STONE, HELEN DOROTHY (nee Woodling) passed away peacefully on Friday, March 9, 2001 at Hotel-Dieu Hospital, Windsor at the age of 84 in the company of her close family. Loving mother of Sarah Scott of Plano, Texas and Raymond Giles Stone of Windsor, loving mother-in-law of David Scott and loving grandmother of Sara's daughters Alison and Emily. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband John Giles Stone of Windsor and her brother Robert Lee Woodling of Pueblo, Colorado. She was born in Needles, California, and later moved to La Junta, Colorado. Following graduation from the University of Colorado at Boulder, Helen pursed a career in pharmaceutical research with Parke Davis in Detroit before leaving to raise her family in Windsor. For more than 60 years she was a member of the women's philanthropic and educational organization P.E.O. almost entirely with Chapter R in southeastern Michigan. An avid stamp collector, she was also a founding member of both the Essex County Stamp Club and the Windsor Junior Stamp Club. She was warm, thoughtful and tolerant. Her bright personality and unfailing good spirits will be sadly missed by her family and the many friends she made and kept over the years.
