OLIVER, WALTER L., Of Ellenton, Florida, formerly of Lansing, Michigan. Died Saturday, March 6, 1999 at Manatee Memorial Hospital, Bradenton, FL. Age 68 years. He was born July 19, 1930 in St. Clair Shores, Michigan, the son of the late Isaac and Mabel Oliver. M. Olivr retired from Blue Cross-Blue Shield in 1995. He spent over 30 years as a leader within Michigan s labor movement. He held various state and national positions within the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees. He also served as a Secretary Treasurer of the Michigan AFL-CIO. He is remembered for his tireless commitment to the working men and women of Michigan and the nation. He served his country in the United States Navy from 1947-1951. Mr. Oliver is survived by his wife Mary; his daughter Nancy Patterson and her husband Gary of Saginaw, and his daughter Joyce Vroom and her husband Charles of Warren; his sister Shirley Stephens of Winter Haven, Fla; and four grandchildren Audra Patterson, Lauren Patterson, Charles Oliver Vroom, and Amy Vroom. He was predeceased by four brothers Harold Oliver, Frank Oliver, Warren Oliver, Robert Oliver and by one sister Virginia Mason. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, March 12 at St. Marks Lutheran Church, Roseville, MI
