Purewal, Gary L. Grove, Constance H. Beneker and Lori L. Grove. Nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Mrs. Grove was in the graduating class at St. Cecilia's High School in 1931. She was past president of the Altar Society at Mother of Our Savior Church in Detroit, Secretary to the 50 Uppers at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Lake Orion, where she was a member since 1956, and was among the first group at the Orion Senior Center. SUMMERS, EDWIN D., Age 73. Died suddenly March 2, 1999 in Phoenix, AZ. Mr. Summers is survived by his wife of 51 years, Adelaide. Seven children: Cheryl Summers of Atlanta, GA; Mark Summers of St. Clair, MI; Charlotte Eickhoff of Livonia, MI; Kathleen Summers of NAS Keslavik, Iceland; Patricia Baumgardner of Detroit, MI; Jane Summers of Phoenix, AZ and Bernard Summers of Waterford, MI. Twelve grandchildren: 6 granddaughters and 6 grandsons. His mother, Marvelle Towers of Redford, MI. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Retired: Detroit Police Dept. in 1978 from the 12th Precinct/Palmer Park as a Detective Sergeant - 25 years and the U.S. Navy in 1985 - 43 years active & reserve duty as a Sr. Chief Petty Officer. Active member of the : VFW Detroit Naval Post, American Legion Allen Park Post 409, Navy League, Korean Navy Squadron VP 731, Fleet Reserve Association, Knights of Columbus Father Saylor Council, Allen Park, and the Detroit Police Lieutenants & Sergeants Association. Born and raised in Detroit, Mr. Summers graduated from Chadsey High School and is a 1975 alumnus of Mercy College of Detroit with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. He was a veteran of WWII, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam with the U.S. Navy, and participated in the 1962 Berlin Airlift. He was also a member of St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Livonia. Former volunteer: VA Hospital, Allen Park, MI and the Boy Scouts of America. Donations can be made to the American Red Cross. Visitation Sunday 5-9 PM & Monday 12-9 PM.
