GETCHEL, RUSSELL, Age 83 of Margate, Fla. Beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away Tuesday, April 28th. Mr. Getchel was a retired Lt. Colonel in the United States Air Force and is distinguished as being a graduate of the Class of 40-A, the first official flight training program of the Air Force, then known as the Army Air Corps. Mr. Getchel then went on to distinguish himself as a decorated pilot in both the European and Japanese conflicts during World War II. Originally of East Detroit, Mich., Mr. Getchel was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruth in 1983 and he has been a Margate resident since 1993. Among his many gifts, Mr. Getchel was an animal lover who contributed regularly to the World Wildlife Federation and the Humane Society of Broward County. He also was a member of American Legion #157, Margate, Fla., and VFW Post #6782, East Pointe, Mich. Mr. Getchel is survived by his children Michael and Dianne Getchel, Susan and David LaGrois and Janice and Jerry Brookins; his grandchildren Laurie Brookins, Ronald LaGrois, Kurt Getchel and Stacey Hubert; and his great grandchildren Anna and Marc LaGrois and Aaron Hubert. MASON, FRANK WINFRED Age 62. Frank was born Oct. 18, 1935 in Birmingham, Ala. to the late Mose and Beulah Mason. Frank received his education in the Detroit Public School System and was a graduate of Northwestern High School. He served in the US Army. His tour of duty was completed with an honorable discharge in 1965. Frank retired from the Detroit Public School System November 1997, completing 21 yrs. of service.
