Teresa grew up in Crystal Lake, Illinois and graduated from Marion High School there in 1980. Teresa then attended Saint Mary s College in South Bend, Indiana where she earned a degree in Accounting and she earned a degree in Germanic Languages from the University of Notre Dame. She later earned an M.B.A. in Finance from Wayne State University. Teresa met her surviving husband, Oakland County Commissioner Dan Devine, Jr., while in college. They fell instantly in love and were married in July of 1985 in a gala event of a wedding in Scranton, PA. Teresa moved to the area after college and worked her way through the ranks at Ford Motor Company World Headquarters to become an analyst on the Finance Staff. Although on a fast-track to corporate stardom, Teresa embarked upon the time-honored profession of homemaker when the loving couple was blessed with first-born, Danny, in 1989. Danny was soon followed by their other wonderful children; Megan Rose (7), Dominic Scott (4) and Theodore Joseph "Teddy" (2). Teresa loved to laugh, hike, fish and spend time at the beach. She camped in the Grand Canyon in late June, 1998 and, although embattling the rigors of cancer, she insisted on hiking into and out of the canyon in 105 degree weather. She also camped with her husband for a month in the Upper Peninsula while she was 7 months pregnant with Danny. Teresa was also an avid world traveler having lived in Austria for a year in college. She also vacationed in Australia, Hawaii, Jamaica, South America, all of Europe and the British Isles. Teresa was an accomplished musician on guitar, mandolin and harmonica with an uplifting singing voice that filled her home constantly with loving tunes. Teresa was a member of the Bloomfield Women s Republican Club acting as P.A.C. Treasurer and Newsletter Editor. Her newsletters won an award for the best publication for republican women s organizations. Teresa was her husband s right arm in his political campaigns and all of his other endeavors.
