six nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oswald and Lucille Onstad; and brother, Douglas Onstad.
Interment was private. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Walter Rasmussen
Funeral services for Walter K. Rasmussen, 79, Spring Lake Park, took place July 14 at Gearhart Coon Rapids Chapel.
Rasmussen died July 11, 2002. He was born July 22, 1922 in Minneapolis to Lauritz and Kristine Rasmussen. He was a retired carpenter and a member of the Spring Lake Park Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce; children, Cindi Cook, John (Carol); stepson, Rob Christel; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Kathy (Kutzia) and Doug and daughter Denielle; and close friends, Aron, Sandy and Clyde and Amy.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jem Rasmussen.
He was cremated. Arrangements were by Gearhart Coon Rapids Chapel.
Thomas Richardson
Funeral services for Thomas N. Richardson, 74, Bethel, took place July 25 at Constance Free Church, Andover. Rev. Randy Discher officiated.
Richardson died July 21, 2002 at Cambridge Health Care Center. He was born Oct. 29, 1917 in Anoka to Verl and Dorothy (Britz) Corner. He was retired from Northern Pacific/Burlington-Northern.
He is survived by his wife, Darleen; children, Bill (SaraLee) Richardson of Florida, Phil Schultz and Lori of Isanti, Sue (Dennis) Stribling of Edina, Barbara Brown of Anoka, Gloria (Curt) Magnuson of Isanti, Charlotte (Ron) Halverson of Cambridge, Kathy (Brian) Holmstrom of Champlin; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Schultz; parents, Verl and Dorothy Corner; and brother, Parker Corner.
Pallbearers were Josh Holmstrom, Brian Brown, Stormy and George Halverson; Rich Patrow; and Frank Bentley.
Interment was at Constance cemetery, Andover. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Paul Sodman Sr.
Funeral services for Paul C. Sodman Sr., 88, Coon Rapids, took place July 23 at Epiphany Catholic Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. Patrick Kennedy officiated.
Sodman died July 19, 2002 at Mercy Hospital. He was born Jan. 10, 1914 in Leola, S.D., to Herman Sodman and Caroline Mueller. He was a retired machine adjustor/stationary manufacturer.
He is survived by his children, Paul Sr. (Pat), Robert (Debbie), Gloria Jean (Duke) Schmidt, and Sharon (Joe) Jorgensen; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; sister, Ida Scwab; brother, Norman (Helen); sisters, Marcella Johnson and Martha Hitzman; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence; and great-grandson.
Interment was at Epiphany Catholic cemetery, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Chapel, Anoka.
