Lucie was the Valedictorian of St. Gregory High School, Class of 43. She worked for Army Intelligence during World War II and was an Executive Secretary to James Vernor at Vernor's Ginger Ale for 12 years. She was an avid reader and shopper and a gracious hostess, who strived to make her home a comfortable and welcome haven for family and guests. Funeral services were held in Hemet, Californa on December 29.

SQUIRES, JOSEPH R., of Ann Arbor, MI. Died December 31, 2000 at Huron Woods, Ann Arbor. He was born May 19, 1924 at Eloise, MI, the son of Dr. Walter and Pearl Squires. He is survived by his wife Joyce, son Ward (Henrietta), daughter Leela Willow (Todd Wright), grandchildren Gabriella, Shea, Tajia and Naomi; step-grandchild Shawn Patrick (Becky), sister Betty (Bob) Zimmerman and nephew Paul (Rose) and niece Ann (Richard). Bob graduated from Wayne High School. After serving in the U.S. Air Force, he went to Eastern Michigan University (Michigan State Normal College) where he earned his B.S., Masters and Educational Specialist in Special Education. He taught mentally and emotionally impaired and sixth grade in Livonia Public Schools and Garden City, where he had also been a Director of Visual & Audio Arts. Bob previously resided in Livonia before moving to Ann Arbor in 1977. He was a very active member and past president of the Lamplighter Lions International Organization, a life member of the MEA/NEA and a member of the Ann Arbor MARSP. He was a past member of the Alpha Sigma Tau Fraternity and a spousal member of the Ann Arbor Women's City Club. Bob's family sincerely appreciates the loving and dedicated care given to him during his ten months at Huron Woods. Cremation has already taken place by Muelig's Funeral Home. His family and close friends will celebrate his life, and friends may call his wife or daughter at the family home, while cards of caring may be sent to Ward at the University of Michigan where he is a patient.
