HALBEISEN, ROBERT J. Died May 26 at 85. Born in Charlotte MI on August 30, 1912. He was a Prominent Labor Organizer from the early days of the Labor movement in the 1930 s. Worked for the Michigan Employment Security Commission from its beginning as the War Manpower Commission. He retired at the age of 70 in 1982. Active in Human Rights Causes and the Environment. survived by his wife Patricia L. Pilling; His son Eric J. Halbeisen and his 2 daughters Johanna Halbeisen and Margaret Halbeisen and 3 grand daughters and four step children. ROELSE, JAMES L., Aged 40 of Royal Oak, MI. went to be with his Lord, Monday, May 25, 1998. Jim grew up in Grand Rapids, graduating from Ottawa Hills High School in 1976 after which he spent time in the U. S. Army. Following his discharge, he attended Michigan State University earning a BSEE with honors. Later he earned a MS degree in electrical engineering at Illinois Institute of Technology. His career as a computer systems engineer took him from Illinois to Kentucky and California before returning to Michigan in the mid 90 s. He is remembered for his great integrity, kind spirit, and great thirst for learning. He was preceded in death by his parents William & Dorothy Roelse. He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Lois Ann (Soper) Roelse, His father-in-law and mother-in-law Norman and Jessie Soper of Royal Oak, his sisters and brothers Kathy and Mark Koning, John and Amy Roelse, Robert and Rebecca Roelse, Ruth and Bill Post, his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Ken and Gail Soper, Ruth and Bob Dein of Royal Oak, and many beloved nieces and nephews, Christine, Daniel, Sarah, Elizabeth, Katherine, Adam, Maxwell, Evan, Marci, Sarah, Andy, Heather, Rob, Holly and Emily.
