Beloved wife of Joseph; dear mother of William (Julie), Joseph (Marita), Ann Marie (Tom) Barclay, and Susan Marie (Robert) Burkart; sister of Walter Chrzanowska, Donald Marczak, Helen Ribble, and Jean Keesling. MAGNUS, FLORENCE, age 97, passed away on Monday, March 5, 2001. She was very active in music, she was the first person to sing at the Red Rocks in Colorado. Her memberships included; Detroit Sorosis, Detroit Madrigal Club and Matinee Musical. She was a very loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her children, Nancy Mellow of Grand Rapids, MI, William E. Magnus of Louisville, KY; grandchildren, Kurt Mellow, Kristin Mellow, James E. and John W. Magnus; great grandchildren, Sarah, Allison, John, Samantha, Mackenzie and Benjamin. A private family graveside service was held at Acacia Park cemetery. MANSON, GORDON, MD, Age 78, died March 7, 2001 of pneumonia in Goodrich, MI. Born in Burlington, VT, June 5, 1922, he was married to Mary "Willie" Eckelman August 6, 1943. He lost his beloved "Willie" in October of 1995. He served as 1st Lieutenant, U.S. Infantry 1942-1946, being wounded in France in 1944. After retiring from the service, he graduated from the University of Kansas, then took his MD at the University of Vermont. From 1955 to his retirement in 1991, he was a staff pediatrician at Henry Ford Hospital, in Detroit. His professional affiliations included serving as president of the Detroit Pediatric Society, Examiner for the American Board of Pediatrics and Associated Professor at University of Michigan Hospital. An enthusiastic member of the Prismatic Society of Detroit since 1972, he served as its secretary and president. He was a life member of the NRA and believed strongly in the Second Amendment. He is survived by two sons and their wifes; David and Ann, of Linden, MI and Andrew and Cheryl of Chama, NM, as well as grandchildren, Courtney and Nim. There will be a Memorial Service for family in Chama, NM, to join Gordon with his beloved Willie. MARSHALL, ALBERT PRINCE Age 86, died March 9, 2001. Beloved husband of Ruthe. Dear father of Satia Marshall Orange of Chicago, IL. Loving grandfather of Tiffani Orange and Michael Orange. Mr. Marshall was the Director of Libraries at Eastern Michigan University, 1969 to 1973, Dean of Academic Services, 1973 to 1977; Professor of Library Science, 1978 to 1979 and Acting Library Director, January 1 - June 30, 1980. McFADDEN, ROBERT B., Age 76 of Howell, died Monday, March 5, 2001. Robert married Leona Forbes in Detroit in 1951 and she preceded him in death in 1982. Survivors include Kathryn McFadden of Minneapolis, MN, Thomas (Kathryn) McFadden of Fowlerville, MI and Janet McFadden of Scottsdale, AZ. Robert was a veteran of WWII serving with the U.S. Army Signal Corp. in the Pacific Theater. Robert was Building Services Manager for the Dearborn Public Schools for 21 years, retiring in 1986. Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimers Association. Cremation has taken place and Private family services will be held at a later date. NANKERVIS, LORETTA HARRIET of Grosse Ile, age 96, passed away March 1, 2001. She is survived by her son Thomas (Stephanie) Nankervis of Grosse Ile, her daughters; Joyce (Dimitry) Turin of Grosse Ile, Shirley Sterms of PENN., Elaine (Bradner) Ameluxen of Roscommon, nine grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband John and a grandchild. Mrs. Nankervis was a dedicated teacher in both the Detroit and Grosse Ile School districts and even after retirement she volunteered for their Remedial Reading Programs. She was a member of The Grosse Ile Historical Society and was one of only a few to receive a Rotary Club Plague for her work at the museum. Her services were held at St. James Episcopal Church on Grosse Ile March 5th at 2:00 PM. She had a private burial in the Roseland Park cemetery in Ferndale. The family suggests any memorials be sent to The Grosse Ile Historical Society, P.O. Box 131, Grosse Ile, 48138. Arrangements were made by the Ralph W. Ridge Funeral Home, in Trenton.
