GREER, JAMES E. PH.D Of Chelsea Mich., formerly of Grosse Pte. Woods. Died Wednesday, July, 28, 1999 in Chelsea. Aged 83 years. A longtime Resident of Grosse Pte. Woods, he moved to the Chelsea Retirement Community three years ago. A native of Dallas, Texas; he held degrees from Texas A & M, University of Texas, and University of Oklahoma. He served on the staff of Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit and Sinai Hospital of Detroit. He also taught at Wayne State Medical School. He was a member of the Society of Sigma Xi at Wayne State University, the American Society of Clinical Pathologist and the American Society of Microbiology. Dr. Greer received a regional award from the Boy Scouts of America for his years of volunteer service. He was a 43 year member of the Grosse Pointe United Methodist Church. Dr. Greer was a veteran of WW II serving in the US Army in the European Theatre attaining the rank of Captain in the Medical Corps. Surviving are his wife Dorothy, three children; Betty Greer, Rev. James E. Greer, II (Madeline), and John Greer; four grandchildren. Memorial services will be Saturday July 31, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. from Grosse Pointe United Methodist Church, 211 Moross Rd., Grosse Pte. Farms. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the church. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the United Methodist Retirement Communities. KINZIE, HENRY B., 80, of Leland, died Saturday at Leelanau Memorial Health Center. Born April 13, 1919, in Detroit, he was the son of Julian Magill and Marguerite (Flower) Kinzie. On September 14, 1946, in Grosse Pointe Farms, he married Anne H. Gard, who survives. Henry was a salesman and co-owner of a manufacturers representative's organization. He was a member of Yondetega Club of Detroit, Leland Country Club, Leland Yacht Club, former president of the Country Club of Detroit, and a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Traverse City. He served in the National Guard beginning in 1940 and active service in the Pacific until his discharge as a captain in the U.S. Army in 1945. He is also survived by two sons, Thomas Y. Kinzie of Las Vegas, Nev. and William M. (Marie) Kinzie of Traverse City; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Julian. A memorial service was held at Grace Episcopal Church in Traverse City. Burial will be in Beechwood cemetery in Leland. Memorial contributions may be directed to Leelanau Conservancy, P.O. SCOFIELD, PAUL B., Age 63 of Naples FL and Livonia, MI succumbed to cancer on July 28. Loving husband and father. survived by wife Margaret, of 41 years and four daughters, Leslie & Bill Sievert, Vicki & Gary Kapron, Kathy & Duane Smith, Jackie & John Megdan and ten grandchildren. He is also survived by his 95 year old mother, Violet and two brothers, Dr. Charles Scofield and Jack D. Scofield. Paul was born May 20, 1936 in South Branch, MI. He served in the armed forces in the Korean conflict. He was self employed for several years and retired from Art Van Furniture in 1992 where he was a member of the Art Van team for 22 years at which time he moved to Naples. He will be remembered for his room filling laugh, his passion for life and his love for his family. Services will be held in Plymouth Aug. 4, 11:30 a.m. at St. Kenneth Catholic Church with a luncheon to follow.
