GILLILAND, ADELAIDE "Gunner" (Nee GUENTHER) Born November 24, 1913 in Port Washington, Wisconsin died May 25, 2001 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. She has lived in Alpena since 1939 and was a Winter resident of Naples, Florida. She married William O. Gilliland, February 26, 1938 in Port Washington, Wisconsin. He preceded her in death June 16, 1989. Mrs. Gilliland graduated from Michigan State University in 1935 and continued to be a loyal supporter through the Beaumont Tower Preservation and the John Hannah Society and other related MSU events as well as being a lifetime member and past president of the MSU Alumni Association. Another philanthropy of hers was Hnery Ford Hospital in Detroit. During her years in Alpena she was a member of Alpena Hospital Tray Club, Girl Scouts Council, Child Study Club and other volunteer activities. Also a member of First Congregational Church of Alpena, the Unitarian Church of Naples, FL. and the Naples Sail Club and Lake Winyah Club in Alpena. She is survived by three daughters, Susan (T.G. Jr.) Rafferty of Brighton, MI. Jean Gilliland (Ron Winter) of ALpena MI, Ann Horton of Kalamazoo, MI. Grandchildren Thomas Rafferty III, Dr. Colleen Concepcion, Sarah Horton, R.W. Greg Horton and Addie Horton. Great granddaughter Ann Rafferty, one sister Edna Guenther of Port Washington, WI. Nephews and niece Walter Guenther, Robert Gilliland and Gail Gilliland.
